PLATE GAMES SUPPLEMENT: I have completed and posted on the Web the Plate Games Supplement.  I recommend you read these Rules for they are the deviation that I use that is different from the 5.5 Version Rulebook.

RANDOMIZED ESI: On the Imperial Strength Index list, the ESI has been scrambled and then rounded to the nearest 10.  This is to mask your actual income.

MERCENARIES: The rules concerning mercenaries have changed.  All Geographic Regions will have 10mi in their Merc Pool.  Additional Mercenaries are available as Merc Bands which will be listed in the body of this newsfax.  Free Hordes can be hired as Mercenaries as well.  The full rules governing Merc Bands are found in the Plate Games Supplement.

CEDING TERRITORY:   These are the rules concerning the transfering of regions from one nation to another.   You may transfer the alliegance of P, PT, C, NT & T without penalty.  FA regions become NT.  EA become T.  A regions must pass a leader revolt check and then become EA.  F regions must two revolt checks and then will be pacified (you must get a garrison there on the turn of transfer).  If the controlling nation is of a different religion than the transferred region, an additional revolt check must be made.

SEA ZONE MAP CHANGE: The Bay of Biscay is next to the English Channel and Brittany no longer faces the Celtic Sea.

CITY IMPERIAL SIZE: Every controlled city also counts against your Imperial Size.  I will be using two formulae to determine this: It's either every 3 cities times your Size Divisor counts as 1 Imperial Size (if friendly, pacified or full allied, see below for the
variation) -or- every 10 city GPv times your Size Divisor counts as 1 Imperial Size, whatever is lower.   This rule has just kicked in this turn.

COLOR CODED NATION HEADERS: The Colors coded on each nation represents your technology level.  GREY is Tech 1 & 2,  BLUE is Tech 3, RED is Tech 4, GOLD is Tech 5, GREEN is Tech 6, AQUAMARINE is Tech 7, PURPLE is Tech 8, BROWN is Tech 9 and OLIVE is Tech 10.

Pompeius Mactator with 50,000 mixed cavalry, 7500 archers and 25 catapults surrounded Schloss Wulfenstein.  Its approaches to the sea are blocked by Jorgen the Cardinal with 5 dromonds, 5 galleys, 20 brigantines.  Aix was protected by Pope Benjamin with 18,000 infantry and 28,500 archers.  Magyar King Stephen II expressed his disappointment that schismatic armies occupied Lorraine and demanded their evacuation.  He hired the local mercenary pool, the Landsknechts.
February- Pope Benjamin called for 'all true Christians to come out and stand up for what is right'.  The call to Crusade against the Celts was heeded in Gaul and along the Rhine River.  In Hungary, folks weren't as mad against the Celts and many wondered why there was even a war.  The influence of Scottish missionaries have had an effect.  Bishop Stan in charge was Wulfenstein's defense attempted to escape the Citadel but was captured by the Roman besiegers.

Diatonius and 20,000 light horsemen of T. Pompeius Mactator.  The Romans again fought with valor and skill but were outnumbered.  The weather (rainy) hurt them.  Having lost 2/3 of their men the Romans abandoned Alsace and fled to Liguria.  Pope Benjamin was slain in battle.

In 1166, the mayor of Powhattan converted to Euro-Pagan and invited the Efulanders in.  So Prince Goldeye and the Tobacco allies came in and obtained a tributary arrangement.  Geran then spoke on the subject:
" To my  people of Efuland.  Some years ago, we gave the Etowah Nation a part of our homeland.  POWHATTAN.  I know you were all unhappy about the decision that was made from my grandfather Dag Flamestar.  My grandfather told me that he had to do this to keep peace in the New World.  He did not want another war, and he wanted all to be friends."
" As you know, war has come again to the lands.  The Etowah nation has been attacked.  We have offered aid, but none was needed.  Yet if none was needed, then why do they not protect the land my grandfather gave up to them.  Unprotected, it now can be taken by the enemies that are attacking the Etowah ."
" So I say to you that WE will protect the POWHATTAN nation from now on.  We will come to their aid where the Etowah has failed.  We will be a COMPLETE NATION AGAIN!"

THE ETOWAH TEMPLE SECT
Puline, Sachem and High Priest of Etowah
DIPLOMACY: Powhattan(ne)
The Etowah was troubled by the Ciboney and the Maya again.  The Ciboney began to raid the coast from Chowan in 1167 and worked their way southward.  The Grand Army now led by Puline (Chief Gunbok died in 1167) along with Sly Fox (who evaded his murderer) prevented the Etowah from plundering Chowan.  Then later that year, 45,000 light cavalry, 2000 sappers and the Bocunio (18,000 Toltec warriors dressed like black bears armed with jagged obsidian swords) unloaded in Calusa and secured the region.  the well-balanced force of 10,000 light cavalry, 10,000 heavy cavalry, 40,000 heavy infantry, 13,000 infantry and 62,500 light infantry and 1000 sappers reacted to the invasion.  The Maya leader, persistant Ip Sha was wounded by a venomous arrow, despite his bodyguard.  The Maya had to trust the Bocunio captain.  The Etowah had twice the numbers on the Maya and almost three times combat strength thus the invaders were pureed to mush and dumped like sludge into the swamps.  Only 3000 Etowah died and 59,500 invaders were slain including Ip Sha.
That time proved to be valuable to the Ciboney raiders.  106 warships plundered Catawba and Santee causing both regions to rise in rebellion.  While the troops put down these regions, Okawaha was pirated.  Finally Puline kept the sea-savages from doing any damage to Timuca and Calusa.
Wild Turkey visited Powhattan and was greeted with shut doors.  Powhattan had rejected Etowah in favor of Efujar.
