LORDS OF THE EARTH CAMPAIGN 11
TURN #59
1191 - 1195
The Time of Darkness, Cold, Hunger and DEATH!
In January 1191 a large comet passed very close to the Earth.
Astrologers were amazed by the show and the portents of such an event. Not two
months later another comet passed even closer. Astrologers said such a combination
of events was unheard of and must presage great events. May came and with it
planting season but the ground was still frozen it wasn't till June that the
weather was good enough to do the spring planting. The summer growing season
was barely two months and always cloudy, crops were bad. Winter was long and
cold with snow piled deep on the mountains and passes buried. 1192 was little
better in fact the mountains might have been even worse due to the fact that
hardly any of the massive snow pack melted during the short cold summer. 1193,
1194 and 1195 all saw some improvement in the weather it is hoped that in 1196
everything will be back to normal except it may take years for all the snow
to melt in the mountains.
GM Notes: Yes your harvest sucks. For T#60 only all nations may sell agro at 2gp or 1nfp per agro.
All mountains cost +1ap for either ranges of regions above base cost
RULES IN USE 5.8.3
So if you don't have a copy either download them from the Throneworld site or
order a paper copy from Thomas!
RULE MODIFICATIONS
Any cultivated region can be colonized to 2gp by spending 15gp and 15nfp per
level
Any or all of your support cost can be paid by nfp at 1nfp = 2gp
Recruitment A Merchant house, Open Nation, or Secret Empire may spend gp in 25gp blocks to attempt to get nfp for Megalithic Projects. Base amount is 1d6 -1 for open nations and -2 for SEs. Note to SEs zero or less nfp result may get you exposed.
I am using the Lords 17 combat system.
Note that the Combat values for Warships are what they are worth in land combat.
For Naval combat they are as follows:
HEW = 3
HW = 2
EW = 2.25
W = 1.5
XEW = 1.5
XW = 1
Troops on ships Elite Infantry any Type = 1.5
Regular Infantry any Type = 1
Inexperienced Infantry, All Cav, Siege, ART = 0.5
Lords 11 Unit Conversion
Each point of cavalry and infantry represents 500 fighting men.
A warship or transport point = 1 ships with 500 men aboard each ship.
A siege point = 500 sappers or 5 ballista, catapults, siege engines, trebuchets
or battle towers.
A field fort point = 1 fort manned by 500 men each.
A wall point = 10 feet of city wall ramparts.
GM Notes
The investigate location action is normally only done with a leader but I will allow you to do it with INTEL but realize two things. They aren't very good at it and if you get a leader death result you will lose a point of Ops Capacity.
To ease the transition all of you have had your ISD raised a point and auto rule is set but this won't last so get your houses in order.
Please take a look at the map in your area and let me know of any differences between it and what is on your stat sheet.
My email is phillipbaird@sprintmail.com
Because I don't like "Magic" Numbers I am using percentages for basically all bonuses i.e. normally for every 5 ap extra spent on an action you get a +1. Now each ap is worth +0.20. So 5ap still gets you +1 but instead of 4ap being useless it has an 80% chance of getting you a +1. Same basic system is used for gp bonuses.
Please check your city spacer codes and see if any are wrong. This will same me a lot of time since it needs to be checked and if I have to do all the countries it will take awhile

The Minomoto Shogunate
Minomoto no Bujinteru Shogun
Diplomacy: Kurils (t)
The Shogun was bored so he ordered Mando Kani and Bujingami to attack something, anything. So Mando decided they would go attack Brunei. So off they went and collected some troops and headed down to Brunei. Now being honorable men they decided that Mando would just attack the city with the ground forces and Bujingami would stay with the ships and take care of anyone trying to escape by sea. So Bujingami wiated at the entrance to Brunei with 500 odd ships and 30,000 odd men who weren't included in the attack while Mando and his 65,000 odd men waded ashore and prepared to assault Brunei. Waiting to meet them was Sulika II king of Brunei with 25,000 men and good walls. It was shaping up to be a bloody battle and Sulika had hopes of holding off the Japanese but unfortunately for him he had 2 major problems. One Mando was a much better commander than him and two the Japanese had managed to bribe every gate guard in the city to open all the gates at the same time. In one great rush the Japanese rolled over the city losing about 3,000 men but killing all the defenders but a few isolated towers on the wall who were quickly mopped up. Sulika threw himself from the walls rather than be captured by the Japanese. Mando went on to Sack and Burn the city and loot the countryside before heading home.

Diplomacy: None
Kawan once again decided to go have some fun with those everfunny guys in the civilized lands. So he headed down to Bactria raided and enslaved the province then sacked and enslaved the city. The he headed over to Jowzjanan and did the same thing. He was laughing so hard at the antics of the people of Merv trying to defend themselves, that he fell off his horse and broke his leg. Even this couldn't get him out of his good mood since he was planing on stoping here anyway. His main wife bore him twin sons in late 1195. Life was good. Many slaves, much gold a huge army and twin sons!
Map changes: Merv and Bukhara reduced to zero gp cities
Bactria and Jowzjanan reduced to zero gp provinces
Bactria is going steppe due to lack of people
On a side note a shaman of the Tavarhod announced that the spirits had contacted him with a message for the world. He said that the spirits would send 3 signs. Two great lights in the skies a month apart and 5 years of cold and hunger for the world and low these things came to pass and the Tavarhod were very impressed and listened to his message and followed his advice. He then followed the Tavarhod around and convinced the survivors in Bactria and Jowzjanan to follow his teachings. He then moved on to Tukharistan and convinced them to follow his teachings

THE FEDERATION OF CREEK
Running Bear, Sachem of the Creek
Things were not going well for the Creek. Last cycle it was the Efulanders and the Emeralds this it was the Mayans and the Ciboney. Sly Fox was waiting around to see what bad news would occur and it didn't take long in the middle of 1191 White Eagle died to be replaced by Running Bear. Then in early 1193 word was brought of the invasion by the Mayans. So off Sly Fox went with his army and Running Bear. In the Short battle that followed Sly Fox was killed. Running Bear decided that since there were no living relations of Sly Fox that he would have to lead the Creek now. Realizing that with all his neighbors attacking him he could not hold out he decided that the Creek must leave and find a new homeland. So he gathered up all the people of Timuca then headed up into Okawaha, Creek and Santee to do the same before heading west.

Genkadi died at the start of 1192, which started a large fight over the crown. Fortunately for Luis his son Davis supported him and they were able to keep control of the Army. Fishhawk, Kung Lo and Tanis all died in the brief fighting in the capital. Lo Kai left for other places. Meanwhile Atakapa, Caddo, Chitimacha, Kansa, Onate and Yamasee all rebelled.
THE CARIB CIBONEY
Sikolla V, Heir to the Kingdom of Atlantis
Sikolla decided to join in the general game of beat on the Creek and sent 3 forces out to raid and conquer. Force number 1 under Ozu-roy with 30 ships was sent to raid the northern Creek areas. First stop was Chowan where a rather capable local army commander stymied the whole raid. The next stop was Catwaba which went very well. Then it was off to Santee, which went ok and he headed home. Force number 2 was lead by White Seahorse with 40 ships and was sent to raid the central coast of the Creek. The first stop was Creek itself and since Sly Fox and the army had just left to halt the Mayan invasion there was no one to stop them and they had a very good raid. Then it was off to Okawaha and this raid also went well and then it was off to home to split up the loot. Force number 3 was lead by Red Horshoby and consisted of 80 ships and 35,000 men which joined up with the Mayans to try and take some land from the Creek (See Maya)

Pan Lisom
Pan Li sent Chi Ka Wa and Chi In Wa off to conquer new lands. First stop was
Calusa, celebrating their new independence from Creek when Chi Ka Wa showed
up with 85,000 men and Chi In Wa with 140 ships. Needless to say it was a short
celebration Chi Ka Wa then took the
abandonned city of Key Largo. Boy was that Hard!
Chi Ka Wa then moved into Timuca where Sly Fox and Running Bear. In a short
sharp battle the Mayan morale broke and Chi Ka Wa retreated back to Calusa leaving
over 10,000 dead behind. After a short time to get things reorganized he headed
back to Timuca since by his count the Creek couldn't have more than 20,000 men
left and he still had close to 70,000 plus another
35,000 Cibonese who had arrived during his retreat. So they decided to join
up and go kill some Creek. Into Timuca they went and nobody was there! No army,
no people, nothing! They then headed up into Okawaha and finding no one there
either headed up into Creek but it was empty too. Where had the Creek gone?
They rested in Creek and pondered. Shortly before the end of 1194 Chi In Wa
died.
