CAMPAIGN TWENTY-FOUR THE WEST
New for T73
Noble House rules have been
added please take a look at these here.
New Spreadsheet
for the Renaissance has been created this can be found here and must be used
from now on.
Some
tinkering with the Religious
Order rules.
Im going back to standard
movement rules sigh as it is just taking too much time to rewrite these. Please
continue to give your orders in year chunks though The newly created spreadsheet
should help with this
New for T59
Paths to victory: There are several options open to a player when an NPN has been defeated
Dealing with hordes: Hordes can be dealt with a number of ways rather than just an outright battle. These are
You can also use a combination of the above. If the horde
becomes a FA or A, you can direct its attacks or its path of migration.
New for T57
Non-player rules update: Ive updated the NPN
rules to fit better with the Lords system. Please check them out.
New for T53
Restrictions on Royal Marriages: Due to the complications
arising from these rules only K, H or P leaders can benefit from a Royal
Marriage. Members of the Royal Family that have not come into play are not
considered eligible. Also, Primate, Order and Secret Empire positions are not
eligible for marriage bonuses. These are meant to be diplomatic arrangements
between sovereign states.
New for T52
East West Split: Im going to try to
split the East and the West parts of the game so that I can process the orders
quicker dont know if or how it will work yet but lets
see if itll happen
New for T51
No Orders: If I dont get any orders in for a
position and the player doesnt answer my emails then Ill put the position
back to a NPN and put aside the players cash (if any) until they pick it or
another nation up again.
New for T50
Request Royal Marriage: Used to ask a NPN
nation for a bride for one of your Princes or a suitor for one of your little
Princesses. Cost is 6AP, Charisma based. The leader doesnt have to be in the
NPNs capital but if he isnt then he needs to be in your homeland/capital.
New for T49
Naval Reaction and Blockade: Naval Reactions can
only occur when there is action in a Sea Zone that the fleet is based at. The
fleet has to be based from a port and not the Sea Zone. Also, the Reaction can
only occur when your own lands or those of an ally benefiting from a Defensive
Pact marriage bonus are attacked. It also applies to any merchant fleets you
operate through the Sea Zone in the case of piracy. Naval Blockades only work if your fleet is
based in the same Sea Zone as the target port and you spend all (every single
one) of your APs in the blockade. The fleet must be based from a port and not a
Sea Zone.
New for T48
The use of fleets for Reaction and mitigating
the effects of Pirates: My understanding has now changed since we GMs have had some
discussion on the list. The use of Reaction has been explained on the Wiki and
Patrol is no longer used in the Base Rules.
Reaction
Trade Route Escorts
Updated NPN and Primacy rules: Yep, been tinkering again but I feel a almost serene sense of satisfaction with my latest offering. See what you think.
Added the ability to hire mercenary captain when there is no mercenary company available: See the mercenary tables
New for T47
Improved cultivation at TL5: If a nation has reached the dizzy heights of TL5 than it can benefit from improved cultivation. You can Improve a cultivated homeland region from 2GPv to 3GPv, or any other controlled cultivated region from 1GPv to 2GPv. This is a level one megalithic construction.
New for T46
NPNS: Ive tweaked the NPN and Primacy/Order rules a
little to make them fit better with the 24 game. Ive also reduced their overall
RRV to make diplomacy easier.
New for T45
New Rivers: Ive added in some new possible rivers
onto the map. These are rivers that were once passable by light traffic
(remember Cogs cannot travel on rivers) and have now become silted up. You can
dredge a stretch of the river (along one region border edge) as a 0.5 level
project.
Gripes:
Agro as
conversion this has restrictions (see 2.11.5.3) which I will be enforcing
from now on.
Rivers can
only support light ships as far as I know Cogs cannot travel on rivers. This
also includes Cogs built for trade.
New Primates: We have two new Primate positions this
turn. Jumal Skyfather,
which is an Estonian god and the Coptic Church based out of Axum.
New for T44
Minor islands and City States: Ill be allowing minor
islands (Corfu, Jerba, Wight etc)
and city states to be used as locations from T44. Just let me know the
rationale behind why you want it separate and if reasonable Ill add it in.
Once they are created as locations, they obey all the rules of islands etc.
However, their Gpv cannot go above 0.
Flooding: The last few turns have seen a massive
increase in the amount of flooding that has occurred. It appears that the years
are getting warmer and wetter. As a result of this some of the minor rivers on
the map are once again becoming passable to river traffic.
Denmark: Following on from the Minor Islands stuff, you
can see that Denmark is now separated out to Jutland and Syaland
(Zeeland).
Announcements
and items of note
General Stuff: Please use my Paypal account (stephenbrunt@yahoo.co.uk)
for all Lords 24 payments. If you cannot use this facility then please let me
know and I will see what I can do about filtering US funds to my account. I may
also stop using the throneworld email address due to
the mass of spam Im getting!
Order Form: Please use the standard excel order form
from now on. Ill update the site with a link
to it next week when I get some time. This is important as it helps me process
the turn more quickly. THIS IS NOW MANDATORY.
Non-Payment: some of you still owe
me some cash. Although it may come as surprise that this is not my main source
of income, I see it only polite that you pay for the occasionally night out.
So, if youre under zero next turn Ill not process you orders.
Version 6: Lords 24 uses version 6 of the basic rules
The Map: The map now includes
India as well as Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Ive greyed out repeated
areas on the maps to make my life easier. However, this means some player
nations are split across more than one map. I may increase the size of the main
map but Ill have to think on this.
Tithes and Tribute: I think these are
automatically updated by the stats program, so no need to declare them in your
orders.
Control
of the Papacy and Religious Orders: In Lords 24 we will not always have
a player Pope (or Caliph etc for that matter) and the
following rules are used to determine which player faction controls the Popes
actions, Papacy Rules.
Ive also added some stuff about gaining support from their armies

Tiroman V, Caliph of the Akramids
|
Taking a wife from amongst the House of Andalusia, Tiroman V continued to rule his Caliphate. The ageing Akramid fleet was refitted with new Caravels and the old triremes, dhows and warships broken from parts and scrap. Cordoba was to outgrow is massive walls as the Akramid population continued to grow; the stone from the walls being used to build more houses. Tiroman was also to receive his son, also called Tiroman, at the Akramid court. The young Prince was renowned for his martial skills and courtly charm, although his tutors feared he had little taste for the world of grand diplomacy. His work in Salamanca complete, Tomas travelled to Santiago with Hisham to gain the full support of the city. Mikhail was to be appointed the new fleet admiral and took command of the newly commissioned caravels at Seville. Fever was to strike down first Marinon and then Tarkhan as they continued their work in Zirid. Once again missionaries were dispatched to Liguria and Tuscany to continue the conversion of the Infidels. The Pope prevented any further converts in Tuscany but in Liguria the growing numbers of Christian converts were returned to Allah. |
Usama-Yoruba Onium of Ibo

Bamadi, Oni
of Ibo
|
Dispatching Prince Bunta and KinWala to Nupe, King Bamadi was content to rule over the Onium from Ibo. His attempts to find more information on the Ogboni were thwarted as several of his investigators either turned up dead or simply disappeared. This did not stop Bamadi ordering another purge of the peasants sheltering the criminals though. In Nupe, Bunta was able to secure a new bride for the king as well as a solid alliance with the province and the House of Nupe. The northern borders were protected by the able general KTunta from his base in the Sudan. These years also saw the cities of Akwanga, Jumagi, Bekwai, Akan, Gourouol and Zaria grow in size. King Bamadis new bride was able to provide him with a young heir soon after her arrival at the Ibo court. |

Naj Muhammad, Sultan of the Buwayids
|
Naj Muhammad declared that Prince Lamman will become his heir and that Prince Alseem would join him at the Buwayid court. The young Prince Lamman was married to a young girl from the ancient House of Zaid as Muhammad started to heal the rift caused by his annexation of their lands. As in previous years, the cities of the sultanate were once again to grow in size with Baghdad reaching its old city limits from before the Plague. The Sultan began to ail during the latter part of 1413 but was still a strong presence at court. He girted Mohammad Abin Sol the city of El Aqabah as his demesne as well as gifting Faras to Kafar Jassan. Yamain Sa Iban once again tried to improve on the Cilician alliance but was again unsuccessful. To protect the western borders, General Omar Sin Abul was dispatched to take command of the garrison in Syria. |

Quteb, Khan of Khwarzim
Extremely conscious that he had no heir, Quteb declared that the charismatic Abdul was to marry his daughter Yadosa once she reached womanhood. The now Prince Abdul travelled back from the west to assist Quteb at the Khwarzimi court. Leaving Sadu to attempt to improve relations with the Cuman, General Abdulla escorted Prince Abdul back to Khwarzim before augmenting his force with the garrison of the province. He then led an attack on the KulSary in the deserts to the north. Although Abdulla outnumbered the KulSary horsemen he was unable to make inroads into the province as the desert warriors cut into his infantry. Abdulla was forced back to Khazakh with losses numbering over four thousand men. The lands of Arbiliq and Saksiny were put under the plough and the wilderness pushed back |

Philippe, King of France
|
Phillipe continued to rule from Paris but was now assisted by his uncle the Regent Louis. Sadly, his wife Eleanor of Burgundy was unable to provide the young king with an heir during these years as two young sons were stillbirths. Thibault took the short journey to the city of Burgone in Burgundy but was unable to improve on the long standing alliance already in place with the city. The south of the kingdom was once again protected by Enguerrand as he patrolled from Aquitaine with the French army. Some of Frances large treasury was spent on improving the Burgundian lands and the independently minded city of Burgone. Despite their best efforts, French missionaries to Liguria were still to make little progress in converting the Moslem majority there. |

Sigismund, King of the Germans
|
Sigismund founded the cities of Zurich in Switzerland and Achensee in the Tyrol. The royal highway was completed to connect the new cities to Bavaria and onto Hanover. Before finally bringing Cannes fully into the kingdom, Heinrich oversaw the commissioning of eighty warships in the citys docks. Karlmann travelled to Lyonnais where he was able to gain full tribute from the province. Sigismund dispatched Frederick to pacify the independent province of Holstein. The general took command of weight thousand men out of Hanover and moved to quell any opposition in the province. The Holsteiners proved a stubborn enemy but outnumbering them four to one meant that they were gradually being worn down. It was the sudden death of Frederick during a skirmish outside of Kiel that saw some relief for the defenders as the Germans were forced to pull back to Saxony. Albert was to have little luck in his attack on Lausatia with his three thousand foot when he was captured by Lausatian irregulars and held prisoner. His men, now leaderless, retreated to Saxony. |

Linnea I, Queen of Orkney and the Isles
|
Great fortresses were built in the Hebrides and to control entrance to the Skaggerak at Agder. Queen Linnea continued to send gold east to Kiev and to support Le Marteau Order. She also busied herself were the kingdoms mercantile affairs before ruling from Kirkval. She was blessed with three young children during these years with her husband, Prince Ewan of Caithness. The prince remained with the Queen throughout these years and occupied himself with recruiting mercenary cavalry for the army. The bastard prince Latrell was sent to the Order to become a Brother; his life now turned full circle as he joins the Order of his father. Calder returned from the Faeroes and travelled south to Amsterdam where he assisted Ovar in gaining a claim on the city. Both lords returned to the Orkney court in late 1413. Wotan took a small escort from the Faroes to Caithness where he persuaded the redoubtable Fergus to provide gold to the Orkney treasury. Before his death in 1412, Brother Tirancourt travelled with Innu Spirit-Speak to the lands of the Iroquois where the pair were able to convert the tribes to Catholicism. Tirancourt was buried in those far lands before Innu returned to the lands of the Mohawk. To further assist the Order, Queen Linnea ordered that a Preceptory be built in Hordland but missionary work in Musa came to nothing as the Jumalis continued to resist conversion. Before his death in 1410, Skagga was to bring home the army in Norway as with the death of the perfidious Sanfrida the fear of a Svear attack abated. |
(Roman Catholic Civilised
Religious Order)
Constantin, Hammer of God
|
With their reach now stretching to the new lands to the west, the Order built a fortress on the Naskapi coast called Avant-poste de Dieu. Grandmaster Constantin accepted Prince Latrell back into the Order after being adopted by the Orkney Queen. Relations were to resume with the Svear after Sanfridas death and trade re-established with the northern kingdom. Brother Tanguy was to improve the Orders knowledge of the southern seas as he successfully mapped the route through the Sea of Portugal before returning to Brest. Once the Naskapi fortress was completed, Brother Brian and Brother Henri returned home to Kirkval. Some progress was made in converting the Jumalis in Viipuri and Houses for the Order were raised in Alsace and Gdansk as the Order also spread to the east. |

Peter, King of the Rus
|
Before his death in 1410, King Fedor had ordered that rutters to known to the Varangians be sent to both Constantinople and Kirkval. With Peter become king at such a young age he was pleased to enlist the aid of his younger brother Prince Ragnar to support him in the affairs of state. He was also to enlist the aid of his fried the lord of Smolensk. Count Peter was to travel to Pereaslavl with Osberic in order to gain the support of the province that had been independent far too long. One of King Peters first acts was to ensure the defence of the kingdom by building a series of fortifications throughout his provinces. |

Michael, Emperor of East Rome
|
The Emperor ordered that the
Noble House of Byzantium was to receive accurate copies of the rutters for
the Black Sea, the Gulf of Cyprus and the Ionian Sea to enable the traders to
grow their businesses. Gold was also sent to the Knights of Malta in the
understanding that they would vacate the city of Athena and leave it open for
Roman occupation. The Emperor further
aided the Knights cause by raising a House of the Order in the Kyklades but
missionaries in Rhodes made little headway in converting the few remaining
Moslems on the island. Several coastal
forts were built in Rhodes to deter any AlBahri aggression. The Emperor then
remained in Constantinople to oversee affairs of court and to be with his family. Before his death in 1413, Duke Alexius
continued to patrol the waters off the coast of Nikopolis. Duke Demetrious was to die in the summer of
1410 before he could achieve much success in Attica. However, the Knights
withdrawal from the city of Athena saw the Empire gain their allegiance. |
The Order of St Vladimir
(Roman Catholic Civilised
Religious Order)
Dmitry, Grandmaster of the Order of St Vladimir
|
Dmitry was to send copies of the Orders rutters to the Romans in Constantinople and his Varangian allies. The Grandmaster then travelled to Perograd in Pereaslavl to support his agents in investigating the city for any cultist activity. However, little evidence was found that anything suspicious was underway there. With Ragnar dispatched to Atelzuko to protect the Orders southern possessions, Harald travelled to Constata to aid Sigurd completing the construction of the Orders House in the city. |

Anastasius Makrembolites,
Chairman of the Noble House of Byzantium
|
Rutters were received for the
Seas around the Mediterranean from Makrembolites
sponsors in Constantinople and trade established with the Hungarians to their
outpost in Constanta. Makrembolites himself travelled though Thessaly to Morea
establishing connections for the trader in both the regions. |
