Welcome to L27, I am your GM for L27; my name is Chet S. My Lords GM address is: Lords27gm@throneworld.com for orders and L27 stuff, and my L27 paypal address is: Chetb5@snet.net
Turn fee is still $5.00, but if you pay by credit card though paypal please include $0.50 cents * per turn payment to cover the Paypal credit card fee. Also I do not accept any personal checks as my bank charges me a $20 fee for any bounced checks that I deposit...(Money orders & certified checks are ok.)
Any nation that reaches a -$10.00 balance without making an arrangement with me will not be processed, * and not sending orders in for three turns in a row in addition to not making payments, will force me open your country to a new player who has the time and money...
I have policy of no switching nations if your balance is in the red, until that negative balance is paid and you must also pay for one turn ahead so your in the black.
Please use this Order form if it runs on your computer: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lords-27/files/L27_Excel_orders_template.xls
If you do not have Microsoft Excel, there is a free version of Office called OpenOffice that will open, edit and save Excel file at: http://www.openoffice.org/
Do not put new or old projects in the builds section of the above Order form; they only go in the new or old projects section, and do not delete any part of the order form that you are not using, just leave the unused sections blank and do not add any page-breaks either.
Make sure your e-mail address is right in your orders, that is the address the program will send your stat sheet to...
Troops builds: If your leader is in the region already, don't build troops for the garrison and then have him pick them up, just build troops for him.
Mercenaries: Remember that you MUST specify a city where you are hiring the Mercs. Failure to do this will result in no Mercs and the money being lost. Also, mercenaries may not be hired for more than one turn at a time. This may change when the Years per Turn reduces sufficiently enough for a contract to carry over to multiple turns. PLEASE put where you are hiring any mercenaries AND how many you are trying to hire AND how much you are willing to pay per point of troops in your builds section on the order form. PLEASE put this information in the notes section at the end of your builds. Otherwise you will not get the mercenaries and the GPs bid on them will be lost.
For Public works (PWB) builds, please state whether its for a region or city in your builds section. (Like "Region of Kashmir", "City of Atlantis"...).
Claimed Regions and Cities: These regions and cities will be noted by a dot in your color, not a full color shading of the region.
My rule changes: (* = New starting this turn)
TRANSFERS: A lot of orders don't state if the transfer was spent, or saved, or even received, so all gold transfers will go into gold savings and all agro transfers will into reserves and the receiving nation will not be able to spend or convert them until next turn after (the agro will still help against famine). BTW gold or agro transfers will not be refused by receiving nation unless you state in your orders that you do not accept gifts from so and so, or from anybody...
Lords 27 now uses Rules: 5.10.0 and this game uses HOT - Hands Off Trade
From now on, leaders by their self do not need to have ships to travel across water (unless they are exploring)...
Rule & Admin Actions: Only the King, Regent, Heir, Primate, Archbishop, Grandmaster, or Master may conduct a Rule action. Only an Heir, Prince, Master, Archbishop, Bishop or Lieutenant may conduct an Admin action.
Only Kings & Queens, and Heirs can have children (HC). Having Children: A leader (Kings & Queens, and Heirs) conducting either Rule, Defend (not React), or Admin in the Capital or Homeland region may also perform Have Children actions at the same time. I'm assuming he's not working 24 hours a day on Administrating! Also, please let me know for how many actions your King, Queen, Heir, etc, is having. Unless, it's not specified, I'll assume the HC action is being done for the entire turn. Finally, if the individual doing the HC is female, there is a chance that they may die in childbirth...
Leader assistance: If a leader is assisting another, please make a note of this in the assisted leader's orders, and a tip for you: large armies with only one leader are hard for them to handle and if the single leader is killed, they will fall apart.
Keep track of action points & total action points for your leaders, (& if you build troops for leaders please state in the builds section for which leader A#01, etc), otherwise your leader might end up doing nothing.
AP reminder: please remember that it is the slowest unit of a given force that determines which unit modifiers apply towards determining APs/year. So if your army of light, elite cavalry includes even one heavy infantry unit, the footsloggers are slowing everyone down. Also if a leader has a combat rating of four or less, he has a –1 AP per year modifier when he is with any type of troops.
Unnamed leaders: suffer a –1 to their action points per year and Kings without names will be named by me if you don't, also unnamed cities do not get built, what's more leaders need to keep track of their AP expenditure in their orders or run an excellent chance that they will do nothing the entire turn, and need to have the leader number along with the name, i.e. L01 for King, L02 for Heir, etc (same as the stat sheet)...
Allied Leaders: the following are the rules concerning allied leaders. Any troops attached to an allied leader may not be detached for any purpose. They stay with the allied leader at all times. Allied leader units may not be demobilized, although they will go away if the player decides to reduce the control level of the allied region or if the allied leader dies and is not replaced. Players may build or assign additional units to the allied army but such units become part of the allied army and may not be taken back.
Loaning troops: Loaned troops must be accompanied by one of their own leaders and the troops stay with that leader, if you give troops away then they are divided by two so the receiving nation only gets half of what you send them (and no you can not give away leaders, except for princes to churches as per the rules).
Leaders as Espionage Points: If you're using a leader for an espionage operation or bonus point, they must be located in the region or city where the operation is occurring. If the op is a spectacular failure, there is a chance that any leader assigned to the operation may be caught or killed, which can be embarrassing.
HORDE RULING: Hordes are to be played by a single player (or maybe played by an Americans player if no other can be found).
Certain builds take an entire turn to perform (although for clerical reasons are usually done at the same time as the rest of the builds). These are: City Construction (both new and additional levels), all Megalithic Construction Projects, Colonies, and Fortresses. (What this means is that you may not take advantage of a given build of this type on the turn that it is constructed. For example: you may not base MSPs or build PWBs at the increased city capacities until the turn after the construction is done. Similarly, PWBs may not be built in excess of a region's old terrain type the turn it becomes cultivated or colonized to a higher GPV. Please plan accordingly.)
Demobilizing Units: you cannot demobilize units and rebuild them elsewhere on the same turn. This is not allowed as per rule 5.4.6 indicates. However, unlike the rules, I will allow demobilized units to be rebuilt elsewhere on the turn following their demobilization or later. The NFP simply go into your saved NFP slot.
Regional Cultivation is now a base level one project, but I will be using the megalithic construct cost multiples on table 6-2.
Empty ( / ) regions need at least one troop to garrison them if you want to claim them and you can't DP them as there is nobody home.
Diplomacy on Pacified & Pacified Tributary: Diplomacy can be conducted on these regions with the success number being added to the Years from Conquest (YfC) number on your stat sheet. It is still a long process...
Colonization Any region that is cultivated or has been cultivated and is less than 2 GPV can be increased in value up to 2 GPV for the cost of 15 GP and 15 NFP per GPV of increase. Any named island can be colonized to 1 GPV.
Homeland colonization: any tech 6 nation can colonize their homeland to level 3 GPV, assuming its cultivated (and already 2 GPV) for a cost of 20 NFP and 20 GP. Any tech 9 nation can colonize their homeland to level 4 GPV, assuming it's cultivated (and already 3 GPV) for a cost of 25 NFP and 25 GP.
Exploration: With the following exceptions, all nations have knowledge of sea zones only within trade range of them, unless they have the rudders listed on their stat sheet, and all European nations have knowledge of all sea zones that border Europe (Mediterranean and Atlantic).
Rudders cannot be sold or shared the same turn that they are explored and discovered; word of and maps of the rudders need to make it back home.
In L27 Mercs are listed by religion, and they prefer to be hired by their own religion (and will chose theirs over yours if different), so if your a tolerant religion [See chart on L27 site] then you can hire them, but if you're a hostile religion then forget about hiring them.... *Mercenary Commanders & Mercenary Leaders: If you hire any of the mercenaries available in an area, a merc commander comes with them and they must stay with the merc commander at all times. Also a Merc leader since he is named. he outranks a commander and may be hired with the Merc Commander and troops as a extra (or main / backup) leader.
Exact Tithe: A Primate needs to have an Influence in the country where the EXT operation is taking place. If you do, you can exact a tithe % equal to or less than the influence value. So if a primate had a two influence in a nation, the primate player could attempt to exact a one or two percent tithe. This makes establishing influence extremely important. The maximum influence a primate can have in a given country cannot exceed the latter's RS.
Loot Religious Site: It is the same as a loot region action, were half of the loot must be given to the troops, or if you don't give half, it might cause mutiny.
Sea zones marked on the map with an "H" are hostile, and you will lose ships and maybe leaders if you try to pass through them, regions with "HS" are hostile to you DPing them (and most other actions)...
*Attacking a Field Fort defended province costs +1 AP extra.
*MAX TAX is going to stay at 2.0 for now, and trade income will be caped at 1.5 of your income for T40, for T41 will be 1.25, then down to 1.0 on T42.

The Shogun Nareshi's letters to his sons:
Dear Aro (my Heir),
I am off the meet with the rebel Zu-Wang. If I should fall you may deal with him as you see fit. If all goes as planned I will return only to escort them to an island of their own. Before I die I wish once more to feel the sea spray in my face and chase the legendary sea dragons into the rising sun. I leave to you the responsibility and guardianship of the people of Japan. As advice I leave you these words:
As the old sun sets,
Night hides the garden flowers,
Morning brings new sights.
Dear Prince Okajuurou,
I am off to meet with the rebel Zu-Wang. I will deal with him and then take to the sea. Your brother will become the new Shogun and rule Japan. I wish you these things: Long life and adventure, and visit all the islands to the south and explore all you can, live life on the ocean and not tied to any one place.
Shogun Nareshi was of course never seen again, rumor had it that he died at sea in 693 at age 75, still chasing the legendary sea dragons...
Within the Shogunate backdrop, large, larger and very large investments were made in the bureaucratic offices, religious ops, and universities. The defense received attention too with 10,000 heavy infantry trained in Edo, along with 100 heavy warships commissioned. Process was made on the diplomatic front as two out of three of its leaders had productive missions. Whilst their missionaries did quite a bit of converting in the Marianas, Truk, while those sent Amgu found their work already done for them, and figured they were sent there by mistake.
Grandmaster Bodi died in 692 at the age of 58 in the city of Heian, he was attempting to establish an estate for the order, but surprisingly he was found in his locked hostel room with a ceremonial dagger in his belly (rumors that the Buddhist got their revenge, but no proof was found), the news cause the city's oratory to become reduced to a preceptory as panic and riots filled the streets upon hearing of the grandmaster's death. More death stalked the order as Bother Komitsu predeceased the Grandmaster by a year, he expired in Nigata of heart failure. A year after the Grandmaster's death, Master Han died of old age of 70 in Yamaguchi which of course prevented him from founding any site there. Its miltary forces depleted during the "War against the Samurai", the order had some 4,600 new heavy elite cavalry trained at Kwanto.
Primate Ch'Dong Den hired the Mahayana Mercs to help protect his temples, then he failed to found an abbey in Si-Lei, disgusted with himself he went to Honan and meddled in the merchant affairs there, afterward he got the Honans to agree to pay a little more tithe. Church support was given to help Korea's infrastructure and twice as much help was granted to the Black Dragon's. The legendry rudeness of Archbishop T'ing Po (very low charisma) got him thrown in prison in Yun, and his actions cause the church there to be burnt to the ground, after he foolishly remarked that a local official's wife looked like a whore, this all resulted with him unable finish his orders...
While Grandmaster Qin Zhan was charismatic enough, things just didn't go his way during his attempt to found an order estate in region of Honan. Somewhere within the inner recesses of the Order, somebody concluded that more field forts were needed in both Shangtung and Yen, but they didn't tell the builders whether or not they should hand them over to the Black Dragons when they were done building them, so they stayed in the Order's control. Roundabout the same time that Master Ji Yuan had success in founding a site in the city of Shaolin, but afterwards as he left to go establish another site in the city's region, he found that to his dismissal that his heart had stopped on him. By the Grandmaster orders the Order regretfully left the island of Cheju-Do and its city there, because they could no longer support the people there. It was also reported that missionaries were able to achieve great things in Lu'An by bringing it completely into Buddhism.
King Gui-Jin ruled until the day he died, suffering the effects of old age (of 63), his wife had predeceased him by a year, and he had lost the will to live without her. Before that plans were made for yet another invasion, in support of it, another 12,000 more (mixed) troops were raised for his heir Gang Hong-Rip (along with Leader Sejong), his young heir displayed yet again his military genius by another effective campaign. This time Hsuing Nu lands would fall to his troop's swords as they cut though three regions and made them his own with minor losses. His victorious return to the capital was marred by news of his father's death, but this was somewhat alleviated by the new crown placed on his head. Elsewhere Lord Jachun made a wrong turn into a dead-end ally in the city of Kaiching were he was robbed and killed.
Primate Le-Thu failed to set up four sites by not putting enough effort or money into it. His mind was on other things as he rushed to get to Chang'ling in order to help with a very important Intel operation, it was so important that four other church leaders aided him.
The church hierarchy was getting on in age so when two of the old archbishops passed away, rather than promote a couple of the older bishops, young blood was introduced as two new young converts were prompted instead. The church affairs consisted of some small investments were made for Intel and religious ops, along with cavalry, infantry and the university. Lastly the church made a show of support for the people by helping improve the city of Tii'Dawn. Likewise the church missionary's helped to fully convert the city of Kwangchou, and made some converts in Nan Chao, but they found Kwangtung to be already converted.
During Emperor Hu Tii's rule, he gave command of his troops to his heir Hu Dong and the Emperor took command of the rest of the troops from other leaders. Hu Dong who wasn't even twenty yet found himself in command of the largest army in China, if not in the whole world (but he had a couple of leaders to help him).
Within the Empire development continued forward as a new port city of Haibianr on road in Kwangtung, and a royal road from city in Hupei to city in Taiping, but for some reason no bridge was built to cross the Yangtze River, maybe that was in a second part to the road plans. Flooding cause a another river called the Xi River to change it from a gentle stream to a raging torrent, adding two more bridges that would be needed in the future. At the same time as three cities got expanded and public works were built in Chekiang. For the empire's defense 40, 30, and 10 field forts were scattered about in Nan Chao, Szechwan, and Hubei. While huge improvements were made to the realm's universities, and several small investments in the Empire's future. Again missionaries had some more talks with Fukien's local leaders, but this time they lost some of ground they had gained in the prior years.
Emperor Lui II personally led a diplomatic mission to Shengtung, but his personally wasn't good enough to make any progress. At the same time as Leader Di Dao followed his success in the Hsiung'Nu Campaign by repeating it by conquering two more regions from the Hsiung'Nu, good fortune was smiling on him, as one of the two region happen to be the Hsiung'Nu homeland. In a showdown with the Hsiung'Nu were defeated and Di Dao's forces killed both their King and Heir causing their Khanate to collapse, elsewhere in the war two more of the Hsiung'Nu cities were capture by other Black Dragon armies.
On the home front another leader named Wu Zhao Han tried some diplomacy in Funiu but got caught up in a street riot and died trampled underfoot. Almost too small to mentian was an investment that was made in the university, it barely enough to buy new scrolls.
Emperor Xi'an Zang paid a royal visit to Anhui with his heir and with two more of his leaders. They were there to improve relations with the newly conquered land. The visit went over quite well and relations improved. While within his realm the Emperor strengthen his defenses by having some new field forts built in the newly acquired lands, and in one of the regions a system of dykes and canals ensured fresh water for their rice patties, looking towards the future a small investment made in the Realm's universities. Further improvements consisted of rebuilding the port city of Morrischan in Tsainan to restart trade with Champa, and a new port city of Teiping was built in Kiangsu on the Huang Hai Sea. Emperor Xi'an Zang feeling the rigors of old age gave command of all his troops to his Heir Lui Zhaokang, the young man was already a great military mind, but he also had great ambition and during a party he gave in 695 (while still in Anhui) to celebrate the political success there, Lui Zhaokang had his father the Emperor brought out into the courtyard along with a leader that supported him, escorted by the heir's troops which were then ordered by Lui Zhaokang to shot them full of arrows...
Liao Chien, Khan of the Hsing'Nu died in glorious battle with the Black Dragons, he perished along with his heir, and his country crumbled to the onslaught of Black Dragon and Korea forces. The Hsing'Nu are now no more than a footnote in history...
Khan Kanata ordered his horde to pack up and move out, he led them to the region of Harbin, on the way he tried talking with the Chitin horde to join him, but got nowhere. Upon arrival it looked like he was planning to attack the Hsing'Nu in the next region over, but he was puzzled by reports from his scouts the Hsing'Nu were gone...
Warleader Nian got some agro and some gold from a minor bureaucrat of the Black Dragons, he picked it up in the tiny department of external affairs (having never stepped foot in the Imperial Court). He went back to, and handed it over to his Khan, and then he journeyed to Jungaria to wait for the Emirate's generous contribution to Mongolian charities.
Benevolent was Emperor Skanda's rule until he died in 695 at age 65 of the cough. It wasn't the only death to affect the empire as old lord Vishria slumped to the cough at age 76 in the middle of negotiations with Perak, his head banging off the negotiation table. The Emperor's Heir Gnialat II had transports built for him for his mission and journey to found a new port city of Celebes in Sulawesi on the Banda Sea / Molucca Sea border, afterwards he returned to the capital. Upon his return he was crowned emperor without any trouble and made two of his young sons prince and heir. The Empire just kept expanding as eight cities grew with an increase in public works to go with them, and cultivation was finished in both Timor and Moluccas.
King Tri Utvaditya II's rule was ever vigilant along with his troops (another 5,000 mixed troops trained), but his kingdom was also quite busy on the domestic front as Laos was colonized, cultivation start in both Lampang and Mison, the streets were widen and paved with cobblestones in Vijaya, and four cities were expanded. Before his accession, his heir Tri Jayaavarman II spent is time adding to the next generation, pampered in a life of luxury and comfort, his wife however was overworked as she produced five children in five years, three boys and two girls, but strangely both girls died in childbirth (rumors flew around the imperial palace that she had drowned the girls). More missionaries were sent to Kayah, but failed miserably and they undid years of work there.

Primate Davananda canonized a monastery in the city of Somantha, then injured his foot on the way to Edrosia and died from the infection upon his arrival. Archbishop Jawaharlal return from his very important mission to South Africa to established a temple in Mithi; incidentally he really was surprised to find out afterward that he was the next primate. Another large gold payment was made to Hindu Afriqan and a large investment was made in the church's operations that quickly bore fruit. Finally long overdue improvements were also made to the temple's places of learning, with new quills, inks and even new chairs. The Temple's naval commander Bishop Nara-Shinha was happy to receive another 1,000 elite infantry to man another 40 heavy elite warships in Banavasi. Whilst the rest of the temple's leaders had the misfortune of their Primate rub off on them as they fail in over half their attempts to establish new sites, and one failed so bad in Rajput that it was reduced to an abbey. Their missionaries didn't fair much better with a little success in Dhera-Dun, and twice as much failure in Bhutan.
The brash new Grandmaster Jumang had the charming charisma of a barbarian, his ways of offending others were of such a magnitude unseen within the order for generations, his harsh ways caused the complete failure of the site he was trying to establish in Berbera and it was surprising that the locals didn't run him out of the region (as it was his carriage was spattered by rotten fruit). Back home the order's hawks were surprised at all the small investments that covered almost everything, but neglect the military, and there was also a lot of talk that the order was getting soft (or was already rotten inside) as a large amount of manpower and gold was left unused. In the same way as the Grandmaster, another un-charismatic leader named Master Carn (must be one of Jumang's relatives) failed to found a site in the city of Neva. Not to say the Order's entire leadership was inept, as the younger and more charming brothers Pob and Baab each founded an order house on their own. While in Africa the newest and youngest brother Jym was successful in increasing the order's influence in Afriqan. Somewhere far away Master Lootio was still on his quest for lost ancient knowledge and many were not even sure when or if he would return.
Emperor Ilore's rule was uneventful while his personal life took a turn for the worse; for his third wife had three more kids, and then died in childbirth with the fourth. Elsewhere within the Empire's reaches the royal road from Mithi in Jats to Gujerat that was started fiver years ago was finally completed. Huge investments were made in the infrastructure, and religious operations that quickly paid off, what's more it came as a great surprise to the royal court that such a colossal investment was made in the universities, like going from wooden shacks to stone coliseums. In addition seven cities were expanded beyond their borders, as seven (not all the same ones) cities saw improvements made to their public works systems. Most noteworthy was that four out of five leaders (one died after drinking too much and drowned in a bathtub...) utterly overwhelm the region of Satava in their diplomatic efforts to get it to completely unite with the Empire.
Emperor Hupta gave no orders, while within his empire the upper Ganges River flooded and five roads were washed out and would need some bridges built.
During the last five years, Caliph Abu Bakr's rule partook of a little more economic development which consisted of a postal road from Hezim in Jungaria to Suachu, and the colonization of the desert region of Khotan, but many in the royal palace wondered what they would do with yet another desert region, and more question why the diplomatic efforts were continuing in the mountains of Tien Sham. Worse yet was the news that General Mu'awiya's slave gathering mission into the hostile region of Khalakan turned into a disaster when a stray arrow hit and killed the general, resulting in a situation were barely half of his leaderless army made it back into friendly regions of the emirate in one piece.

Emperor Qutlugh was still in his teens, but he show wisdom beyond his years and ordered 2,800 troops trained for his army, another 1,700 for his ally in Ferghana, for during his rule, he would see that his Empire would be secure. On the home front he found time to marry a lovely noble girl who he took a fancy to when he was still a child (she was a year younger than him), she was from their homeland and together they started a family with two healthy children. But rather than wait until his kids grew up he decide to make his younger brother his heir, whether that decision comes back to haunt him, time will only tell. Within the Empire a small investment was made to the university, public works were improved for the city of Axanja (no longer will the center of the street be used as a sewer), at the same time as the city Mara and Tolmak increased their population. Missionaries completed their work in Balkash with help from Lord Axander charismatic ways, while four other leaders had varying degrees of success in their diplomatic efforts. Surprising a couple of rivers overflowed their banks and four cities found themselves on the waters edge, as new ports with new opportunities to launch fishing fleets and internal trade.
Shah Ahmorad made some minor improvements, but he needs a player to make some major ones.

Patriarch Docan journeyed to Babylonia to consecrate a new cathedral and was happy to see that everything went according to plan. While Archbishop Bathys mission was just the opposite, he tried to establish a mere church and fumbled it so bad the locals authorities in Psidia threw him in prison and he wasn't able to complete the rest of his mission. Bishop Tarsis with his troops had a minor failure with an abbey in the city of Adalia in Isauria (he wasn't imprisoned or anything like that), but later on he was able to establish the first church in former ERE lands in the region of Asia, and while he was in Asia he ordered his troops to loot the St.Georgios' order site there but they couldn't find it, there was just a empty field were it use to be... Rarely but it sometimes happens, the youngest Bishop, named Naom outdid all his older associates by establishing three out of three sites. Builds within the church consisted of a good size investment was made in the bureaucracy offices, and a gold shipment was sent to Persian to help pay off a loan, while a bridge was built in Persia between D'yala and Mesopotamia, more help in Persia consisted of some new public works in Babylonia, last but not least trade was started with the Theban League. On a side note missionaries to Hellespontus reported some major accomplishments which was a little surprising considering it was a former ERE region.
Vahram VI took to ruling like it was second nature and the empire preformed admiralty (although a minor earthquake shook up the capital in 692). He married for the first time although he was already in his late forties and his wife blessed him with two daughters and a son. The ShahanShah also had two princes promoted to help within the empire, along with some new improvements made to the city of Tyre's public works. For the war effort about 20,000 mixed cavalry were trained and handed over to his heir and they left the capital for points unknown. Whereas missionaries to Al'Riadyh messed up, but those to Jabal Shammar made some headway.
While many of the war's participants played the miltary shuffle with their troops, the Farohars sieged the fortress in Phrygia and it and it's region fell to them before 695. During that time the ERE and its allies feared an attack by Hellas, but surprisingly the only battle that happened was a sea battle between Persia and the ERE in the Agean Sea. When a huge Persian fleet of almost 800 ships found the Greek fleet which was only about half its size, the winner was obvious the Persians, however the Greeks played dirty and subvert the lone Persian Admiral Cyrus (who had enough troubles controlling such a huge fleet by himself) into joining their side along with about 20% of Persian fleet, well the Greeks and their new ally pounded the remaining 80% that was leaderless and enraged by the betrayal, in the end there were just too many Persian ships to sink them all and about half of them made it back to the Persian port of Tyre to report the treachery...
Grandmaster Arshya personal dealt with Markus the rebel and he was a rebel no more, he was left hanging outside Ctesiphon's gates... On behalf of the city's defense he had more troops trained (about 15,000 assorted troops in fact). The order also worked together with the Persian Empire to improve the city of Tyre's public works (gave then them the concept of indoor plumbing). In 692 a minor earthquake hit Ctesiphon and of course it cause minor damage to the city and its walls. By the end of 695, the Grandmaster was very angry with his agents and gave them a terrible tongue-lashing for failing in their mission, but within himself, he was just satisfied that the Greek Fire was gone. Elsewhere Missionaries finally brought Qatar into the fold, while in Kuban two groups stepped on each other toes.
[See The Second Romano-Zoroastrian War (681-)].
Emperor Durwart died without an heir in 691, under mysterious circumstances, it seems that something the fat Emperor ate didn't agree with him. His cook Nasim (isn't that a Persian name?) seized power with his fellow cooks as everywhere nobles dropped like flies after their final meals. Those with Nasim seemed to belong to a sinister organization called "The Watchful Eye" their symbol a flaming eyeball burning on a platter, and it was revealed that their homeland was in the region of Alan, which was long thought to be steppes, but turned out to be a hidden garden with a mysterious (hidden) city fortress called Baki within it. Claims were made on neighboring lands as Naism consolidate his power and strengthen his rule, and to any that opposed him a final meal was given.

Empress Amenia ruled until she died in 695 at the age of 65, her heir Sarabis had died a year before as he was returning from Tunisia (left just before the disaster there), he died in a sandstorm in Ad'Diffah and his troops returned to the region of Egypt with his body. The Empress made her young son Merakh (know as "The Fat") her heir upon him turning fifteen. However Merakh was nearly eighteen when his mother died, making him became the new Emperor and he made his brother Djedkara (three years younger than himself) his heir. After his accession news reached the capital about a half a dozen of the Empire's cities or regions to the south had refused to acknowledge the new emperor and had broken away from the Empire. Further bad news greeted the new Emperor as the Treasury was robbed of some gold; luckily there wasn't much in it at the time of the robbery (and the assailant was never caught). For just before the robbery another large gold payment had been made to Kanem for agro and a huge payment made again to the W.R.E., along with a very large investment made to the Empire's infrastructure, and a large one made to the spy network. In addition to a payment made for almost 40,000 mixed troops to be trained for the war effort in the region of Egypt.
It seems to have ended in failure...
Also to be known as the Holy Grail War depending on which side you asked, carried on with the siege of Carthage in 691. The Vandals stopped a Theban assassin attempt on one of their leaders in Carthage, while the Thebans captured a Christian Church Archbishop trying to cause mutiny in their army, and the Arian Knights reported a failed attempt by the Coptic Church to subvert their leader in Tripoli. The Egyptians and their allies Theban Legion were also having increasingly trouble in getting supplies through four desert regions as the sea routes were closed down due to the volcano's activity. The Egyptians solved this in part by increasing support for their troops, but the Thebans let their troops starve. The Egyptians were also incredibly overconfident; knowing that reinforcements were on the way, they had their heir Sarabis go and conquer Tripolitania taking with him 10,000 troops, about a third of their 35,000 army that was besieging Carthage in Tunisia. That left the siege army with only 25,000 Egyptians along with another poorly supplied 25,000 Thebans; it was an army that was still waiting for a fleet from WRE to help them blockade the city. By the year's end with still no fleet in sight and before reinforcements arrived, disaster struck. It started with the Egyptians' best military leader named Lord Marakash being kidnapped from his tent, then while they were still in full siege of Carthage, an army from Kabilya, a Vandal / Knights of Arius force of 20,000 mixed troops attacked, follow by a surprise attack on their rear from Gefara by another10,000 mixed troops of the Knights of Arius, to make matters worse another 20,000 of Vandal / Christian Church force of mixed troops poured from the city gates. That spelled the end of the poorly supported Egyptian / Theban army. Both Theban leaders were killed and only the lone Egyptian leader was able to make it into Gefara with a handful of troops as most were killed or captured.
The year 692 began with a sea battle in the Bay of Tunis between pirates hired by the Vandals and a 200-warship fleet loaded with the troops of the WRE, the pirates were outnumber two to one, but their ships were better armed. The pirates lost half their fleet therefore had to withdraw to Carthage, but the WRE lost only 30 warships loaded with troops. After regrouping the WRE fleet continued on to Carthage and was met by the remainder of the pirate fleet and every warship, transport, and rowboat the Vandals could muster. The Vandals and pirates were then soundly defeated outside the port, and a Vandal Bishop captured by the WRE, but the WRE lost around 80 warships filled with troops, and one of their two leaders commanding the fleet was captured. The WRE was then ready to start their blockade of Carthage but they were surprised to find that Tunisia was completely under Vandal control and that the Egyptian / Theban army was gone... Completely puzzled by the situation the remaining WRE leader decided to return home to port in Latium with what was left of his fleet. The Vandals spent 692 reorganizing their forces and hunting down the surviving forces of Egypt and Theban. While the Egypt and Theban reinforcement armies arrived in Gefara by the year's end and heard from the survivors of the disastrous military defeat, thus enraged they made plans to reinvade Tunisa early the next year to get their revenge.
In early 693 the Egypt / Theban reinforcement army was beaten to the punch by the combined Vandal, Knights and Church army that attacked first into Gefara, a series of small battles raged for months until the E / T army decidedly defeated them on the shores of the bay of Tunis, resulting in the Vandal combine army having to withdraw in disarray back into Tunisa, unfortunately both Theban leaders were killed and their poorly supplied reinforcement army quickly dispersed, while the Egyptians captured the Vandal Baron of Idjil before he got away. Afterwards the Egyptian commanders decided to dig in with the remainder of their army in Gefara and wait for further orders, supplies and reinforcements, and hopefully a better supplied Theban army this time...
Master Maximius was released from his imprisonment by the Sicilians and made his way by ferry crossing to Calabria were he died due to old age (of 64), and maybe due to the effects of sleeping on a cold prison cell floor for a couple of years. Within the Order the rest of his leaders died too, except for Elder Brother Candid who arrived in Calabria to take command of the order's troops there, and collect his master's remains. The other four leaders died in the Coptic war and one never returned from a quest he was on...
Missionary work met with mixed results with some of their efforts countered by rival missionaries of the Christian Church, and a major investment was made in the university. For the war effort 25,000 mixed troops were raised in Egypt, but were soon lost in the war due to lack of foresight and planning.

Patriarch Cyril faced a rising tide of humanist thought that combined with a famine threaten to tear apart the Church, however he was able to stem the tide and the church's strength was only marginally weakened. Perhaps as a result many religious sites were abandoned, although rumor was that they had broken away from the church. Furthermore the Church met with failure in many attempts to weaken the Christian Church's hold in Sicily, almost as if something was blocking their every move there. Elsewhere the loan of infrastructure support was taken back at Theban's request, and within the Church investments were made in the religious works and operations along with the university, for the war new ships and troops were built to patrol the Gulf of Cyprus.

During Emperor Verhanu's rule, he had to deal with a problem that was opposite of the Coptic Church's, as religious fundamentalism swept though his empire and as a result helped his missionaries have great success in Kobowen, Sidamo, and Kefa. Peculiarly his empire also shared in the Church's famine, and the region of Gezira was cultivated to counter it. At the same time as his modern wife and heir had great diplomatic success in Gezira and nine months after her return blessed him with a son. Only bad news was that old Lord Brehann passed away in Zeila before completing his diplomatic mission, he was at the ripe old age of 73.
Around the Empire, for the first time the cites of Soba and Karnak saw city walls built around them to defend them, as well as some large and small investments were made in just about everything except for the university.
King Bhagadatta's rule was quite ordinary, only troubled by the report of Lord Brawabarh passing away at age 70, luckily Bishop Manish who was with him was able to carry on in Ras Hafun and the political mission was very well done. In the bounds of the Empire public works were built in Nyasa, and small investments made to the bureaucracy offices and university, the ones on the BL paid off quickly, at the same time as Brava was colonized and missionaries were successful in Loriu. To better protect the empire a few new field forts were scattered about it. Sadly efforts to hire the pirates to ship Afriqan troops on an enslaving mission was foiled by them being hired by the Vandals, and the troops were left on the docks of Mombassa.
Chief Zimba, the Spear of Destiny, went to revisit Chokwe and on his second trip there got them to agree to become feudal allies, on his return home he was overjoyed to hear that gold was discovered in his kingdom in the region of Kariba, and that Greatstone increased in size due to the influx of prospectors, there were also rumors that more gold was discovered to the south. Speaking of gold, a small gold investment was made in the university and a large one in the nation's infrastructure. Further news of concerning the kingdom was that the region of Kafue was Cultivated.
One of the Chief's leaders was made to feel like a fool, Hosmer went to DP the region of Hwanze and found it to be empty and he didn't have any troops with him to claim it with, so he return to report his failure, as another leader named Iswo died after a bug bite and left his troops leaderless. It was noted that flooding cause the Zambezi River to reach levels not seen in generations.
Grandmaster Amoebi went and personally founded three order sites. Together with his leaders they enjoyed a lot of success in founding five out of six sites. Before he left he prearranged some small investments to be made to his order's infrastructure, warship and infantry capabilities, and oversaw to some improvements made to the Order's defenses by having a fortress built in Sudan, and another fortress' walls were higher in Songhai, along with 7,500 new mixed infantry trained on Oyo.
The Emperor Nemo stayed on react with his troops and with his heir as his second in command, he also arranged the largest colonizing project that Africa has seen in years with four regions colonized: Jots, Daza, Soro, and Ghana. (With these improvements Kanem becomes even more the breadbasket of Africa) While a good size investment was made in the university. Elsewhere a large Kanem army led by a host of camel cavalry trekked through the Sahara Desert through the oasis of Bilma, Ghat-Al-Barkat, and reached the oasis in Ghadames. Exhausted from their arduous and dangerous march through the hostile desert, they rested and prepared for the final march and invasion of Arian lands.
King Cyrill's rule contained many great improvements to his kingdom's economy, (while his heir and his heir's wife had a son, but sadly she died in childbirth with the second son). Some of the improvements that were made: a new port city of Bachanan in Bomi, another new port city of Adibjan in Niete, Kwararafa cultivated, Gagnon cultivated, cultivation started in Bomi, some public works added to two cities, and a large investment in infra that quickly paid off, and a huge one in the royal university. Defense was not neglected as walls were built for most of the kingdom's cities and 2,000 siege engineers were added to the King's army. On the diplomatic front, Navkratos Mark claimed Niete, and Christopheros' good preaching in Bomi was a little undone by the missionaries poor work there. Also reports reached the Kingdom that flooding had cause the Benue River to become navigable.
Patriarch Ralston preached to his parish that God has placed the Holy Grail into the safe keeping of the Christian Church of God and suddenly after decades of peace the Coptic Alliance assaults the Vandals with campaigns to sway the Arian peoples from God's path. It was an unexpected assault. Who would defy gods will and wrench from the hand of his chosen protector the cup of Christ. But their Sin cannot hide from god and though he commands man to guard the Grail he will not suffer treachery and lies. As the Mighty Coptic forces assailed the Arian Nations intent on subduing the church and taking the grail for their own ends God smote them with his fury. A mighty Volcano erupted disrupting their assaults and ruining their invasions, leaving The Church time to call forth all men of God to expel the Coptic invasion and its heretical teachings, and protect the Grail by denying the Vandal borders to them. Only the Mighty Visgoths are not called to the Banner of the church and the Grail War. Their natural boundaries and dynastic issues with the wars they wage already are enough of a burden in God's eyes. (The call for the holy war is successful and will begin next turn, so tune in next turn for the start of the Crusade of Holy Grail War). More so Patriarch Ralston calls upon the Celtic Church to show its faith in God and Join in the war to protect the Grail by marching on the Coptic Western Roman Empire to deny them a foreign adventure in seeking the Grail.
Within the church advances are made in infantry capabilities while there is a military innovation within cavalry. The Church's missionaries are full of righteous in Sardinia, but find no Coptic influence in Tunisia. Alas Coptic agents are successful in damaging the Church's bureaucracy offices, while Egyptian agents blocked Church agents sent to do likewise to the Egyptians. For the war effort Arian mercs were hired and 6,000 believers joined the church miltary forces in Carthage, and Bishop Absal Idjil was sent on a mission to the south, but was never seen again...

Grandmaster Bseleric defend Carthage, and in preparation for the Coptic wars, had 5,000 mixed infantry recruited in Algeria under Master Eusebius, while the rest of the order's leaders were involved in the war effort in one capacity or another, except for Paul of Cartage who continued his diplomatic efforts in Arguin with some reported progress.

Emperor Garvin was so boiling mad that all his servants heard him say over and over again was two words: "Kill Coptics". He had all the Kingdom's allies and troops gathered with a magnificent plan to SMASH the Coptic army in Tunisia...
Within the kingdom a spy was wounded in Algeria but escaped, and Coptic agents heavily damaged not one but two levels bureaucracy in multipliable attacks. For the war more troops were commission to fight the war as 6,000 mixed troops were raised in Carthage, the King promised the royal count that they would fight to fight to the last and cause these Coptic dogs as much pain and coin as possible. We will take everything to the hilt as we fight these smelly invaders. We are a peaceful, quiet people, no more!!!!!!!!!!! (As rumors fill the streets that the royal family had fled the capital.)

King Koneric's rule continued to provide stability, just like his brother before him. His brother's son Mundberht and Koneric's new heir (it's a twisted family tree that grows in the northlands) married a pretty (for a northerner) noblelady of Livonia named Lodessa and together they retired to the palace in the capital and started a new branch on the family tree, albeit they had to wait about five years for their first child.
Around the kingdom the news of the first Celtic Christian church in Teuton (three more would follow, but a fourth in Riga collapsed soon after being built) spread, it was built in Estonia and there was a grand celebration to go with it. Elsewhere a couple of improvements were made to Latvia's public works, as the kingdom's siegework techniques improved. Word at the royal court was that the King had three of his leaders looking and poking around his kingdom, rumor was that one of them saw something big swimming off shore in the Baltic, just under the water, but couldn't tell what it was. While the almost famous General Stagar, (yes, one made in the mold of one of great military giants from Novgorod) took Prince Meinrad under his wing to teach him how to run a slave raid, and together the came back with twice as much slaves than before.
King Alaric finally held the reigns of rulership and he held on to them tighter than ruler the Goth people have seen in ages, in his paranoia he took command of all the kingdom's troops, although talk was that he barely knew which way to hold a sword. In the royal chambers his wife gave birth to three kids in three years and then died in childbirth along with the fourth. Lord Dimitri a good friend of the King's father, who had accompany him during that ill-fated trip to the south, died of a disease that he caught on that same trip, although rumor had it that he died of some tainted soup. King Alaric also promoted his brother Theodoric to prince at his coming of age party in 692.
Improvements to the kingdom consisted of further colonizing Kirivitch, and the city of New Seville was expanded, while public works were added to Kirov and Smolensk.
Khan Asparukh made major improvements and upgrades to his kingdom.

King Jon Wilshire was well into his sixties, yet his rule never wavered. He was still obsessive about the continuation of his line but he could not convince his old wife to leave the nunnery, not that she could produce any more children at her age. The King had one group of refugees settle in the region of Bohemia and housing built for them, while his heir (with another leader) brought the last group of refugees to colonize the region of Kauyavia. Young Lord Alois now in his early twenties got overconfident in his second diplomatic mission to Silesia and talks went nowhere.

King Hormizd I died
in 695, nobody succeeded him.
Diplomacy: Attica [UN], city of
Athenos [UN], Epirus [UN], Thessaly [UN], city of Pherae [UN]
King Hormizd started talks with a Persian leader named Lord Kavadh about rejoining Persia. Why you might ask? Well since the accession of his detested second cousin had caused his rebellion (not to mention the help of some Greek gold), but news that his detested second cousin ShahanShah Daryush had died of a fever had reached him, so King Hormizd was now more open to the idea of returning to the fold and serving under new Persian ShahanShah Vahram VI, for he had watch the boy grow up and he thought fondly of the young man.
Persian Lord Kavadh had been dropped off by the Persian fleet, and had a great support staff with him. The talks were going outstandingly, but at the last meeting with King Hormizd, just before the treaty papers were about to be signed, Lord Kavadh was surprised to see one of his staff jump up and plunge a dagger into King Hormizd's chest, just missing his heart, the assassin was promptly killed by the King's guard, and Lord Kavadh found himself in a deep dark dungeon cell. After the King recovered from his wound, he lived a couple more years until King Hormizd I passed away in his royal bedchambers at the age of 64, many say he suffered from the lingering effects from the stab wound from that Persian assassin, without a heir his kingdom fell apart and reverted back to ERE rule, its former Persian troops dispersed.

Emperor Ortaheus again kept his vigil of Constantinople, with the empire's army close at hand, but he gave command of the navy to a new (and a little on the young and inexperience side) Lord Remnoric, but Remnoric had greatly impressed his instructors in navel tactics in the classroom, and it was hoped that he could duplicate it on the seas. Tragic news reach the Emperor about how the city of Varangiapolis is sacked, but surprising not by the Persians, but by some strange madness that filled the street and riots broke out and destroyed the city. Elsewhere within the empire an attempt was made to damage the offices of the Bureaucracy, the empire's agents thwarted it, on the bodies of the assailants was found some Zoroastrian religious symbols. A report not yet confirmed came in about a large group of mixed Cavalry about 20,000 to 30,000 or more had crossed peacefully though the region of Patzinak heading north into Torki, they were flying no banners or flags and none of the locals got close enough to id them, the locals thought that they might be part of a horde. In the royal court rumor had it that the ERE's agents were in the middle of a major operation that if successful could change the course of the war, initial reports were that an enemy leader was subverted and had joined the ERE as an ally.
[See The Second Romano-Zoroastrian War in Sassanid Empire of Persia section for war details...]
Patriarch John was feeling the aches and pains of growing old, but at age 72 was still running the church as well as a eighteen year old, but he was still too old for war, so as a result he give up command of the church's armed forces to an underling and in addition added about 5,000 mixed troops and a little over a dozen warships to the holy city's defense. He made a grand speech to his clergy about how the Zoroastrians are heathens and Coptics are heretics, and that their partnership is an abomination in the eyes of the lord. Adding that this day forward the Zoroastrians would be the Orthodox Church's bitterest enemies and all their actions would be view as hostile! Still many in the church said the church didn't go far enough in using its resources for the war effort, and was holding back too much, that many more troops and warships should have been recruited and built. The heartbreaking news of city of Varangiapolis being destroyed by riots along with its church site didn't go over very well within the church either.
Before Grandmaster Pericles left Constantinople to defend his order fortress in Macedonia, he gave his subordinate brother Xander instructions about the holy city's defense, Xander noticed that the Grandmaster's face was very pale and asked him what was the matter? The Grandmaster replied that a Persian assassin made an attempt on his life this morning, and it was foiled by his guards, as if that wasn't enough, this afternoon the secret of Greek fire was stolen and that they only had enough in stock for a couple years, maybe five years if they ration the use of it. "How could this have happen?" exclaimed Xander, the Grandmaster grim reply was that some Farohar's agents were caught in the attempt, but before they died in interrogation, they declared that it was already gone when they arrived.
More dreadful news arrived that evening, of city of Varangiapolis being destroyed by riots along with its order site disheartened the order some more, although not as much as the news of the assassin attempt and the lost of Greek Fire. To make matters worse reports arrived that most of the church's food supplies had spoiled and there would be a food shortage for years to come.

King Barnard did some builds...
New player for Turn 40...
King Ragnar Bloodaxe governed until he died an old and bitter man, who regretted having missed the glory of battle, his wished his Heir a more exciting future filled with battle. The old king died at age 66, his body crushed to death by the collapse of part of the great hall during a coming of age ceremony for one of his sons in 693, the young prince died along with his father, and with one of his leaders named Otto Fairhair. A General Haakon Hartrada was the only leader there to survive. Rumors that it was cause by a cultic plot soon swept the royal court flamed by the fact the heir was crowned in Danzig and didn't return to the capital. For the Heir Hans Ragnarson was in Danzig on a diplomatic mission that achieved some success, when news of the King's death reached him, he crowned himself King. Another younger brother who was with him in Danzig was promoted to prince in 695 by the new King, by then more rumors were spreading that the new king didn't return home for the reason that a General Haakon Hartrada was in control of the whole army and of the capital, after recruiting another 1,000 elite heavy cavalry.
Caesar Julius Agricola II managed his empire as good as usual although he was pushing sixty, that was until he was found dead one morning by a chambermaid; he was found lying peaceful in bed with a smile on his face at about the same time there reports of a blood red sea surrounding his kingdom (no fishing fleets were out, so no damage was done). His Heir Damianus II was conveniently away on a mission to claim Lothian and garrison it, and then to preceded to Anglia to persuade it to ally with the Empire, which it did despite the fact Damianus II was more a military genius than a diplomatic one. Once he became the new Caesar he did honor his father passing by making his younger brother his heir when he turned 15, by renaming him Julius Agricola III. The deceased Caesar's last written orders were followed to the letter, as a minor investment was made to the empire's infrastructure and public works improvements were scattered throughout the lands. Peculiarly around the same time as the Caesar's passing, a Lord Lothair in command of the navy was found dead in his cabin by a cabinboy, he also was found with a smile on his mug, his second- in-command Lord Belfus quickly took command of the fleet
King Sarantino II just did builds and he acknowledges that the Arian church has significant influence in Sicily, and while that bond remains strong, the King's first allegiance is to God, not man. He will receive Coptic clerics to hear their teaching and compare their core beliefs to the scriptures in order to gauge their adherence to the true faith of our apostolic fathers. He also ordered the release of the Theban Legion Leader who was foolish to fall into his trap and consequently spent a few enjoyable years in his dungeons.

Emperor Honorius stayed at alert with the Empire's main army in Latium, while his heir Maximus ruled in his stead, and he ruled rather well and in addition his wife provided the Emperor with a pair of grandchildren. Empires argents report that their efforts to vandalize (forgive the pun) the bureaucracy offices of the Vandals were thought to have had some success. While yet another lord in Europe died in his bed with a smile on his face in Burgundy, and the Empire's northern army was rendered leaderless. Young Prince Claudius was demoted by his older brother Prince Theodosius, who with much amusement on his part told the younger sibling that he was to be commander of the southern army and that Claudius was to be his second in command due to his lack of common sense in the Sicily campaign, they together with 200 warships (100 that were newly built) and 20,000 assorted infantry (of which 5,000 were recruited to replace those lost in the tidal wave) were ordered south to continue in the Coptic Wars. On the diplomatic front Lord Rufous reported some progress in Aquitaine and Gascony,

Emperor Temukin the Orthodox Slayer, continued his bloody ways in Swabia, and again his army killed all Orthodox men, women and children and re-colonized the blood-splattered land with loyal Ulanians. A young Prince Kurga who had a poor understanding of few matters and had trouble stomaching all the killings accompanied the Emperor. The royal road from Austria to Bavaria was completed and an extension of it was continued into Swabia in order to help the flow of new colonists. The Empire's Heir Osric did rule reasonably well on his own back in the capital, and kept his wife busy propagating a house full with five kids in five years although one was stillborn, and she was left exhausted. Within the realm, salt trade increase dramatically as a few salt mines were opened in the region of Ulania and in a short time they seem to have cornered the market in the Med.
Patriarch Oscar found two sites; one in Brabant was a beautiful cathedral with stained glass windows, and other a monastery of greater learning, yet his brow was furrowed with worry, he feared that the church growing too fast and too thin. To make matters worse the church was even more a victim of its own success as its other leaders establish 10 out of 11 sites. The holy city of Iona follow the trend and continued to grow too, buts its infrastructure was improved a little to handle the influx of true believers, while the church's infrastructure sagged under its increased weight. The city's docks saw the addition of a couple new warships to deter any pirates that might be in the area. Missionaries reported back progress in Estonia and Orleans driving out a lot of the old Orthodox influences. The Celtic Church furthermore had a grand celebration during the establishment of its first site in the Kingdom of Teuton in the region of Estonia.
King Thor Iversson governed and his wife had one healthy child and then died after the second was stillborn, but he was sadden more by the lost of his favorite son Knut just days before he was to be made a prince, he perished in a riding accident. Earlier the King ordered Prince Skeld Iversson to gather troops from newly mustered forces and the Trondheim garrison and march to Halland with Lieutenant Jensef, to hook up with Lieutenant Rothgar and the Halland Ally, together they were to precede to Smaland to have it rejoin the kingdom and convert it by the sword, which they of course did with much relish. Elsewhere converting with missionaries was as much a success in Narvik, as it was a failure in Svartsen. As for improvements to the kingdom, cultivation was started in both Mordaland and Agder, along with a minor investment in its institutes of higher learning.

Chief Greystag govern his people wisely, in addition he gave his Heir Eaglewing some more responsibilities: to take command of some troops and led them to Mohawk and put them to work cultivating the region. One of his leaders called Runningwolf, who the Chief treated like a son, took the last tribe to colonize Cayuga and had its public works increased to handle the larger population. His real son the young sickly Prince Strongbow was given the only job suited for him, that to help administer to the People and deal with scrolls and scrolls of government records. The young prince ashamed of his job, his eyes were kept lowered as he made his rounds performing his duties. The Chief was troubled in the summer of 694, by news that his leader Owego, who at almost thirty was found dead in his tent without a mark on him, leaving the Wenro garrison leaderless. Rumors flew about that an invasion by Mississippi would ensue, but nothing came of it, although it kept a lot of the People's troops on their toes...
Even although he was only just reaching middle age, Chief Wild Eagle took a break from child making of the previous years and worked hard keeping his nation running properly, the region of Dakota was improved by crisscrossing it with many trails. Still the ever-present threat of a famine continued to loom over his nation's head. Accordingly work was continued on cultivating the region Ponca with the hope that this would provide a safeguard against a future food crisis. The Chief's oldest son and Heir Running Wolf along with Leader Two Trees tackled a backlog of government scrolls and provided some better administrating ideas to help the nation. The renegade priest Wilderness Voices continued to wander the region of Dakota, his voice getting louder and attracting more followers, while many of the old way North Amerind priests just shook their heads, troubled by his evocation of animal sacrifices.
Chief Bounding Wolf's days were numbered, the cough was getting worse and he was coughing up blood. He ruled as best as he could and prepared his son and heir Running Moose as much as he could and in the winter of 691 he went to meet the Great-Maker-in-the-Sky. One of his leaders Ancient Oak, a strong advocate of the old ways took one look at Running Moose's plans for the Federation's future and left to form his own nation [See Yamasee Nation section]. While the loss of a city and a couple regions stung the Federation, there were some improvements in the following years: Shawnee was cultivated, and Kaskinapo was colonized and had a few public works added as per the old chief's last instructions. Running Moose found himself so overwhelm that after a couple of years of dealing with his nations responsibilities, that he had to get some help so he promoted his bother Ten Bears to prince-hood on his fifteen birthday.
Chief Ancient Oak got a little disgusted with both the river trading aspect of the Mississippi Federation as well as the religion aspect of the white men (Pelegian) and wanted to go back to the old ways of the North Amerind religion, he took a few tribes with him and convinced a couple of regions and a city to break away and make a new start by returning to the old ways...

Chief Hatawin was nearing his sixties, at the age to start enjoying his grandchildren, but alas there were none to be found. His oldest daughter would be old enough to be a princess in a couple years, or maybe he should have her married her to that ally from Tiwa before he left. Sacrilegious thoughts entered his head as he thought how she out done his young sons over and over again, sons so young that they wouldn't be ready to be his heir or prince for another eight years, maybe she could be... But no that was unthinkable as his mind returned to running the federation.
The Royal road from Serrano to the city in Maopa was finally finished after having to cut though the mountains between the two regions, just as two new roads heading from Anasazi, one to Tiwa, the other to Hohokam were begun. In a remarkable way another journey finally ended, as old man Gutayai at age 74 at long last was finished with his diplomatic mission in Tiwa, having become a regional landmark, or more like old moss on a tree, having been there for almost twenty years. Elsewhere Leader Toyama's diplomatic journey to the city of Chaco ended abruptly as he was killed in a street riot. On a similar mission Leader Lantaya not only surrived in the city of Snaketown but he succeeded in bringing it completely into the federation.

In the Valley of Mexico the region of Culhua was colonized and elsewhere public works were improved in the regions of Totonac and Nahuati. As a pair of the empire's leaders preached the faith effectively in Tepuztec, and Huave. Another leader flush with exasperation could not get the local lords of Huastec to agree to even that the world was round.
Patriarch Fynbar ap Aran journeyed about the Valley of Mexico establishing five of six churches, his jolly good mood due to his success was spoiled by news that the city of New Glasgow had a massive fire and was burnt to the ground, worse yet was the news that the abbey there was a total loss and his bishop and good friend Allyn ap Rhys perished in the fire trying to save some woman and children. Further grim news reached him of his Archbishop Garrack ap Dubhan's death in the region of Yokuts, his preaching to the Yokutish people was cut short when one of the crowd he was preaching in the middle of, threw a spear into his back. Elsewhere missionaries were successful in bring the region of Huave into the fold.
Emperor Gareth governed with the help of his heir and namesake, who helped administer to the empire's needs. Progress continued in the empire, colonizing and cultivating the region of Colon, at the same time as young charismatic Tristan continued to have them eating out of his hand in both Lenca and Mescalero, many saying he could talk a blind man into seeing. Missionaries cultivated the faithful in both Chitimacha, and Mescalero. The only setback was that city of New Glasgow caught fire and burnt to the ground. On the home front Admiral Taranis barely into his twenties, with peach-fuzz beard stood ready to react with his fleet to any pirates, but no self-respecting pirate dared to show his face.
Emperor Juan Valdez copied his northern white men neighbors figuring that's how an empire acts, so he ruled while his namesake did the administering. A region was cultivated also, called Guayami, but it wasn't colonized, instead a new port city of "Bean Town" in was built in it on the shores of the Gulf of Venezuela. While back home the shores of his empire was covered in blood, at least it looked that way as a red tide could be seen as far as the eye could see. Luckily there were no fishing fleets out fishing so no harm was done. All over the Empire huge investments were made in warship design and siege capabilities that quickly paid off, while a small investment in the infrastructure didn't accomplish much.
Leader Americano was preaching in Guayami, but he end up as the second leader in the Americas to have a spear fatally disagree with him, his troops leaderless remained at the regional garrison without orders.
Chief Icaru and his number one son and heir ruled and administered together, his son's wife provided him with three grandkids, but sadly died during the birth of the fourth. The Chief furthermore was surprised to hear of a heresy forming in Tapayos, led by a youthful rebel leader called Morroc.
