General Information: (*= New)

Welcome to L27, I am your GM for this chaotic world of the dark ages; my name is Chet S. My Lords GM address is: Lords27gm@throneworld.com for orders and L27 stuff, and my L27 paypal address is: lords27gm@throneworld.com

TURN FEE: is $6.00 donation, and there is also a $6.00 donation for a startup fee for new players. Also I do not accept any personal checks as my bank charges me a $20 fee for any bounced checks that I deposit...(Cash, money orders & certified checks are ok.)

TURN BALANCE: Any nation that reaches a NEGATIVE BALANCE without making an arrangement with me will not be processed, and not sending orders in for three turns in a row (with or without payments and without a good reason), will force me open your country to a new player who has the time and money...

SWITCHING NATIONS: I have policy of no switching nations if your balance is in the red, until that negative balance is paid and you must also pay for one turn ahead so you're in the black.

***NEW ORDER FORM: Please use new orders form it has a Blue highlight section in the middle of it, otherwise you are using the wrong sheet and need to download a new one from the file section of this site or at the L27 home site at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Lords-27/files/T48%20L27_Excel_orders_template.xls If you do not have Microsoft Excel, there is a free version of Office called OpenOffice that will open, edit and save Excel file at: http://www.openoffice.org/

E-MAIL ADDRESS & TURN NUMBER: Make sure your e-mail address is right in your orders, that is the address the program will send your stat sheet to... and that it has the right turn number too!

ORDER NAME FORMAT: L27_T42_NationName.xls.

PROJECTS: Do not put new or old projects in the builds section of the Order form; they only go in the new or existing projects section (with ID number), and do not delete any part of the order form that you are not using, just leave the unused sections blank and do not add any page-breaks either, or write outsides the borders (your personal notes doubles the pages).

TROOP BUILDS: If your leader is in the region already or will be in that region to pick up your newly built troops, don't build troops for the garrison and then have him pick them up, just build troops for him (NOTE: he still has to go and pick them up).

***MERCENARIES: Remember that you MUST specify a city where you are hiring the Mercs. Failure to do this will result in no Mercs and the money being lost. Also, mercenaries may not be hired for more than one turn at a time. PLEASE put where you are hiring any mercenaries AND how many you are trying to hire AND how much you are willing to pay per point of troops in your builds section on the order form. PLEASE put this information in the notes section at the end of your builds. Otherwise you will not get the mercenaries and the GPs bid on them will be lost. ALSO Mercs must stay with a Merc leader that comes with them (M543) and goes in their own army section.

CITIES & FORTRESSES: For expanding cities please put the name of the city in location, not the region it is in. Also for WP for fortress always put the region in for Location and for WP for cities always put in the city name for location. Last but not least in the item column in the build section do NOT write out fully what your building please use the codes, for example: your building 10 elite infantry, do NOT write "Build 10 elite infantry", instead write 10ei and do that for all units and also put no space between 10 and ei (the lords program reads it this way.). Also please use abbreviations in the rules for Intel commands (CI for counter intelligence, etc)

CLAIMED REGIONS & CITIES: These regions and cities will be noted by a dot in your color, not a full color shading of the region.

HEIRS AND PRINCES: Unless stated otherwise in your orders, when a King's male child comes of age he is promoted to Heir (if he has none, then grandson, then any male child in royal family). Likewise when any male child comes of age he is promoted to Prince if there is an opening and I don't forget to check.

PWBs: Please let me know if PWB are for a city or a region by putting a "c" or "r" in fount of it like this: 10rPWB.

LEADER NAMES: From now on if your leader has NO name he or she gets NO action...

***LEADER (& ARMY) ACTIONS & MOVEMENT: You must state their actions and their AP cost, and their movements (all the regions traveled through) and movement AP cost, you cannot say go to a region and vanquish my enemy. You can say follow another leader's orders, but his must be spelled out!!! (Otherwise any vague orders will not be done.)

NEWSFAX: If you have the time, it would help me write the newsfax if you write a sentence or two or even a paragraph, and/or a summery on what your country and its leaders are trying to accomplish during the turn...

MAX TAX: dropped from 2.0 to 1.9 in T45, it will be 1.8 in T46, 1.7 in T47, 1.6 in T48, and 1.5 in T49 and beyond, as the world gets darker and resources become scarcer.

SHIPS: Must end the turn in a port, if not in a port they lose 10% the first turn, 20% the second turn, 30% the third turn, etc...

HC (Have Children): can only be combined with RULE and ADMINISTER in L27, otherwise it's a separate action for your leader.

FLAGS: BTW I could use some more flags as over half of you don't have one...

New National Projects

***New Megalithic Constructs for T48

Aqueduct

Base Level One
Need to be TL4+

A large monolithic construction providing water to a controlled city. The aqueduct reduces the effects of plague by providing fresh and clean water. PWB built within the city will include public fountains and baths.

Arena

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A large and impressive arena and stadium for games constructed in a controlled city. An Arena provides a small bonus against revolt in the city as the circus and spectacles entertain the urban population.

Defensive Dyke

Base Level 0.5(can only be built in Cultivated and Intensively Cultivated Regions)
Need to be TL4+

A Defensive Dyke is a poor man's Great Wall built along a designated border between two regions.

A Defensive Dyke multiplies the combat value of the defending army that is behind it by 1.25. By itself it has no defensive strength, so it must have an army or garrison behind the Defensive Dyke to be effective. Field Forts may garrison a Defensive Dyke segment. A Defensive Dyke can be built to front a Great Wall segment to enhance its effects.

Intelligence College

Base Level Two
Need to be TL5+

An Intelligence College can be constructed in a controlled city. It provides a small bonus to investments in Int and Assassin ratings.

Land Reclamation

Base Level Two
Need to be TL6+

In a limited number of coastal regions the GPv can be increased by one as land is reclaimed from the sea. The construction includes small dykes and windmills. If the dyke is destroyed (by hostile action or a great storm and sea surge) then the reclaimed land is flooded and the GPv bonus is lost, with the newsfax reporting the loss of life and devastation.

Regions where Land Reclamation can be performed include:

Museum

Base Level One
Need to be Tech Level 4+

A museum can be constructed in a controlled city. It provides a small bonus to an RF concerned with matters of art, and history.

National Library

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A national library can be constructed in a controlled city. It provides a small bonus to an RF concerned with matters of history, geography and literature. If the Cthulhu Mythos supplement is in use there is a small chance that among its volumes hide certain rare and disturbing tomes - which is not always a good thing...

National Monument

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A National Monument can be constructed in a controlled city or region. It commemorates a historical figure (intended to enhance the national identity - such as Arminius in Germany or Vercingetorix in France), a royal or military leader or to mark the site of a military victory. If the city or region is merely pacified building the monument may provoke a revolt; in friendly regions the monument reduces the chance of rebellion.

Naval College

Base Level One
Need to be TL5+

A Naval College can be constructed in a controlled port city or port fortress. A Naval College provides a small bonus to investments in the Warship QR. It also provides a small Naval bonus to any combat within the host city or region as the cadets reinforce the militia and any standard naval units.

Prison

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A prison can be constructed in a controlled city or fortress. This grim forbidding edifice can be used to imprison captured Leaders and provides a bonus against Jailbreak ops. If built within a city a prison acts as a fortress, but with only one wallpoint (no further WPs can be added).

Religious Complex

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A Religious Complex can be constructed in a controlled city or region by a nation or a primacy. This complex of shrines, statues, audience halls and offices provides a small bonus to the Religious Strength of the nation. If built in a region not of the national religion it may provoke a revolt. If there is no revolt then there will be a shift towards the national religion. (More than one Religious Complex may be built thereby increasing its level.)

Royal Folly

Base Level variable
Need to be TL3+

If the King is struck by madness they may embark on the construction of some large and useless edifice, redirecting resources from other monolithic constructions to this pet project. Examples include massive towers, landscaped hills (or mountains), laying out all the fields in a cultivated region to an exact geometric grid and rebuilding a city so that all the streets are aligned according to a particular philosophy (such as feng shui).

Royal Palace

Base Level variable
Need to be TL3+

A Royal Palace can be constructed in a controlled city. This complex of audience halls and offices provides a small bonus to the King's Admin rating when he is in residence and must be built in the national capital. The Level can vary from 1.0 to a truly stupendous edifice, enhancing the prestige of the nation.

Royal Park

Base Level One
Need to be TL3+

A Royal Park can be constructed in a controlled region. It may include ornamental gardens and follies or hunting lodges and preserves.

Royal Tomb

Base Level variable
Need to be TL3+

A Royal Tomb can be constructed in a controlled city or region. The Level can vary from 0.5 to a truly stupendous edifice, enhancing the prestige of the nation - and offering a site for future tomb robbers and archaeologists.

Royal Zoo

Base Level One
Need to be TL4+

A zoo can be constructed in a controlled city. The menagerie holds beasts and birds from foreign lands.

Staff College

Base Level Two
Need to be TL5+

A Staff College can be constructed in a controlled city or fortress. A Staff College provides a small bonus to investments in Infantry, Cavalry and Siege QRs. It also provides a small Combat bonus to any combat within the host city or region as the cadets reinforce the militia and any standard army units.

QUOTE FOR THE TURN

The hero is the one who kindles a great light in the world,
Who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by.
The saint is the man who walks through the dark paths of the world,
Himself a light.

Empire of the Sun (Nippon) (was Takeda Shogunate)

Shinto | Seafaring | Tech 4
Shogun Okajuurou died in 733, Heir Tatshushi proclaimed himself God-Emperor!
Diplomacy: Liao-Tung [C], Bao Ding [-C], Lu'An [-C]
Imperialism: Finished intense cultivation in Saga , built a scattering of field forts on the Island of Japan, trained 14,000 troops, and rebuilt port city of Ueshiba with a city fortress, along with port fotress in Okinawa.

Sadly Shogun Okajuurou died in a Buddhist prison cell alone with just rats for company and none but the rats to mourn his loss... Meanwhile upon news of the Emperor's death, young Heir Tatshushi in a fit of madness or divine inspiration proclaimed himself a God-Emperor and installed an imperial government! He also stated hat he was a descendant of the Sun Goddess Amaterasu, and that his new Empire would be called "The Empire of the Sun"! The new Emperor married a local noblewoman and started the Imperial family and imperial rule.

Also mercs were hired for the war effort and there was a mass conscription throughout the Empire as the war turned bloody with the blood of the Chinese running deep.

The Japan-China War [727- ?]

The war indeed took a bloody turn as the Japanese proved to be more savage and brutal then their Samurai. The Japanese slaughtered the innocents of five regions (with help from the mercs), their genocide spared nobody, Chinese men, woman, and child put to the sword by the tens of thousands, their bodies piled high and burnt as offerings to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu.

Meanwhile back in Yen the Samurai advanced back into Hopei and occupied a couple of hundred newly built field forts and readied their defenses. In less than a year the Chinese Force of Hu and Honan troops attacked to liberate Hopei, they found themselves out numbered two to one and they were smashed against the Samurai's defenses there. The Chinese withdrawed in complete disarray, the total dead were 10,000 Samurai and 80 field forts destroyed and the Chinese left behind 40,000 dead.

Elsewhere the Buddhist fleet went looking for the Japanese fleet and ran into their main fleet in the Tsushima strait, to their regret, they were outnumbered about 150 ships to about 200 Japanese ships and to make matters worse the Japanese had elite ships and an elite leader and promptly sent the Buddhist fleet home in defeat. Two months later the Hu Empire invasion fleet met up with the same Japanese fleet in the same place and suffered the same fate, but both sides lost a leader and suffered heavy losses and both had to withdraw in disorder after failing to rally their fleets, leaving the Tsushima strait blood red and scattered with debris.

Kannagara No Michi

Shinto | Seafaring | Tech 4
Grandmaster Manu
Diplomacy: Hopei [-C], Houma [-UN], Koguryo [OH], Ashan [N/E], city of Bashi [-UN], city of Pingtung [-UN]
Imperialism: Built a ton of fieldforts, in three regions.

Grandmaster Manu oversaw the defense of Hopei, and the building of a couple of hundred field forts scattered across the countryside. They were more than ready for the Chinese forces. Afterwards they had plans to attack to the South, but there were no bodies of the Black Dragon among their fallen foes. So the Grandmaster had them wait and wait for a Black Dragon attack that never came... Also the Hu Empire Emperor was captured, but soon died of questioning and poor health at the hands of the Samurai Inquisitors. The Grandmaster also escaped a similar fate with the help of his agents of the Kannagara Intel Ops (KIO) who thwarted a Buddhist kidnapping attempt.

Diplomacy: Shentang [N/E], Ningsia [N/E], Houma [F], city of Bao'Ding [-UN, Sacked], Liao-Tung [-UN], Hsuing Nu [-UN], city of Ta-Tung [-UN, sacked],
Imperialism: Continued the change from clan to Feudal society, and the change from Agrarian to open culture, built PWB for a region , and trained another 10,000 HC.

Emperor Tuoba Dao in a fit of stark raving madness led the Black Dragon army to Ordos with his new heir Tuoba An Kuo. Thus the Black Dragons failed to meet up with the rest of the Chinese force. The Emperor waited almost two years for the return of the horde, but all he caught was a fever and he died. His Heir led the army back home to defend the homeland and was crowned Emperor, he then promoted two of his brothers to Prince.

The Hu Empire

Theravada Buddhist | Civilized | Tech 4
Hu Dong, King of the Hu, Son of Heaven, Protector of the Enlightened, Emperor of the Middle Kingdom, Lord of Golden Dragon Father of the Han died in 733, heir Hu Xi succeeded him
Diplomacy: Fujian [N/E],
Imperialism: Built royal road from Taiping to Chekiang, built 200 new warships of assorted sizes, trained 5,600 troops, expanded city, and built walls for 2 cities.

Emperor Hu Dong continued the war effort, but with some foresight he sent his heir home to take command of the defenses and protect the homeland. Unfortunately the war effort started off on the wrong foot when the Black Dragon contingent failed to show up, although the Emperor was able to hook up with the Honan contingent. Believing the Black Dragons were just delayed they started liberating BD lands from the Kannagara and hunting down Japanese troops. They started off successfully enough by liberating Houma, but ran into a large Samurai army and tons of Samurai field forts in Hopei.  In that battle The Emperor was captured and soon died of torture and poor health at the hands of the mighty Mighty MIGHTY Samurai.

Meanwhile the Heir reach home and took command of the forces there and soon word reached him of the Japanese raiding the coastline, but by the time he responded and arrived to drive them off, more than a couple of regions were damaged by the raids. Furthermore more regions were damaged by the flooding of the Yangtze River.

Upon his coronation Heir Hu Xi vowed revenge for his father's death and that his terrible swift sword will open the bellies of those Samurai dogs. Meanwhile the Empire was suffering from thin government as it was so large that it needed somebody to rule or administer to its needs (everybody was off fighting in the war or on diplomatic missions), and the were reports of an minor outbreak of Lassen Fever in the capital.

The Buddhist Temple

Buddhist | Civilized | Tech 4
Primate Mu
Diplomacy: Bao Ding [-UN], Hsuing Nu [-UN], Laio-Tung [-UN]
Imperialism: Built 150 warships of various sizes and trained 2,000 light infantry as marines to man them.

Primate Mu was incensed at the loss of Buddhist sites, especially the cathedral in Bao Ding were he was trained as a boy; unforgivably it was looted and burned to the ground by the Japanese. Meanwhile the Buddhist leaders and missionaries were quite successful in converting some Japanese regions, but some of their good work was countered by some Japanese missionaries. More happenings on the religious front, as a cruel savant named Tri Kal arrived saying that to embrace the Buddha you needed to return to the old ways...

On the war front an Buddhist fleet went searching for Kannagara or Takeda targets and ran smack into the main Japanese fleet which was more than they bargained for. One of the Buddhist leaders was killed and the remains of the fleet high tailed it back home.

The Sirivijayan Empire

Hinduism | Seafaring | Tech 4
Emperor Temasek
Diplomacy:
Imperialism: Built new port city of Mariamman in Singapore Island, and new port city of Muntok on Bangka Island, expanded 6 cities, built field forts in 2 regions, built 160 heavy transports, and built PWB for 6 cities, 1 region.

The Emperor Temasek ruled, again with the help of his brother Prince Parameshwara but the Prince died of a snake bite when he was found that his chamber was full of poisonous snakes. The Empire continued its build up of the navy with 160 heavy transports which gave birth to rumors that they were going to invade somebody. Speaking of births the royal nursery heard babies' cries for the first time in a decade as four offspring were born, but the one with two heads died soon after birth.

The Empire's Population continued to explode at an alarming rate and the nation traded rutters for agro with Rajput and Asamakara. With the Asamakara Civil war's destruction, Srivijayan became second to none in economical power...

The Empire of Champa

Hinduism | Civilized | Tech 4
Emperor Tri Jayavarman II
Diplomacy: Korat [N/E]
Imperialism:Colonized Korat, Sagaing, Nampung, cultivated Korat, and expanded 4 cities, built PWB for 2 regions and a city, and 25 warships, trained another 5,000 HEC, and built field forts for 4 regions.

Emperor Tri Jayaavarman II IMAed and again was prepared to react to any outside threats (along with his Heir's army). To get the Heir's mind off the loss of his beautiful Asamakaran wife, he was given more and more duties and soon he was running the empire on his own (but he ruled poorly and only succeeded with the help of a leader administering), as the nation continued its massive economical buildup.

Elsewhere Tri Subadar (36 year old son of Jayavarman II) was sent along with the tithes to Kali to join his brothers (Tri Nampong and Tri Hmong) in service to the Temple of Kali. As a gift (or a purchase price for a position in the hierarchy?) he provided some rutters.

Imperialism: Lost tech level, BLs, and quite a bit of Infrastrucure...

Emperor Eknath had to deal with the second Asamakara civil war, see below:

Second Asamakara Civil War (732-735):

In 732 the retired Emperor Ilore returned to the court in Banavasi. In tow was a man of Japanese descent who wore a cloth band over his eyes. Ilore brought the man before his grandson, the current Emperor of Asamakara, Eknath. The man was introduced to Eknath as Kisho Aoki, a seer, and with Ilore's urgings, performed a reading for the Asamakaran ruler.

The court quieted as Aoki slipped into a trance, muttering words in both Hindi and Japanese. After a few moments, Aoki reached up to remove the cloth from his face, revealing a pair of empty eye-sockets. Many in the court gasped at the grisly sight, but quieted again as the seer began speaking:

Cold troubled waters
Swirling with dark corruption
An Emperor's soul.

Strings coated in gold
Pull strongly toward madness
From hidden shadows.

With prayer and faith
The grandsire must beckon
The deep cleansing fire.

Almost immediately, Ilore leveled a charge against Eknath. "I accuse the Emperor of being a pawn to enemy agents and orchestrating the death of his own father to assume the throne!" Chaos erupted. Ilore still had much power in the court, having served as Emperor for over 50 years. Many were also still loyal to the current Emperor, including the majority of the armed forces in the capital. Unbeknownst to Ilore, Eknath had assigned some of the national assassins to suppress any remnants of imperialistic desire the old Emperor might have. With deadly precision, Ilore and his cadre of personal guards were crushed.

In the east, Princes Sanat and Parmesh sat in command of the large military force responsible for patrolling against any pirates. When news reached them of the scandal at court, they immediately set sail back for the capital to do battle against their corrupted brother.

Asamakara descended quickly into civil war. Knowing of the capital's defenses, Sanat and Parmesh landed on the opposite side of the subcontinent. They quickly gathered local support against Eknath, picking up the many garrisons strewn across the countryside.

By the time they reached Banavasi in the West, they commanded just as many troops that Eknath held in the capital (though more cavalry to Eknath's Infantry and Siege Engineers). Luckily for the Princes, Sanat was a military genius, and despite the unfavorable types of troops for a siege, managed to break through the walls of the city in less than year. The battle then spilled to the streets of the city itself, much of it being destroyed as a large fire broke out during the combat.

For three more months both sides went back and forth in battle. Assassins struck at the Princes, but were countered by their guards. Finally, the Princes marched on the fortified palace of Eknath. Sensing defeat, Eknath was determined to take as much of the country down with him. He ordered the deaths of many ministers, having the heads of bureaucrats, agents and priests mounted atop the fortress spires. This threw Sanat into a rage. He ordered the Palace to be set ablaze, and all the entrances blocked. It burned for three nights, the screams of those still loyal to Eknath heard throughout it all...

Once the smoldering stopped, Sanat declared an end to Eknath's line, and pronounced himself Emperor of a Second Asamakaran Dynasty. The damage to the country was considerable, however, and lacking essential infrastructure and governmental support; it shrunk to a much smaller size and scope.

Emperor Versha
Diplomacy: city of Lhasa [NT] (shared with Rajput), city of Bihar [-1YFC], Maghada [A],
Imperialism: Expanded 2 cities, built PWBs for a region, also built walls higher for two fortress, and 60 heavy warships, and trained only 2,000 HI.

Sadly Old Emperor Versha outlived his son and heir Chandra (whose heart failed him, while ruling and propagating). The Emperor held a funeral in his son's honor at the temple of Kali in the capital. So it was on this grim note that he celebrated his seventieth birthday in 734. He hoped he could hang on until one of his grandsons came of age to become his heir as he coughed blood into a napkin.

Emperor Admohi retired in 730, Birju new Emperor.
Diplomacy: City of Melindara [EA], Cahandela [F], Sikkum [N/E],
Imperialism: Expanded 4 cities, built PWBs for 6 regions, built new city of Raichur in Jihjhoti, and 4 new fortresses, and trained 3,000 heavy elite cavalry.

Emperor Admohi set forth a great expansion of his Empire as he ruled and sired some more heirs. He was apprehensive about the civil war to his South; worried that it might spread like a cancer to his Empire.  Because of that he stayed ready with his army to react to any trouble. A trade with Sirivijaya consisted of some Agro sent in exchange for some rutters. Meanwhile in what many of the royal court viewed as an act of war, Palas diplomats convinced the city of Lhasa to also pay some homage to them.

But his heart failed him when an Asian worker planted a dagger in it screaming "Die Zoroastrian pig!". The worker then fled to the top of the bell tower and leaped to his death. Elsewhere Archbishop Jakan was found dead in his locked cambers in the city of Shar his head twisted around so much that he was looking backwards (with a look of terror on his face). While within the Persian capital the copy of Greekfire was given in an elaborate ceremony to the Persian Emperor.

ShahanShah Kavadh II again ruled a little bit on the poor side, but it was offset by his Heir's administering so the empire didn't suffer from thin government this time. Meanwhile Prince Khosru who was an average diplomat, messed up everywhere he went, with one mishap after another, he just failed in Pamphlyia, but while in Psidia and Galatia he was luckily to escape with his life.

Diplomacy: Ulania [OH], Kuldja [OO], city of Shar [N/E], city of Wudan Gul [N/E],
Imperialism: Expanded 3 cites, started cultivation in Slovenia.

Grandmaster Sanve passed away and his replacement Fehntin issued a lot of orders: cities expanded, a region cultivated, a small elite fleet was built to transport a leader and defend the coastline from raiders (even a royal road was attempted, but was already built by somebody else). He sent funds to Ulania, Aden and the usual payment to Mother Church.

Sultan Gaffar died 734, Ibrahim succeeded him
Diplomacy: Sakalava [F], Qatar [T], Asir [AW],
Imperialism: Colonized Salalava , only built 92 warships and light warships, and PWBs for a region.

Sultan Gaffar kept command of his army under his tight control ready to defend his Sultanate while his heir ruled quite well and impressed the old Sultan. The Sultan again vowed that no sea creature would interfere with his Sultanate as he ordered his fleet strengthened yet again. He sent the Aden Fleet down south again with a pair of leaders (even joined up with a local ally to help) with orders to locate the great white whale, I mean sea serpent. But ill luck followed them again and they couldn't find the damn creature... The Sultan raged "That my youngest daughter had a better chance to find the sea serpent with such fools I have for leaders, and..." but suddenly he dropped dead when his heart failed him. His heir Ibrahim succeeded him without any trouble except for the region of Asir revolted upon receiving the news of his succession.

The Egyptian Empire

Emperor Merakh
Diplomacy: City of Agoruvix [-UN, Sacked], city of Zoskales [T], city of Damascus [P], Algeria [F],
Imperialism: Colonized Algeria, started cultivation in Kabilya, built PWB for 4 regions, and trained 8,000 xi, also demobilized 16,000 more troops.

As Emperor Merakh remained ready to defend his vast empire, he was happy to announce the marriage of Princess Lillith to Emperor Theodosius of the WRE. But the marriage came close to not going as planned when the Egyptian fleet (along with the Theban and Axum fleets) were ambushed by the Pirates of the Med and the Egyptian fleet was driven back home when it lost both of its commanders. Luckily the Princess was fished out of the sea by the Axums and made it to the WRE with only minor injuries. Closer to home the Emperor oversaw a return to peace time operations with as many as 16,000 troops in Kabilya demobilized for colonization, and cultivation there. But unfortunately peace was snatched from them as they were dragged back into war, into the Campaign against the Pirates after their fleet was attacked and their great city of Agoruvix was sacked by the Pirates.

See [The Campaign against the Pirates, 726-?] for details...

The Order of the Theban Legion

Coptic Christian | Civilized | Tech 5
Master Octavious
Diplomacy: City of Agoruvix [-UN],
Imperialism: Raised 13,000 more XI in Egypt, along with building 6HTs, and 96 warships of various sizes.

Theban Master Octavious ordered that the fleet's losses be rebuilt, and a small fleet (joined with Axum and Egypt fleets) was sent to replenish their fleet at the city of Catanzaro, but it was intercepted by the Pirates and about half of it sunk.  The pirates also retaliated by going out of their way to destroy the Order's site in the city of Agoruvix when they sacked the city.

[The Campaign against the Pirates, 726-?]:

The Thebans' two fleets, the battle-fleet of warships and a transport-fleet of transports loaded with troops waited at the city of Catanzaro for reinforcements.  The reinforcements, a huge unwieldy fleet (of Axum, Egyptian, and Thebans ships) made up of over a thousand ships were ambushed by a Pirate fleet of about half its size, although they were evenly matched in leadership, The pirates had just as many leaders and only half as many ships, however the pirates knew the waters like the back of their hand. Unfortunately the reinforcement fleet was also not expecting any trouble so was caught with its pants down and lost 2 ships for every Pirate ship sunk, worse yet at the end of the first round of battle the Egyptians lost both of their leaders (one killed, the other captured by the Pirates) and their ships withdrew from the battle in disorder for home, like dogs with their tails between their legs. The second round went even worse for the reinforcement fleet, their morale broken, their remaining fleets disorganized, they were routed by the Pirates and lost 20 ships for every Pirate ship sunk, the ocean ran red with their blood. When the broken reinforcement fleet arrived in Catanzaro with the dreadful news and without the Egyptians, the Thebans didn't know what to do and remained in port.

Lord Capt Red Markusum sneakily took his heavy transports with some troops and sacked the city of Agoruvix, and with the point of his sword, he looted and burned the Theban Order's site and the Coptic Church site there as well. He said "Yo, ho ho, that teach those landlubbers to mess with the greatest pirate the Med has ever seen, we be no lily-livered pushovers like the Vandals. Arrrrr!". He also gave this fleet of warships to his heir Capt Wily Marksum (who was a great battle commander, even better than the Lord Captain), who with four other leaders were ordered by any means possible to make the hunted become the hunters, and show them that we own these waters.

The Emperor Djibuti died of a strange plague that wreaked havoc on the capital, however not before he promoted his son Djibuti II (age 15) to become his Heir with his dying breath. Djibuti II ascension to Emperor was not with out strife as his uncle Prince Bukodi who was in the region of Nupe and its city refused to acknowledge the new Emperor. The Prince revolted claiming he was more worthy and that Djibuti II was a bastard child not of royal blood. Meanwhile the rest of the Empire's leaders ignored the Prince's claims and continued on with their searches under rocks, in nooks and crannies for any SEs, but again they came up empty-handed. The new Emperor for the moment did nothing about his Uncle. But he did promote his younger brother to Prince to replace the Uncle, but found him to be of no help.

Emperor Verhanu in person oversaw the search of the capital even although he was well into his seventies; the only thing he found was a strange looking blue scarab. He also ordered Prince Kurmuk (in the late Prince Zula's place) to command a joint Axum-Egyptian-Thebean-WRE naval force to crush the Pirate scourge. Elsewhere, there was much diplomacy and missionary work, plus some fort building for greater security. Tragically the Emperor's second wife was found raped and dead with a Kali dagger in her heart.

Emperor Vivek died in 725, Vijay replaced him.
Diplomacy: Mukura [P], city of Arami [F],
Imperialism: A new port city was built, trained some troops for allies, and 3,200 for self, and walls for a city.

While Emperor Vivek resumed his Kingly duties, he also watched over the largest growth in the royal university since the "Great Migration'. After the disturbances of a few years ago, times appeared tranquil, let sleeping gods lie. The Emperor noted that it has been a generation since the last great slave expedition. So Prince Mehta was given a substantial command with orders to push the southern border. The Prince found the plants strange there, but the land appeared fertile. A new port was built, named Makandi, and expectations are high that this will extend the range of the trade fleets. The Hindu Afriqans had heard from the Zimbabweans of a people living to their south, so a shipload of Hindu texts and gold were sent to persuade them of Hindu intentions. Prince Sanjay was given command of the boats, but never lowered himself to actually talking with such barbarians. He was content to let the gold speak for itself...

Emperor Caesar Octavious, defender of New Rome, light of the West, guardian of civilization
Diplomacy: Connaught [-UN]
Imperialism: Colonized Lothian, built port city of Edinburgh in Lothian, expanded 7 cities, built PWB for 4 cities and region.

Due to a lack of activity of the years prior, Emperor Caesar Octavious had a good stockpile of gold and manpower that he put to good use. The NRE had never seen such a frenzy of construction, from one end of the Empire to the other, consequently the Empire grew so much that it suffered from thin government. Although the Emperor ruled and finally took the time to get married and have some children (4 kids). For some strange reason that might have repercussions later, he could not wait for them to come of age; therefore he made his half brother Aegius his Heir. He also tried to marry Princess Juli to one of his leaders, but the fool died before it could happen, the leader was lost at sea with all his ships and men (it's a good idea to send two leaders with ships so if one dies you don't lose some of your fleet.), although it was surprising that none at all make it back to port. Meanwhile the Empire became the most technological advance country in the Northlands.

Elsewhere colonization failed in Kekchi for some strange reason, it was reported by many of the colonists that they were too fearful to stay in a land covered in ash and brimstone that smelled like death warmed over...

Within the Empire's cities many of the people began demanding self representation, blaming the plague on the Emperor. When the Emperor refused, three cities revolted...
