KOREA

King Ura

Diplomacy none

King Ura had been forced back by the Liao Yeng for years and now he had rebuilt his armies and was determined to strike back...

ANSHAN COUNTER ATTACK
Raising over 10,000 new Cavalry and infantry, the Koreans marched into Anshan intent on revenge.

Waiting in Anshan was Prince Liao Ti in command of the Liao-Yeng forces. His younger brother Liao Wu was with him as well. The Liao Yeng forces were awaiting reinforcements delivered by their older brother, the King. The Liao were planning on invading the Korean homeland of Koguryo and ending this war once and for all.

Prince Liao Ti had prepared incase the Koreans might attack into Anshan but he really didn’t think they had the strength left to do so. So he was somewhat suprised when his scouts reported a column of 16,000 Korean warriors moving into Anshan. Sure the Koreans had mustered out inexperienced troops he moved his army of 11,000 to confront the invading Koreans. Forming up on a group of hills over looking the Koreans, Lioa Ti was shocked to see that over half the Korean army was Cavalry (over 3,000 of it heavy)

King Ura put his Cavalry on his flanks and his lighter equipped infantry in the center. With a cry of “KILL THEM!” the Koreans surge forward King Ura leads the Heavy Cavalry on the left flank while his brother, and heir, Prince Han leads the rest of the cavalry on the right flank.

Prince Liao Ti stands ready to meet the Charge of the Korean Heavy Cavalry, while on the other end of the line Prince Liao Wu commands.

The shock of the thundering Horse is deafening as it smashes into the Liao Yeng line. Lances pierce men and sabers slash down upon the raised shields of the Liao Infantry. The weight of the charge opens a gap in the left flank of the Liao line and the heavy Cavalry of King Ura exploits it. Prince Liao Ti leads the small Liao Cavalry force in a counter charge, hoping to seal the breakthrough.  The two cavalry groups batter each other as men die screaming, some falling and off their mounts to be trampled to death in the wild melee. In the midst of the melee King Ura and Prince Liao Ti meet in combat and their sabers slash back and forth in a desperate duel. Prince Liao Ti almost hits the king as his saber slashes and batters the Kings shield, shattering it asunder. But a counter thrust by the King catches Prince Liao Ti under the chin and blood gushes in a great river down the front of the Princes’ armor. Falling back in his saddle his head tilts back as his eyes roll up in his head and he gurgles his death throes as he falls back off his horse. The Liao flank collapses, demoralized. This begins a general retreat that quickly becomes a rout as the Korean Cavalry viscously pursues.

Prince Liao Wu desperately tries to fight a rear guard action with what cavalry he can rally. But a lance thrust through his mid section too strikes him down. Wounded and bleeding heavily he is captured as he watches his men massacred. Only a few thousand at most escaping. The prince dies a few short days later from his wounds.

Following up the liberation of Anshan the Korean army marches into Bandao to meet the relief army of King Liao Xi of the Liao Yeng.

King Liao Xi saw the straggling survivors of his armies under his brothers command streaming into the region. No sign of the Princes’ though. The Korean Army in hot pursuit came right after them. The Koreans smashed into this newest Liao Yeng army. A wild melee ensued, neither side able to form an effective fighting line, the battle resembled a skirmish on a grand scale more than a set piece battle. The Liao army was mostly siege engineers and light infantry that was supposed to be ear marked for garrison duty. Fortunately for the Lioa the Koreans were somewhat disorganized by their pursuit and previous battle. Even so the Liao were getting the worse of it when luck showed upon them. A group of siege engineers had spotted King Ura and fired a volley of arrows and ballista bolts into the Kings cavalry group. Many of them fell, including the King. He was hit in the face by an arrow and in the shoulder. The Koreans were demoralized, thinking their brave King slain and pulled back. The Liao took the opportunity to limp back into Liao Tung.

King Ura badly wounded lives, having some lovely scars to show his wife. The Koreans rest in Bandao, grateful their king lives and happy to have liberated Anshan and then pacified Bandao while bloodying two Liao armies.

Rumblings began immediately however Bosnia, Ludgorie, Pontus, Carhae, and Psidia immediately revolted.

In Constantinople the 10,000 man army that had been commanded by Emperor Anistasios swore allegiance to Ioustinos. If the Romans in Constantinople cannot see the truth, then they are blind beyond hope. We call for the peoples of Egypt, mansura, syria, palmyra, Jordan and all other lands that would be free to worship as they will to follow us, let us take to gospel of Peace to the peoples of Africa without having to worry about the Blinded eyes of those in Constantinople.
