Price Changes: For those of you who have been sending and recieving turns by eMail and faxes from the Web, I will now charge 3.50 + 25cent; per BL per turn (That's 50cent; less) per turn effective with the processing of the next turn (Lords 9: turn 124, Lords 10: turn 84, Lords 11, turn 24 and Lords 12, turn 1). Due to increasing paper, copying and mailing costs I must increase 'snail-mail' turns to $4.50 + 25 per BL per turn at the same time. I encourage all of you to join the internet as soon as possible.


Section [9.9.1] How Nomadic Nations Work: The first two sentences, "When out in ....vast via Horde Diplomacy." should be crossed out. Table 2.9 make a provision for nomadic societies to ignore troop support in steppe regions.


Port Fortresses: Just to clarify and clear up that confusion. Port Fortresses may not be used for conduit anchors. You can, however, use them for land trade if the port fortress is within your Trade Range of sea zones from your nearest port.


Lords of the Earth, Campaign 12H: It's happening now! The Lottery has come and gone and there are some good nations open. There are some good countries open in Africa and Asia. If you are interested let me know electronically, in person or by phone. Turn #1 is due Friday, 11 April 1997.

Lords 11 Unit Conversion
Each point of cavalry and infantry represents 500 fighting men. A warship or transport point = 1 ships with 500 men aboard each ship. A siege point = 500 sappers or 5 ballista, catapults or siege engines, trebuchets and battle towers. A field fort point = 1 fort manned by 500 men each. A wall point = 10 feet of city wall ramparts.

Wiganlun perished in 1111 (four sticks). He left no children. A distant cousin (so he claims) was ready and willing to step in, though. They called him Viwano because he had a bear claw scar on his forehead. Yeandu the Kurilic city was now 2 Gpv.

THE TUNGUS KINGDOM OF PO-HAI

The server crashed in Bohortu causing all sorts of problems in Shenyang. The oxen are not as productive as they used to be. The &#*!! Zolyang raided Shangtu. Shangtu rebelled and now feudal Jehol was isolated.

THE ZOLYANG HORDE

Dolkarkhan wasn't about to stand still and be subjected to intel services. He went on the move. The 105,000 nomads crossed into Manchuria and conducted a raid into Shangtu. Then they headed back to the sunset. The nomad federations of Hsien-Ma in Tumet, the Gobi, the Baling of Hsi-Hsia were not anxious to move. Then in Uigur land, the indiginous Ritaen fought the Zolyang. Their 22,000 was no match for the great host. What was left of the Ritaen was then absorbed into the collective. After that the ride was dull. The Zolyang stopped in Karluk to get a drink of fresh water.

THE DA TANG EMPIRE

The Zolyang attack into Uigur against the indiginous nomads eventually led to the rebellions of Yümen, Uigur, Turfan and Tunhuang - for the Tang did nothing to save the Ritaen. Emperor Terwi found a new noble concubine and was able to get his son. His brother Jibo was disappointed but accepted his new government job with zeal. While Lone Spoke went to Szechwan, the Prime Minister Xhao Cao went to Tonkin and was wounded there. Some of the assassins were caught and were handed over to the torture department. Expanding cities: Yangchou - 4 Gpv, Sanfong Shan - 4, Kaifeng - 5, Changyuan - 5, Wuling - 5. A road was built going from Shensi to Houma to Hopei. The engineers also paved Hupei to Lichou.

A beautiful new city was built in Nanling called Maiji. The Hwai were hard to diplomacize because their city was heavily populated (and is more populous than any Foy city).

THE KHMER EMPIRE

DIPLOMACY: Leyte(nt, until it revolted)
Since Nan Pung was colonized it was only fair that Hmong and Lampang be settled by Hindus too. Both rebelled but after Siddharta and Govatsa were through with them they gained a Hindu caste. Sivaya did some deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Tonkin and the Mekong Sea. He found no whales. Prince Kaundinya made good with the distant islands of Leyte (next to isolated Luzon) until he stole their most beautiful princess. Then they chased him with their skiffs but couldn't catch the prince and his bride. They slummed in Sarawak. Leyte returned to hostility. Cities: Vinh to 6 Gpv, Angkor - 11, Bharmali - 6. A new town Kartikaya was founded in Nan Pung.

THE COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE OF SRIVIJAYA
Sri Suryanarayana III, CEO of Srivijaya, Inc.
DIPLOMACY: Kedah(f)
The Chairman placed a city (Naraypur) on the Malacca side of Kedah and bragged to the natives about his sexual power. They were truly impressed. Lord Kikapur landed a modest force against the savages of Atjeh and in bloody battle military converted them to Mahayana Buddhist. There wasn't enough to do the same against the Medan so he didn't even try. Tragedy struck when 12,500 Yampi stormtroopers on board 20 warships and 10 transports assailed and sacked Kupang from the sea and departed. The Timorese were very unhappy with the world.

The Goolu went back to soliciting, sending the young master out to talk politics with more distant campfires. The Wanderer hunted kangaroo in Mungo and Tibuburra. In Geelong, by the Spencer Gulf, was built the town of Churinga.

Ronen wanted a wife so he went to Arakan who had lots of brides. The deal allowed for Arakan to accept Ronen as boss but without much obligation. Batelos was not very zealous as a missionary. While anchored off Pegu, Ajemon heard of the Yampi attack on Kupang. He arrived to the scene way too late. He returned home. Cities: In Assam, Jemonga was founded. Myanmar and Rangoon both grew to 4 Gpv.

THE CHOLA MANDALAM
His Magnificence, Chola Gunamuditya II, Maharaja of Bharat
DIPLOMACY: Sikkim(c)
Ammugi climbed to Sikkim to try and make friends. These were not easy people to get along with. A road now connects Banavasi with Konkan. The economy changed from farm based to free wage earners.

THE HIDDEN KINGDOM OF PUNJAB

A mass of wildcats came down from the hills and clogged the streets. The regency was scared to go outside for fear of scratches, bites and being licked by sandpaper tongues.

The Jhelum then got a reprieve. Runjiba thought his life might be short anyway. Yarkhand was invaded by Samanid Arabs. After they left Yarkhand became neutral.

Sinjar wanted desperately to assist some idol-kissing infidels who wanted to get back their lands of other idol-kissing infidels. So he asked Fadel Maja to get the job done. Fadel didn't relish the thought of being a boot licking lacky of licentiousness, so he and his men (15,000 cavalry, 15,000 infantry and 100 catapults) 'accidently' sacked and burned Kashgar. Yarkhand revolted from Punjab after that shameful event. Having pocketed then wasted their ill-gotten cash, the Samanid army went south into the wastelands and pacified Zamindavir. Sadu died and his estate was given a handsome gift from the Emir. The mean Tavok horde arrived to Bogazgol scaring everyone.

ARRAN EMIRAT

The hordes of Tavok entered Georgia then headed into Levedia country and passed through Yayik finally leaving Arran lands alone.

The Caliph all but called a jihad on those devil Tavoks. He guarded Baghdad and sent his lieutenants to defend the fortified cities. The Arbiliq city of Al Mostad was restored and given palisades. Az Zufra grew to 2 Gpv.

THE KARIMID SULTANATE OF ALEPPO

DIPLOMACY: Petra(fa)
Hasan tried to call a jihad against the demonic Tuvak but no one wanted to go to paradise. He had to do with is own reinforcements which had commissioned a new general, Konal, to take to Jerusalem. Konal force-marched his way there. Then sailed south retrieved the stranded garrisons in Napata and Ghebal Gharib (They were declared protectorate - but both rebelled due to the great distance) and pushed them hard to move back north. At Misr, they caught 10,000 Yemeni marines who had just captured Kalisma and were attacking Misr and its 20 field forts. With 11,000 cavalry Konal (a Coptic assassin was captured and killed) and his exhausted horsemen beat the rascals, killing them all. Kalisma was liberated but the navy was lost. Konal then gathered all the cavalry to protect Petra not a moment too soon. 15,000 Arabian camel-riders crossed the Umayrid range. Konal and 23,500 cavalry plus 2000 Palmyra riders halted their advance and trashed the Yemeni so much they turned back. 5500 men and horse were killed or incapcitated. The Petrans came back to Karimid rule thanks in part to the result of this battle.

THE ZAIDI EMIRAT OF DANAKIL

Tala with 30 warships, 4 transports and 10,000 fighters sailed the Red Sea to Kalisma which was assaulted (while the leaderless navy was dispatched - all 18 Karimid ships were destroyed but they took out the 4 transports and 1 Yemen warships). Having done this deed, Tala took on the heavily fortified region of Misr. It was misfortune that Syrian chivalry were passing through. Tala and his entire landing were killed. The navy returned back home. Prince Shanber after defending Hijaz for a spell advanced to Petra but his camel army was repulsed. Only 3000 returned to Hijaz with Shanber alive.

THE BLACK HORDE (Karakhanids)

The 75,500 Black-horders rode west through Pechneg land and then into the Hungarian basin. There were no wild hordes to pick up. This was all sedentary stuff. Disgrunted, but lucky not the be smacked, the Karakhans rode back into Levedian territory and ended their tour in the Levedian cultivated homeland.

THE GREAT TAVOK HORDE (Cherkassy, Xi Xia, Tangut, Jark)
Layaidu, Khagan of the Steppe Peoples
HORDE DIPLOMACY: Khabal(ne), Obemir(ne), 'Anipsai(ne), Yehebsh(a)
The Tavok suffered difficulties in Pontus. Someone stole part of the treasury. Layaidu didn't have enough provisions to support his troops, so he stiffed the allies and starved the slaves. Of the allies Haszi and Tavarhod departed him. The others: Ilhand and Damchog suffered attrition from malnutrition. Now down to 183,500 cavalry the great horde ambled around the Khazar Sea and messed around in the Turkish steppe then in 1115, they rode southwest to Bogazgol, Samanid territory. A Samanid assassin tried to off Layaidu but Layaidu is unkillable.

AFRICA

THE MAKURIA KINGDOM OF NUBIA

DIPLOMACY: Adulis(nt), Amhara(t)
Avar with not enough troops tried to exact tribute from Faiyum. His army too heavy losses. Avar was seriously wounded and died in 1114. Adulis became cultivated. The A'ir breakup eventually led to the increase in power of the nomads in the Chadic Savannah. Prince Mithrean found that the occupied city of Iksandr could not be diplomacized.

THE A'IR NOMADS
A lack of food and support drove the troops mad. They had been stuck in the Sinai wilderness for too long and no manna was going to come down to save them. The A'ir bands killed Biren and scattered, making their way back in small groups back to the Savannah where they came out of.

THE MUSENGEZI OF GAMO-GOFA
Momballa-da, Grand King of the Rifts
DIPLOMACY: Sidamo(nt)
Sidamo, despite their pagan ways, became a subject kingdom. Money was sent to the ailing Nubians.

NAMPULA KINGDOM

Ruvama's port cities was called Lamehege. Mombassa became cultivated.

THE ZAMBEZI CONFEDERATION

Lakat, Protector the Confederation
DIPLOMACY: none
The Chieftains brought back Lakat to govern them once more. Amb called on the Senate at the Great Hall to support the exploration of the great blue void. Their volunteers were found to join Manuwasi in his exploration of the Imhambane Sea. Tswana cultivated.

Since Kumalo had trouble getting children, he asked the son of the first Protector of Zi, Zoro, to become his heir (despite the fact that Zoro was 25 years Kumalo's elder). Zoro still had asperations to overthrow the Zambezi Senate and become dictator of his old home.

THE IBO KINGDOM OF THE BINI NATION
Nzekwu, Bini Oni
DIPLOMACY: Burkina(nt)
Time was to expand the small cities: Nigeri, Ezi, Ikeja and Ijebu ode grew each to 2 Gpv. Ikego cultivated. 50 tons of gold was shipped to the Sicilian Moors.

THE DIA KINGDOM OF SONGHAY

DIPLOMACY: Kanuri(ne), Daza(nt)
Bankilare, Gao and Niamey were brought to 2 Gpv each. Kanuri demanded a city.

Tekbartovl died after a reign of little distinction except longevity. His son Faon was the new great Ghana.

The rumbling and irritating Karakhanids ran all over Levedia. They parked their horses right by the capital city which grew to 5 Gpv with 20 foot walls.

THE GREAT PRINCIPALITY OF SUZDAL

DIPLOMACY: Veposkava(f)
The Grand Prince Ituval in a wonderul 'humanitarian gesture', rebuilt Volkhov, which had been sacked by the vicious Cherkassy horde a couple decades ago. He wanted the Veposkavans to know how great it would be to join the Suzdal. Kalyazin, the capital, renamed to Moscow. The region of Muscovy felt ripped.

Sigtryg and the Swedish navy (25 warships) blocked the Skaggerak from alien ships. The Swedes took a neutral religion stance.

THE MAGYARORSZAGH KINGDOM OF HUNGARY

Tarach was trusted to take all the troops to do all the dirty work. He and his horde sized cavalcade, hood trampled the Holsteiners just because they deserved it. Holstein was militarily converted to Aachen Catholic. Then the general and his army captured children from Obodria, Pomerania, Sorbia, Kuyavia and Sandomir.

THE POLISH ALLIANCE

The Mother's ships were used to shuttle Saxon infantry to Cornwall. They then moved back home.

THE SAXON KINGDOM OF GREATER CONNACHTA

The Anglia garrison of Danishmen suffered mutinies while their transports were called back to Galway to be demobilized. With 13,000 Prince Luidnac loaded on church boats and crossed the Irish Sea to debark on Cornwall. With Coenwulf and an additional 4500 cavalry, 6000 infantry, the Connaughtians attacked the Epop fortified position at Wessex: 25 castles, 8500 cavalry, 500 sappers. In two different attacks the Connaught tried to dislodge the Germans. Both tried failed - both sides sustained heavy losses. Coenwulf and Luidnac regrouped with 8000 men in Cornwall. There were 19 castles left. In 1113, Luidred died. Two years later Luidnac got sick and perished. Their dynasty went extinct. The chief ealdorman was Coenwulf and his family took over the Galway palace.

THE TEUTONIC KINGDOM OF BRITLAND

A brother of the Legate Alfrith Rodden, the minor noble Karl von Rodden sailed over to Sussex to claim his new inheritance, Sussex and the pacified land of Wessex.

THE GERMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

CONSECRATION: none
The old Pope and Legate Rodden defended Wessex waiting for the Roman reinforcements. They did not come - there were some problems. Bishop Kraft had made a deal to send gold, the university and himself to Aquileia in exchange for help. 30,000 infantry came out of Italy marching through Burgun lands to Basel and awaited. There wasn't enough ships to carry the lot of them to Britland. General Vopiscus refused to leave some of his soldiers behind. There was a logjam.
