CAMPAIGN TWENTY-FOUR
New for T73
Noble House rules have
been added – please take a look at these here.
New Spreadsheet
for the Renaissance has been created – this can be found here and must be used
from now on.
Some
tinkering with the Religious
Order rules.
I’m going back to standard
movement rules – sigh – as it is just taking too much time to rewrite these.
Please continue to give your orders in year chunks though – The newly created spreadsheet
should help with this
New for T59
Paths to victory: There are several options open to a player when an NPN has been defeated
Dealing with hordes: Hordes can be dealt with a number of ways rather than just an outright battle. These are
You can also use a combination of the above. If the horde
becomes a FA or A, you can direct its attacks or its path of migration.
New for T57
Non-player rules update: I’ve updated the NPN
rules to fit better with the Lord’s system. Please check them out.
New for T53
Restrictions on Royal Marriages: Due to the complications
arising from these rules only K, H or P leaders can benefit from a Royal
Marriage. Members of the Royal Family that have not come into play are not
considered eligible. Also, Primate, Order and Secret Empire positions are not
eligible for marriage bonuses. These are meant to be diplomatic arrangements
between sovereign states.
New for T52
East – West Split: I’m going to try to
split the East and the West parts of the game so that I can process the orders
quicker – don’t know if or how it will work yet but lets
see if it’ll happen
New for T51
No Orders: If I don’t get any orders in for a
position and the player doesn’t answer my emails then I’ll put the position
back to a NPN and put aside the players cash (if any) until they pick it or
another nation up again.
New for T50
Request Royal Marriage: Used to ask a NPN
nation for a bride for one of your Princes or a suitor for one of your little
Princesses. Cost is 6AP, Charisma based. The leader doesn’t have to be in the
NPNs capital but if he isn’t then he needs to be in your homeland/capital.
New for T49
Naval Reaction and Blockade: Naval Reactions can
only occur when there is action in a Sea Zone that the fleet is based at. The
fleet has to be based from a port and not the Sea Zone. Also, the Reaction can
only occur when your own lands or those of an ally benefiting from a Defensive
Pact marriage bonus are attacked. It also applies to any merchant fleets you
operate through the Sea Zone in the case of piracy. Naval Blockade’s only work if your fleet is
based in the same Sea Zone as the target port and you spend all (every single
one) of your APs in the blockade. The fleet must be based from a port and not a
Sea Zone.
New for T48
The use of fleets for Reaction and mitigating
the effects of Pirates: My understanding has now changed since we GMs have had some
discussion on the list. The use of Reaction has been explained on the Wiki and
Patrol is no longer used in the Base Rules.
Reaction
Trade Route Escorts
Updated NPN and Primacy rules: Yep, been tinkering again but I feel a almost serene sense of satisfaction with my latest offering. See what you think.
Added the ability to hire mercenary captain when there is no mercenary company available: See the mercenary tables
New for T47
Improved cultivation at TL5: If a nation has reached the dizzy heights of TL5 than it can benefit from improved cultivation. You can Improve a cultivated homeland region from 2GPv to 3GPv, or any other controlled cultivated region from 1GPv to 2GPv. This is a level one megalithic construction.
New for T46
NPNS: I’ve tweaked the NPN and Primacy/Order rules a
little to make them fit better with the 24 game. I’ve also reduced their overall
RRV to make diplomacy easier.
New for T45
New Rivers: I’ve added in some new possible rivers
onto the map. These are rivers that were once passable by light traffic
(remember Cogs cannot travel on rivers) and have now become silted up. You can
dredge a stretch of the river (along one region border edge) as a 0.5 level
project.
Gripes:
Agro as
conversion – this has restrictions (see 2.11.5.3) which I will be enforcing
from now on.
Rivers can
only support light ships – as far as I know Cogs cannot travel on rivers. This
also includes Cogs built for trade.
New Primates: We have two new Primate positions this
turn. Jumal Skyfather,
which is an Estonian god and the Coptic Church based out of Axum.
New for T44
Minor islands and City States: I’ll be allowing minor
islands (Corfu, Jerba, Wight etc)
and city states to be used as locations from T44. Just let me know the
rationale behind why you want it separate and if reasonable I’ll add it in.
Once they are created as locations, they obey all the rules of islands etc.
However, their Gpv cannot go above 0.
Flooding: The last few turns have seen a massive
increase in the amount of flooding that has occurred. It appears that the years
are getting warmer and wetter. As a result of this some of the minor rivers on
the map are once again becoming passable to river traffic.
Denmark: Following on from the Minor Islands stuff, you
can see that Denmark is now separated out to Jutland and Syaland
(Zeeland).
Announcements
and items of note
General Stuff: Please use my Paypal account (stephenbrunt@yahoo.co.uk)
for all Lords’ 24 payments. If you cannot use this facility then please let me
know and I will see what I can do about filtering US funds to my account. I may
also stop using the throneworld email address due to
the mass of spam I’m getting!
Order Form: Please use the standard excel order form
from now on. I’ll update the site with a link
to it next week when I get some time. This is important as it helps me process
the turn more quickly. THIS IS NOW MANDATORY.
Non-Payment: some of you still owe
me some cash. Although it may come as surprise that this is not my main source
of income, I see it only polite that you pay for the occasionally night out.
So, if you’re under zero next turn I’ll not process you orders.
Version 6: Lords 24 uses version 6 of the basic rules
The Map: The map now includes
India as well as Europe, Central Asia and Africa. I’ve greyed out repeated
areas on the maps to make my life easier. However, this means some player
nations are split across more than one map. I may increase the size of the main
map but I’ll have to think on this.
Tithes and Tribute: I think these are
automatically updated by the stats program, so no need to declare them in your
orders.
Control
of the Papacy and Religious Orders: In Lords 24 we will not always have
a player Pope (or Caliph etc for that matter) and the
following rules are used to determine which player faction controls the Pope’s
actions, Papacy Rules.
I’ve also added some stuff about gaining support from their armies

Tiroman IV,
Caliph of the Akramids
|
Tiroman’s rule continued peacefully as the Caliphate continued to recover from the effects of the plague. North Africa was of particular concern to the Caliph and the majority of his efforts went into improving his possessions there. The diplomatic efforts of Takhan and the Emir of Zirid saw the Emir of Kabilya submit fully to rule from Seville. This was offset slightly by the death of Zirid and the new Emir’s insistence on paying tribute only. Beehr was to also enjoy diplomatic success as he brought the Galacians fully into the Caliphate during these years. Tarquin was again tasked with ensuring the Ligurian pirates were kept at bay but was to fall ill from a fever in early 1379 and perish shortly afterwards. Luckily, the northern Italians had no desire enter into open conflict with the Caliph and were content to spend their energies in Mikhael alone. Tiroman had dispatched priests to Liguria and Genoa in an attempt to gain converts from there and was to enjoy considerable success, especially in Genoa itself. He was blessed with another daughter by his wife, Sara of Seville and was to name his young son, Tiroman V his heir. . |

Naj Muhammad, Sultan of the Buwayids
|
Najee cemented his rule by conducting a census on the Sultanate. A massive army of thirty thousand men was raised in Baghdad along with four thousand for Najee’s heir, Prince Naj Muhammad. The young prince was to marry from the Hahmar dynasty after arriving at his father’s court and was blessed with a young daughter.. Gathering his considerable forces together, Najee travelled to Diyala with Ahmad II-Aja with the intention of recovering the Sultanate’s eastern provinces from the rebels. However, the journey proved too arduous for the Sultan and was to perish from a fever in early 1380. Taking control of the army, Ahmad pushed on into Media where he was met by the Persian forces of ten thousand men. Although vastly outnumbered, the Persians had set up a line of defence around the considerable number of forts that scattered Media’s landscape and despite his best efforts to dislodge them; Ahmad could not get his forces to force the Persians back. His final push ended in disaster as the Persians routed the invaders and forced Ahmad to flee back to Diyala, his army in tatters. With his father’s death and Ahmad’s defeat at the hands of the Persians, Naj Muhammad was able to secure his rule of the Sultanate. Despite the Roman’s attempts to stop the Sultanate’s agents, they were still able to gather information about their new technology. |

Louis, King of France
|
Prince Henri, nominally the heir to Louis II, died whilst in his estates in Aquitaine. His duty to protect the southern frontier was taken up by Martin after he had travelled south from Paris. Charles II was appointed heir, a nomination that was more acceptable to France’s elite as he had a greater claim on the throne than that of the later Henri. Louis II’s rule Paris was only marred by the death of his wife in childbirth. Remy’s efforts in Burgone saw the city begin to pay tribute to Paris. The French road network was extended to Orleans from Limousin. |

Einhenjar I, King of Orkney
|
Einhenjar’s fleet was augmented by a further twenty warships, one thousand marines and a force of four thousand foot soldiers. Queen Roselind had conspired with Grandmaster Harenhal of the Le Marteau to punish the heathen Jumalis of Estonia. Giving command of her fleet to Einhenjar, the young Queen had taken the General to her bed and declared that he would be King. The Orkneymen welcomed Einhenjar as their King and rejoiced at the prospect of new spoils from the Baltic adventure. Einhenjar, now King of the Orkneys, gathered his fleet and men, now numbering over eleven thousand men, at Kirkval. He was advised by Brother Piers of Le Marteau and once the Order forces under the command of Herenahal were ready, set sail for Estonia. Sailing through the Skagerrak and on into the Gulf of Finland, Einhenjar’s fleet encountered the Estonians as they raced out to meet them. The sea battle was short and harsh with the Orkneymen outnumbering the defenders four to one. After sinking the majority of the Estonian fleet, Einhenjar pursued the survivors into Reval harbour. The losses amongst the Orkneymen were slight but Brother Piers had taken a wound to his side in the conflict and was to play little part in the ensuing assault. Once his forces had entered Reval harbour, Einhenjar gave over command to Harenhal and Le Marteau for the assault on the city. The attack on the Ests was a disaster, Einhenjar barely returned home with his life, Brother Piers was mortally wounded and returned to the Order’s fortress in Kirkval on his return. The Order itself blamed Einhenjar for the losses it had occurred and withdrew its support from the Kingdom. Some of the more independent minded provinces took this opportunity to declare their independence but on a whole, Einhanjar managed to retain control of the Kingdom and its allies. Princess Sanfrida had travelled to Stockholm to persuade the Svear to once again support the Orkney cause. |

Aethelhard, King of England
|
King Aethelhard returned to
London from his Spanish holdings in Asturias and ruled his kingdom from the
city during these years. He had laid the defence of the seas of England in
the capable hands of Prince Wusfresa. Lord Eadwald had
travelled to Navarre to arrange a marriage between the young king and a
princess from the province. He spent the remainder of his time improving relations
with the Navarrese. . |
Le Marteau de Dieu
For their support in the upcoming Baltic Crusade against the heathen Jumalis, Heranhal bequeathed the use of the Order’s clerks and administrators to the Orkney Kingdom. With the Brothers Geoffroi and Jehan, Hernahal collected his force of over five thousand men and set sail to Reval with the Orkney fleet. The Orkneymen had soundly defeated the Estonian fleet outside Reval and had pursued the survivors into the harbour. Harenahl took command of the combined Orkney and Order forces and rallied his forces for the attack on the city. The Estonians were led by Bradick III of Moltha and were a near match for Harenhal’s forces. Although not a commander of Harenhal’s stature, Bradick had the advantage of Revals walls and the knowledge that the invaders had to attack from their ships. The first attack by Harenhal failed to dislodge the defenders. He had personally led the forces and was disastrously taken captive during that attack. Command of the allies then fell to Brother Jehan but again the attackers were forced back. This time Jehan taking wounds leading the attack. Finally Einhenjar took command, no longer able to see his men die attacking Reval’s walls under the command of lesser men. But even his presence could not avert the disaster of the final attack as his remaining forces were trapped and cut down before they could even enter the city. Brother Jehan was to later die of his wounds and Harenhal’s head was to shown on a spike to taunt the fleeing remnants of the Order and their Orkneymen allies. With the death of Heranhal the Order was forced to elect a new Grandmaster, choosing Brother Geoffroi as the only survivor of the attack. Despite the failure of the Crusade, some success at converting the Jumalis in Moltha was successful.

Anastasia II, Queen of the Rus
|
After the death of Peter, Ursula took stock of the Rus people to ensure her tax collectors did not miss any coin or tribute from them. She had brokered a husband for Anastasia from the House of Kiev before declaring her the heir to the Varangian Kingdom. Queen Ursula’s rule was short lived after she died of a fever in 1381; Queen Anastasia was then coroneted quickly to avoid any unpleasantness. It was General Georgi who was ordered to quall the Bulgari and give assistance to the Vladimirians in their attack on Moldavia. However, the nomads were more than a match for the Rus and the Order and Georgi was repulsed back to Pechneg. |

Romanos, Emperor of East Rome
|
The port city of Corfu in Epirus was rebuilt after the depravations of the plague. Its walls were rebuilt and to prevent further attacks from the Al’Bahri pirates, the walls of Nikopolis were also improved. Prince Michael, first child of Romanus and Laodice was declared Romanus’s heir. Some influence was gained with the Knights after the Emperor spent these years in correspondence with their Prelate and offered to send a small tithe to their order. He was also present at a demonstration of some newly forged canon created by the Empire’s engineers. Although still a prototype, the canon performed well and showed the Emperor the power of the new weapons. After escorting the colonists to Corfu, Duke Nautilus was to fall ill and die in later 1380. |
The Order of St
Vladimir
Still quite an impoverished order, the Vladimirians were only able to raise six hundred cavalry for their intended campaign in Moldavia. Their holdings in Chernigov and Varangia were also reduced as the Rus began to question their effectiveness against the nomads and Moslems. Before his death in 1381, Sigurd had conspired with the Rus to regain Moldavia from the Bulgari. He had dispatched Eric and Georgi to Pechnograd where the Order rendezvoused with the Rus troops under the command of their General Georgi. Facing the Orders’ forces for eight thousand men was an equivalent number of Bulgari horsemen. Given the Bulgari were defending their homeland, the forces under Eric’s command stood little chance at dislodging them and where forced back to Pechneg. Eric was then to take command of the Order given the unpopularity of Georgi and the young Sigfried.
Pratihara Kingdom of Kaunaj
(Hindu Civilised Open Empire)
Rajeesh, Raja of Kaunaj
|
Before he could travel to Sahis, Sriram was attacked at in Mansura and killed in the skirmish. The attack appeared to be nothing more than local bandits looking for gold. Thole managed to escape unscathed and continued onto Sahis alone where he was to spend the remainder of these years on a diplomatic mission for Rejeesh. The Raja had himself been occupied with ensuring the growth of his greatest cities, Tamralipti, Benares, Bihar and Gaur. His rule from Kaunaj ensured the prosperity of the realm and his succession was assured when his son Suresh came of age. Rejeesh left Usram to command the kingdom’s armies in case of attack and was assisted by Dru until the noble’s death in 1383. Hindu priests successfully converted the city of Lahore and made inroads into the Muslim faith at Islamabad. However, as the kingdom became more urbanised, the priests grip on Hindu society began to slide. |

Singhasari III, God-Emperor of the Sri Vijaya
Singhasari declares that his son Agung Eko should be his heir. He also recognised his bastard son Agung Wira and promoted him to a prince of the realm. The death of Tribhuwanna aside, these years saw the God-Empire grow in prosperity. |

Junji Yasumori,
Shogun of the East
|
The Shogun continued to discuss terms with the defeated Tairanese after the years of conflict. He dispatched Ky to the north-west in an attempt to explore the route to the Attu islands but the intrepid explorer failed to return. Also in the north-west, colonists moved into the Tigil frontier and began to settle the wilderness. The cities of Heian and Edo grew in size during these years as peace returned to the Shogunate. Admiral Sakito was to perish in early 1379, leaving the Minamoto fleet in Shiminoseki. |
The Kingdom
of Chiang’Ning
(Buddhist Civilised Open
Empire)
Ban Ao, King of Chiang’Ning
|
Accepting the surrender of the Chengshi, Ban Ao travelled to Shensi after leaving a garrison on Chekiang. His attempts to improve relations with the Song took a turn for the worse after the fortuitous gains of previous years. At least the Song agreed to his merchants extending their trade routes to the Rajputs and a wife for his son, Prince Ban Zheng. The city of Chiangning grew in size during these years. Ban Ao assigned a garrison of sixteen thousand horse to Meng Buwai in Tai Pei. The general was given orders to ensure the kingdom’s security. Ning Tang fared well in Tangchou as the province declared its full support for Ban Ao. With the banning of the Wudan Order in Ban Ao’s lands, their sites began to fall derelict and their presence in the kingdom was greatly reduced. |
