Happy New Year!
A lot happened this
turn. One player was virtually
annihilated. Part I of the Bohemian
should be posted separately. Only those
close to the action know what happened this turn.
We still have players who
do not seem to know the rules, and show an unwilling attitude towards learning
them.
Read the rules. Please.
I’ve said this before, and I’m a bit tired of it. Most of you listen, but there are some who
are trying my patience with this game. I’ve been having to spend as much as 2-3
hours trying to process one player’s turn - no more. If it were just one thing, it wouldn’t be so
bad. Let me give you some examples:
D Diplomat Francis -
Head of Embassy in Region (Kingdom of Region)
- Learn size of Kingdom
There are at least 3 players (just this turn) trying to get diplomats
who are in embassies to do something.
The rules clearly (admittedly after some revision by this GM) show that
diplomats in an embassy are considered to be inactive - they have their hands
full running an embassy, any orders to them will confuse them, sometimes
causing them to shut down an embassy in efforts to accomplish what their leader
(the player) wants them to do. Any info
(via an embassy) gained will automatically be sent to the player. In the example above (the name of the region
was changed to protect the guilty), I had to calculate the percentage that
diplomat would close down the embassy, and try to attempt a spying mission.
Fully realizing of course that a diplomat is not allowed by the rules to
spy. Rule 6.1.13 covers all allowable
diplomat actions.
E1 DP+15
or
E Explorer Job - Region
- get troops
Only two players guilty of this (this turn). Explorers are not
diplomats. Nor are they regular leaders. They purposely try to avoid contact
with people as a rule. Rule 6.1.14 covers all allowable explorer actions. The explorer in the above example got
confused, and tried to command troops. He got laughed at, and then took an
extended vacation (he may desert).
There were at least two players this turn and two different players
last turn who tried to move troops out of a region of an economic ally.
The point is, when in
doubt, read the rules. Too many
players just doing whatever (and whatever may work in other campaigns, but not
here). If you don’t understand the
rules, then ask. I will try to clarify.
If there are too many different things wrong in one players turn, then
the turn will be left unprocessed.

I still need to know from all players which type of word
files they can send their turns in on, so if possible we can at some later date
move this game to being totally on-line.
Currently my system can handle microsoft works (not word), rtf and pdf
files. Any other file type gets to me
in such a disassociated condition as to be totally unusable. I have received files as long as 700 pages,
all electronic gibberish. I’ve asked
for this before, but I guess only 4 players (out of 20+) read this letter.
The turn is due as
always, the last day of the month, in this case 31 January. CYA!
