Akira stayed home to rule his empire and concentrate on economic development. Edo continued to expand, as did Heian, which also received a much needed sewer system. Two fortresses were also build, one in Yamato, and one on the coast of Aichi. Unfortunately, enormous wildfires afflicted the region of Nigata, casting a vast pall of smoke over the land, destroying some the public works in the region.
Kanu remained in Truk, and secured a full alliance with the tribal leader there. Hanolgoro and Furnaku continued to explore the seas, while Hirogoro went to Akita on a diplomatic mission and Nokku continued to patrol the Tsushima Stright. During these years, missionaries spent time on the mainland, just north of Korea, as well as on the Marianas islands, converting much of those populations to the Shinto faith.
During this time, Nareshi tended to the Shogun, who was growing weak, and spent most of his time studying the martial arts. Nareshi was a very capable swordsman and tactician, but cared little for the mundane duties of ruling, despite awaiting the moment that he would become Shogun upon Akira’s death. In the year 650, Akira finally succumbed to his old age, and Nareshi claimed the title of Shogunate. However, because he spent most of his time perfecting his skills as a Samurai, he neglected the friendships and family relationships that his father cultivated.
This would cause much strife during this time of transition. Nareshi’s cousin, Kanu, and two of his younger brothers, Hanolgoro and Akio, as well as all three Lieutenants and the new ally in Truk, all decided that they would not support the new Shogun. Hanolgoro, Furanku and Hirogoro each moved to the capital just days apart, and attempted to seize control of the land forces, but Nareshi bested them all and maintained the loyalty of the troops in the capital. However, Hanolgoro still controlled most of the navy and elite sailors that were skilled in land combat. Hanolgoro’s troops went for the capital catching Nareshi slightly unprepared, and convincing both Furanku and Hirogoro to join his coup attempt. The battle for the capital raged for weeks, and despite being heavily outnumbered, Hanolgoro’s quick surprise assaults did a great deal of damage to Nareshi’s army. Eventually, Hanolgoro’s troops would all perish under constant harassment, but each of the three rebels would escape Nareshi’s attempt to capture and execute these traitors, who escaped into the sea, making a blood brother pact to lead new lives as pirates. Kanu, decided to stay in Truk, having become enamored with the island during his diplomatic stay. Hirogoro on his return to Kwanto, also tried to seize the government, but failed, and was executed for his treason. Nareshi became violently angry due to this constant barrage of treason and treachery, and began executing anyone who did not declare full allegiance to him as the Shogun. Many in his extended family were executed, as well as several ministers, as Nareshi tightened his grip on the government. This in turn led to several revolts.
Morihei Ueshiba moved to Edo to take control of the small fleet, and was prepared to act in the event of any trouble. Shensi stayed in P’ingtung to found an Order House with the help of Ma Tang, Ichiro went to Satsuma to oversee the growth of the city, and Danzi moved to the city of Truk to found an Order House there. Kenji left to explore the Vietnamese Coast, but was never heard from again.
The Mahayana Buddhists spent their time building several new structures to increase their revenues, but when the tragic death of Hu Wang occurred, which was preceded by the death of Si Ling by only one month, many Buddhist Monks lost their faith and went their own way. Chow Wu was left to pick up the pieces.
Master Sun Wei concentrated all his efforts on founding an Order Estate in Honan, but unfortunately, this was a difficult task and he faced several difficulties that he just could not overcome. Xhu Wan Ni on the other hand had fewer difficulties in founding an Order Estate in Hopei, but unfortunately he died after putting three solid years into the effort. If only he had more time, his task would have been completed. Zun Tshu took control of the growing and powerful mounted forces and prepared a defense in Honan. His defense preparation was so proficient and meticulous, that he received a promotion. Shao Min Wei traveled to Anhui where he built an Order House in the region and Preceptory in the city. Finally, Dao-Ming set up an Order House in Shensi, while Ho Mun Shi visited the Black Dragon and increase the order status in that empire.
Bao Tso-Lin and Wend Chiang passed away before they could accomplish anything, as Tang-Feng took up the leadership of the faith. Tang_feng concentrated on the conversion of Kwangsi, which was moving along at a decent pace. Tuan, was traveling in the south, erecting two new structures before failing on another three attempts. Xiang was largely ineffective, while Bo-Wen saw some success in his tasks.

Emperor Hu Song went back to Hupei to take control of the military where he would prepare his troops against the possible threat of invasion. During that time, he also spent a great deal of the empire’s energy on completing an economic upheaval, as farmers from all over the Hu Empire were given their own lands, and instructed to farm for themselves and then sell their goods on the Free Market. The farmers and merchants rejoiced. This endeavor took up the bulk of the empire’s resources, so the only other event that transpired was as a result of Hu Tii’s successful attempt at exacting tribute from the region of Fukien with the help of the Taiping Ally. In other news, Kang Miao passed away, and Hu Song witnessed the birth of a daughter and son.
Emperor Lui II took command of the cavalry and headed to Shentung in anticipation of an attack from Honan. As luck would have it, the Honan army arrived shortly after Emperor Lui II met up with Huang’s Seige Engineers. Without time to prepare a proper defense, the Emperor’s forces were greatly outmaneuvered by the Honan, and were forced to retreat to Shensi without general Huang who perished in the battle. Si-Lei would fall almost immediately thereafter, as Huang’s troops were forced to retreat with Emperor Lui II who was wounded in the previous battle.
On the economic front, the region of Huang was colonized to ensure their co-operation, and Kansu received much-needed irrigation and farm roads. During this time, Han was also able to ease some of the tension in Hopei.
Emperor Chu Xi fortified the regions of Tsainan and Kiangsu, and then set out with his military, to reclaim the region of Shentung. There he met the forces of the Black Dragon. Although the Black Dragon forces outnumbered his own, his intelligence operatives had done considerable scouting and planning for the battle, and this made the biggest difference in the battle. Of course, Chu Xi’s abilities as a military leader were well respected as well. After the successful campaign to reclaim Shentung, it was a mere formality to retake the city of Si-Lei, which was later affected by a massive city fire, reducing its economic value. From there, Emperor Chu Xi took his forces to Tsainan, where the Hsiung’nu were just completing their dismantling the last of the new Field Forts there. Once again, the military tactics of Chu Xi and the military operatives carried the day against an inferior force. Once Tsianan was secured, Chu Xi marched onto to Shangtung and reclaimed that region as well, but leaving the city alone for the time being. After these two successful campaigns, Chu Xi returned to Honan.
Chu Vi, ruled for a few years, and then took some of the cavalry troops in Honan to liberate Tangchou. By this time, the allies in Kiangsu received reinforcements and the people of Kiangsu were reintroduced to the traditional Buddhist beliefs.
The Hsiung’Nu built up their military in preparation for a campaign against the Honan. Liao Ku marched his troops to Yen, where he observed that there was no standing army in the region of Tsainan. So, he charged the fields in Tsainan against the numerous Field Forts in the region. The fighting took its toll on the troops, but the Hsiung’Nu emerged victories. Unfortunately, dismantling all the field forts took a lot of time, which allowed the Honan to finish their campaign against the Black Dragon, and meet the Khan’s army in Tsianan. The battle that ensued was almost evenly fought, but the Honan had a slight advantage in tactics, and a significant advantage in numbers. Liao Ku was forced to retreat.
Unfortunately, these barbarians did not pay attention to matters of economics, refusing to make repairs to the various public works in the Khanate, resulting in some degradation and loss of income. Timur the Bright and Gu Chen of Bao Ding saw their final days in this existence as well.

And now the time came to reform the Eastern Orthodox Church to bridge the final gap and reunite the two Churches. Patriarch Gregory called a vast council to meet, and formalize the various changes that were needed, and invited Pope Fortunas of the Roman Catholic Church to join them. After much discussion, and much gold spent, the reforms were carried through, and the reunion was under way. Patriarch Gregory was indeed a visionary, and was the main force behind the reforms, although Cardinal Justian was a factor and strong proponent of the reforms as well. Fortunas accepted Cardinalship in the new Eastern Orthodox Church to ease the union.
However, during this time of transition, Patriarch Gregory passed away suddenly, causing a great deal of upheaval in the reunited Church. Further, seeing as how the Empire cannot stand unless it is united and wealthier, he sends forth his princes and lieutenants to bring the regions of the empire closer with success in Dacia Med., Epirus and Pannonia.
However, the nobility got very tired of the Emperor’s whims, and demanded representation. Emperor Heraklios resisted these demands, but the nobles threatened a civil war, and the Emperor knew that this needed to be avoided at all cost. They met in Ile de France after Ceasar had taken Vermandois. The Black Rose King now had control of a decent army, after all the fleeing garrisons had come to outskirts of Paris. It was just outside of Paris that the two armies met, and the superior numbers of Ceasar’s army would be the difference, despite being surprised by the Black Rose forces.
