Then the word came of these almost magical horsemen that could destroy everything in their path, it was almost to much to beleive. He had looked at his own cavalry and they certainly didn't frighten him. At least he knew horses couldn't swim to Sirivjaya.

"Message from the Gupta my lord" the King was shaken from his thoughts.

GOLDEN EMPIRE OF THE  DRAGON-Buddhist-Civilized, Tech Lvl 4

Emperor Hu Yao

Diplomacy:  none

Emperor Hu Yao, at the urging of the Primate in Pienching, takes drastic action. He orders his men to begin looting and burning the rival Primates, the Therevada, holy sites. This was very unwise. The Therevada holy city was in the Golden Dragon's capital of Tii'Dawn. The Therevada had a rather substantial influence in his lands as well. So it was that when the Therevadan monks were forced to flee and the flames of the Holy Site were seen across Tii'Dawn's sky, the die was cast. Tan Ri set forth the word, the Golden Dragon nation was under interdict, all true buddhist were to throw off the Yoke of Dragon rule if they wished to remain in the good grace of the Church.

He and his monks fled to the city of Chang'ling in Hupei. There they met up with Prince Hu Syang, the Emperor's younger brother. Hu Syang spoke of his devotion and his elder brother's obvious insanity. Tan Ri annointed Hu Syang as the true Emperor of the Golden Dragon.

Most of the Empire, fearing for its spiritual welfare, revolted and sided with the new Emperor who had the Therevada Primates blessing. A remnant remained loyal to the Heretic Emperor Hu Yao.

With the destruction of the Therevada Holy city, and some sites in Szcechwan, Bad Karma fills the land.

[GM's note: This has pushed the Schism to a new level, all buddhist players must make a choice next turn as to which Primate they follow. The choice will not be easy. There is a very high chance that now that blood has been spilled in an attempt to resolve this that the bad blood may result in the split of Buddhism into two seperate religions]

Not only have you destroyed the Northern empire of the Dragon but systematically made the Buddhist religion a laughingstock  for the whole world to see.

To the leaders of Toba Wei.

I understand there has been trouble between you and the Northern Empire of the Dragon.

But never once did you come and ask us to moderate this dispute and then to defeat him the way you did was horrible. Know this, You will be watched.

To the Hsuing’Nu.

THE ORDER OF THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE-Buddhist-Civilized, Tech Lvl 4

Seng Hu

Diplomacy: none

An Open Letter to Buddhists Leaders and the Faithful –

I, Chen Bui, Grand Master of the Shaolin Order am appalled at the open perfidy of my fellow Buddhists.  The black handed betrayal of the Northern Dragon was an infamous act.  This treacherous betrayal by the Southern Dragon, the Toba Wei and the Hsiung’Nu will be the cause of strife and has planted the seeds of distrust amongst us for many, many years to come.   It will take many years and many acts to win back the trust and favor of the Shaolin.  At this time the only trust that we have resides with our Holy Primate in Pienching.

We, the Shaolin, are an Order based on Honor and we feel this honor has been trod upon with a bloody foot.  We have been trained at war in the Martial School of the 4 Beasts to the highest degree.  My followers seek to use this training to avenge the murder of so many of our comrades.   Comrades who we prayed, trained, ate and worked with.  I am hard pressed to not answer their anguished calls for vengeance.  My heart is with them.

Yet, the Shaolin are also trained in logic and reflective thought.  While our trained hands seek redemption, our trained heads and hearts tell us otherwise.  We must follow the teachings of our Master Buddha.

Buddhists, awake!  The challenge is not here amongst ourselves, do you not know this?  Have you not heard the clarion call in the South?  We divide ourselves and weaken ourselves with these petty, simple minded betrayals.   In the future, when we are all needed, we will be too busy watching our backs to answer the clarion’s call.

Emperor Hu Xuang, of all the villains in the drama, we are most disillusioned by your acts.  The Northern Dragon was the first sponsor of my Order.  Our Honor will forever be tainted because we do not take our rightful revenge in the memory of the Northern Dragon, our benevolent hosts since the inception of the Order.  It is only for the reasons that I have already stated that we do not seek our honor.  You will have a long way to go, a very long way, to regain our trust and support.  We believe that you have placed yourself above the calling of Buddha.

King Wei Sin and Khan Liao Chien, the Shaolin are also dismayed by your acts, but our understanding of them is much better than with the Southern Dragon.  We know that their has been strife in the North for many years between the Northern Dragon, the Toba Wei, the Hsuing’Nu and the Koreans.   Your treachery while deplorable at least was not a knife in the back by a close friend.  We are open to discussions with you, but like the Southern Dragon any trust will need to be earned.

I, Chen Bui, Grand Master of the Shaolin speak to you on behalf of my Order and those that would understand and follow the true path of our master Buddha.

In southeast asia things went poorly. The Champa were on the march and when they enslaved Siam and Khemer the orders holdings there were lost. The riots in Surin also resulted in the undefended order's lands being lost.

Chaos in China, and strife in SE Asia, bad news all around. The death of Grandmaster Chin Bui didn't add to the happy times.
