Excerpt from the Secret History of the Second Tang Empire:
"Thus with the reintegration of the Eastern Middle Kingdom, the Tang Empire foresaw the coming of the great age of prosperity. Tales spread far and wide that in the Tang Empire, the streets were truly paved with gold."
-Xou-Ti of Hagan, 1340
Fuang-Qu was concerned about his son, Zhao-Bo, so he had the poor lad married. Just before the ceremony the heir and a bunch of male friends got blasted at the 'Goose and Hsiung-Nu'. Zhao-Bo got very sick after drinking mucho Ny-Ka-Py drink, Sake, Kumiss and especially Jägermeisters in coconut shells. Of course, the pink pool tables didn't help any. In Lanchou, Bing was made into a city. Then a postal road appeared from Changan to Bing to Chengdu. Chekiang felt the pressure and signed on before the black beetles ate them.

THE SERENE PALACE OF THE GREATER WHEEL
Cho, Bodhisattva of Chan Mahayana
DIPLOMACY: none
An abbey was mortared in Kiangsu but elsewhere things weren't so cheery. The effort to raise new temples in Tsainan, Hopei, Chilhi, Shentung, Fucheng and Chekiang suffered from incompetant builders, theft, sabotage and just plain bad weather. The Honan abbey was destroyed in a suspicious fire. Monasteries were founded in Hunan and Szechwan. The Tang sent alms. Anyone who became a monk in China no longer were tired to any town or city but could move freely. Knowledge was easily gained.

THE KINGDOM OF BURMA
Balurin, King of Burma
DIPLOMACY: Kamarupa(hs)
Akalsei's Ganges expedition had incurred the wrath of the Cola Mandalam who considered the Vangas to be a client state. Akalsei gathered up 90,000 infantry, 12,000 cavalry and 3000 sappers and awaited outside Tamralipti to confront those bullies. Late in 1071, they did arrive. Like Akalsei, their king Rajadhira rode on an elephant. Rajadhira's mount was decked in greedy jewels. Behind the flaunting tyrant rode 116,500 Mandalam cavalry arrayed in blue, gold and red columns. 26,500 archers and 10,000 engineers followed them. Early in battle, Akalsei feel deathly ill causing much confusion in the key early moves of battle. The cause of the injury was a poison thumbtack on the ground which was overlooked by the guards. The Cola took advantage of the confusion and crushed the brave Burmese in a three way charge manuever (two behind flanks, one forward). The battle was a decisive loss and a disaster. Akalsei lost his life and his army was destroyed. The Mandalams occupied Nadavaria and then crushed Maghada in the name of the Rajputs. They later killed off the garrison in Jaunpur. Tirhut, isolated, rebelled.
Panic in the west was met by cool in the capital. The chancellor, Avos, arranged for an elaborate funeral for the heroic, tragic Akalsei. Balurin, his 10 year old son, was then installed as king in 1072. The Kamarupans chased Geran out of their land in 1073.

THE COLA MANDALAM
His Magnificence, Cola Rajadhira, Maharaja of Bharat
DIPLOMACY: none
Rajadhira gained much prestige in India by driving the Burmese from the Ganges. He made up for his ancestors' lack of support when Vehlakerat fell by ripping through the Pagan military in Nadavaria. He occupied Nadavaria for himself. The Ranga got Maghada back, but Cola troops had to pacify it. The great force stayed in Bihar for awhile. In 1074, they made a crossing to Jaunpur to rout the Burmese garrison there. Needless to say, trade with Burma was turned off.

THE RAJPUT KINGDOM OF GWALIOR
Ranga Bhoja (III), Rajput Raja
DIPLOMACY: none
The Ranga whined about their misfortune and cowered in their Gwalior castle. Sujaimul died in 1075. Kuru, Tirhut and Jaunpur sent small, glittery gifts to the new king.

THE HIDDEN KINGDOM OF PUNJAB
Jangikarna, Hidden King of Lahore
DIPLOMACY: Gujarat(ea)
"It is with a disturbed soul that I publish my thoughts concerning the recent actions in Hindu lands as of late. I have been kept up late at night worrying about the fate of fellow Hindus in Rajput lands. Although our relationship with our Rajput brothers have been cool at best, I am troubled at the extent of Budhist incursion into Hindu lands; my personal gurus are troubled as well.
Speaking of gurus, the need for the Hindu primacy has never been greater, and I again urge my Rajput brothers to forsake their arms and travel a more enlightened road. I would hope our Cholan brothers would support a move to mutually strengthen our position in the world, by strengthening our religious impact; not to mention the fact that all those nasty and destructive secretive groups might be silenced.
And finally, it is with a belief and a faith firmer than that of the ancient Hebrews at Jericho, that I proclaim that the rightful kingdom of Kashmir will be obtained from the clutches of the northern pagans, and that said pagans will cease to be. This I shout from the highest peaks of my kingdom with a voice that will carry it to the furthest valley."

-Jangikama (King of Punjab and Ruler of the Indus)
The Rajah restored a safe land route to Somanatha to shut the complaining carpet traders up. Tarim quietly stopped payment on the checks they had sent. The new king of Khiragu, Chiro, has asked for Punjab protection.

DEADLY HORDE ATTACKS IN PERSIA
Kokohul, Arran, Samoleh vs. Buyids
1071
With aid and assistance by the Samanid Emir, the Samoleh Turks and the Shi'ite Arran come to an understanding with each other. They agree to fight the Buyids. By the end of the year, the armies of Arran, Samoleh and the Kökohul gather up near Nishapur.
1072
64,500 Blue Turks (still Asia-Pagan) led by Jawziki and advised by the Samanid Prince Sinjar, Arran's 12,500 mountain cavalry, 10,000 siege-men and 40,000 swordsmen following Prince Bashad, Katal and Jimballa plus Jurji and Galdekat of Samoleh and their compliment of 47,500 knights march down the Silk Road from Nishapur in a very noisy fashion. They lay siege to Buyid held and defended Hamadan later that year. The ailing Sultan Beshir and his best general Mahmud defend the city which boasts 20 foot walls and a garrison of 25,000 infantry. Lacking siege technology, the Turks and Ishma'ili Shi'a troops fail to capture the Imami Shi'a city by the end of the year.
1073
After one years' grueling, nauseating siege, which took its toll on all the armies, Hamadan fell. In the late stages of battle, Jawziri was captured. He was rescued within two months. The Buyid Emir Beshir was slain while Hamadan was sacked. His lieutenant Mahmud was taken prisoner.
1074
The surviving troops: 40,000 Kökohul, 30,000 Samoleh cavalry plus 30,000 Arran armed men march to Zagros but the 50 foot walls of Isfahan deter them. Yezd was forced tribute later in the year. Yazd city was shaken up and gutted.
1075
In the wake of the flooding refugees, the hordes enter Fars. The capital, Shiraz, defended by 12,500 grunts and specialists and 50 foot promised an uglier version of Hamadan. They agree to split up. The Arran army returned back to home, hearing rumors of Ab'ul Sharif's death. The Samoleh push on to Khuzestan which they force tribute from. Borazjan was sacked. The Kökohul Turks attack Laristan in Samoleh's name and destroy unlucky Jahrom.
The Buyids weather the storm with most everything else intact. The horde repellant just wasn't working though like it ought to.

THE KÖKOKUL HORDE (Once More)
Kalar, Khan for Hire - Will Use Sword
DIPLOMACY: none
Jawziri really hated settling down and itched for action. He obtained free passage through Samanid territory and led his cavalcade of 64,500 horse-archers to Khurasan to rendezvous with Samoleh's golden horde. They all went down the Silk Road singing out of tune Who songs until they made it to Jibal. They participated in the siege of Hamadan, 1072-73. With the city sacked and the Kökohul getting their share, Jawziri helped the Samoleh gain Yezd in 1074. In 1075, after a reconnaissance in Fars, the 30,000 veterans forced tribute from Laristan for the Samoleh and sacked undefended Jahrom.
Jawziri died in 1075 while on campaign. His son Kalar took command. Back at Kashmir, Kalar's eldest son Chiro seized control of Khiragu and declared the city and region to be free of horde influence.

THE SAMANID EMIRAT OF BUKHARA
Ahmad III, Emir of Bukhara
DIPLOMACY: Khuttal(f)
A loan was taken out and much money was sent to Arran and some went to Samoleh. The Kökohul trampled through the country while Uzbek was restored to protectorate status. Shazam went to Khuttal.

ARRAN EMIRAT (Razarid House)
Katal ar Razar, Governor of the Roughlands
DIPLOMACY: none
Prince Bashad and generals Katal ar Razar and Jimballa campaign in the south to assist Samoleh's effort to destroy the apostate Buyids. When Ab'ul Sharif began to die, the survivors of the war came back to Tabaristan just in time to see the divots fly. Both Jimballah and Bashad caught the Gulf War Syndrome and perish within days of each other (most the other soldiers complained of minor pains and weakness). With the death of Ab'ul Sharif, Katal ar Razar was the last leader left standing. There was no male heir apparent. Katal's son, Garif, married two of Ab'ul Sharif's daughters and Katal became the Rough Governor. Nothing rebelled.

THE EMIRAT OF SAMOLAH
Jurji, Emir es Samolah
DIPLOMACY: none
Jurji called on a mass conscription and outfitted new horse units to fight for the destruction of the hated Buyids. Their assassins had failed to tag Jurji so the Host Emir was free to move. Sole control of Jibal was gained after a terrible siege. In the next few years, tribute was forced upon Yezd, Khuzestan and Laristan while their cities were sacked. Dasht Kavir was too far away from Jurji while he was in Khuzestan so it revolted.

BUYID EMIRAT OF SHIRAZ
Nasr bin Sa'id al Buya, Emir of Emirs, Pasha of Shiraz
DIPLOMACY: none
The horde romp through Buyid territory destroyed yet another Buyid army but least the troops got their licks in. New Emir Nasr ruled a Buyid Emirat that was still (amazingly) in one piece. Refugees huddled at Isfahan and Shiraz. Abadan converted to Imami Shi'a. Hormuz became cultivated.

THE ABBASID CALIPHAT (Dar al Islam)
Al Kawa'id, Kalifat Rasul Allah, Commander of the Faithful
DIPLOMACY: Qatar(nt), Kurdistan(ea)
The Caliph earned the hatred of Christians when he authorized the Ghuzz to help Nusrat as Sharif and Achmed al Fakir slaughter all the Rumas in Charsionon. The beer drinking culture there came to an end and Charsionon became a unpopulated deserted land. To the south, Al Hasa was recolonized with good, loyal Sunni Muslims back to (1/4).

THE GHUZZ TURKS
Abd Jamal as Sumna, Nizam of the Ghuzz
DIPLOMACY: none
The 21,500 cavalry Ghuzz lost troops crossing the rugged mountains between Edessa and Charsionon. They helped the 15,000 or so Iraqis perpetuate another atrocity in Charsionon. Hands bloodied, the Ghuzz returned to Baghdad to await the next scheme.

THE KARIMID SULTANATE OF ALEPPO
Uthman ibn Sirdar, Sultan of Aleppo
DIPLOMACY: none
Uthman expanded his army and called on the fresh troops to go help out his army in Misr. In total the force of 40,000 cavalry, 12,500 infantry were cazlled on battle early in 1072 when the Yemeni attempted a seabourne assault of Kalisma. Their 26 warships, 1500 siegemen, 15,000 infantry, 1500 cavalry plus 2000 Madina camelry and 1000 Asir hill tribesmen were well prepared against normal cities but not against the overwhelming numbers of Uthman's. After two days of bloody assult where the Yemeni made a good account of themselves, the Zaidi gave up and took their few survivors and paddled home. Victory didn't last one for the 28,000 surviving knights. Late in 1072, some 110,000 Karakhanid and Ilhand hordesmen ambled their way with free passage through Misr and Sinai. Their rude manner belied their ill intentions which became apparent in 1073 when the attacked and looted Palestine. Caught off guard, the Karimid horse army moved to protect Jerusalem in case the Black Horde braved an assault. The Black Horde went on to loot and plunder the regions of Jordan, Syria and Aleppo itself. Uthman could not stop them. He hadn't their numbers on the field. He could only protect his walled cities.

THE ZAIDI EMIRAT of DANAKIL
Ar Rakdad, Guardian of the Mandab Straits
DIPLOMACY: none
Admiral Al A'ma returned with the Medina and Asir armies and the main army and navy of the Zaidi to break Kalisma. He couldn't do it so he returned in shame and died in 1074. Only 3000 cavalry, 1500 infantry and all 26 warships survived the assault. The Asir chief was bitter over the loss. The Zaidi contributed to the Nubians in gold. Maybe these backwards Copts would do better.

THE KHAIRID EMIRAT OF EGYPT
Crushed by Karakhanid and Nubian armies, the Egyptian Emirat became unviable. Barqa, Ad Diffah and Thebes have gone neutral. Egypt and Faiyum, of course, have been occupied by Coptic lawyers. The last Khairid Emir it was said was chopped up and fed to pigs by the Black Horde.

THE BLACK HORDE (Karakhanids)
Qarbu, Khan of Kara-Khan, Yabghu of the Western Horde
DIPLOMACY: none
The Black Horde after some years of inactivity stormed right back into the lists and made a furious run through the Nile Valley. They slew the poor people who hid from them the first time. On the way down river, both Iksandrat and Al Iksandr were sacked again. The Khairid treasure room was put in bags and the horde went galloping off into Sinai. The Karimids granted the Karakhanids free passage, a privilige soon revoked once Palestine was raped. The pillage path burned farms and towns in Jordan, Syria and rich Aleppo. Qarbu with his force of 91,000 Karakhanids and 19,000 Ilhandi taunted the Assyrian King to fight in a real battle. The Syrians didn't obviously - they would die if they did.

THE MAKURIA KINGDOM OF NUBIA
Vies Ben Boru'am, Negus of Nubia, Liberator of Aegypt
DIPLOMACY: none
With lots of venture capital from the Zaidi and Musengezi, Vies raisxed an actual (as opposed to ceremonial, token or toy) army. This was 27,500 cavalry along with 12,000 infantry (armed with bells) from before. Vies waited one eyar to scratch his back, then hopped off to Faras, Thebes, Faiyum and Egypt. The Nubians witnessed the ruined landscape brought on by generations of warfare. No more. This ruined land would be Coptic again just like in the days of Ptolemy XXX by jingo. Egypt offered little resistence while it was military converted to Christian in 1074. Same fate for Faiyum in 1075. Time ran out, Vies' itchless back costed him Thebes, for now.

THE CHERKASSY MEGA HORDE (Xi Xia, Tavoc, Tangut, Jark,)
Khorchin, Khagan of the Steppe Peoples, Master of All He Surveys
DIPLOMACY: none
The 377,500 mass horde thundered across the territory of Levedia, trying hard not to be too distracting - but all fled them or froze in terror. They stampeded across the Russian steppe until mid 1072 when in Moldavia they split up. A smaller group of Tuvac, Ghirmac, Cipsac and Zorzad crossed the Transylvanian mountains and entered Alfold with Magyar good will - and sacked Budapest. The Hungarians now ran in terror and tired to move their government while Jehum and his main host (some 624,500 riders) advanced on Prague. He spoke these words just before entering:
"I have come as the instrument of your God's will to avenge the evils of the farthest east of my lands. Let all those who wish bow down and beg for forgiveness, for retribution is upon you."
So Prague was cleaned out and torn apart. The Cherkassy, Cuman, Ghazi, Wigai and Ghujin advanced west to Papal lands by way of Thuringia and Franconia. The smaller group made their way through Slovakia, Austria, Bavaria and Nordgau to go to Franconia. At the same time (July 1074) Munich am Rhein and Wiesbaden were assaulted and destroyed. Then to everyone's horror, the Cherkassy enslaved all the peasants of Hesse and the allies enslaved those who lived in Fraconia. In 1075, when these deeds were done, Jehum died. He had the whole world under his power. There was trouble after that. The lesser hordes of Tuvac, Ghirmak and Zorzad fell under the leadership of the Cipsac Khan, Suchaw, in Franconia. In the void of leadership in the main Cherkassy host, the Wigai defected and joined the Cipsacs. The Cuman, Ghazi and Ghujin were loyal to the eventual new leader of Xi Xia, Khorchin.

THE CIPSAC CONFEDERATION OF FUN HORDES
Suchaw, Khan of the Tires

DIPLOMACY: no effect
The Magyars had hoped to survive the coming of the Cherkassy without much harm like last time. No such luck as these boobs entered Alfold and Bohemia and sacked and plundered. Jasper and his army of cavalry ducked in Meissen to evade the onslaught. The damage had been done. The treasury was saved but the government collapsed. There were rebellions everywhere. Moravia, Austria, Carinthia and Thuringia became independent. Saxony and Holstein joined Denmark. The Slovenia count, Ivan, cut off from the main country founded the Kingdom of Great Carniola. THE SAXON KINGDOM OF WESSEX
Arric, Anglo-Saxon King
DIPLOMACY: Brabant(c)
Arric called for a new offensive against the Lorraine Vater and his Burgundian puppets. A great mass conscription ensued so that a fleet could be built at Penzance. Prince Arstaed took command of this navy. These plus some troops congregated at Connaught along with Mom's navy and siege. The troops were later dumped on the safe shore of Normandy so they could conquer land. The 33 English and 20 Scottish warships plus 21 transports sailed around the English Channel to the North Sea then up the Rhine. Along Lorraine's river bank the 50 hated Papal battleboats were found, docked on a wharf. These were easily destroyed for the crews were at the dock taverns drunk. With the threat destroyed, Lorraine's port was blockaded.
Walter with 6000 land troops (all his ships could carry) plus 13,000 Connaught fighters and riders plus 50 Matriarchy catapults easily occupied Ile de France. Ponthieu had to be left pacified-tributary, lacking national troops. The expedition stopped in Brabant and had some lemonade. The Charks were late coming to Lorraine, but they weren't Christian so what did you expect?

THE GERMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Purity III, Bishop of Aachen, Holy Father of Christendom
Fear of the Heathen Horde distracted the Aachen Papacy from the Schism. The Schismatics used this opportunity to destroy the Nordligs, invade Burgundy and wipe out the fleet while it was helpless at port. Purity was in Thuringia building monasteries. No cardinal was available to do anything constructive beside that. The Cherks arrived to Hesse, sacked Munich am Rhein and then enslaved all who lived there. Aix la Chapelle grew to 7 Gpv.
