Emperor Norisus died and there was a rush to claim the throne. Abubakar, the rightful heir, managed to claim the loyalty of most of the cavalry units, enabling him to chase away disloyal leaders, including two of his brothers, from the capital.  Unfortunately, the Vice Admiral Nobulus managed to reclaim control of the navy, and set sail once realizing that the throne was beyond reach.  Several regions and cities also declared their independence.
