THE MINOMOTO SHOGUNATE
Tenno Shilohata, Emperor of Jihpen
Minomoto no Gatahaku, Shogun
DIPLOMACY: Hokkaido(ea)
The Nihon army patrolled around Okinawa in case those uncultured swine dare show up. Chingata had a coughing fit and had to be killed for the seizure to stop. Gatahaku became the new Shogun.

THE MAGADANNAM
Wulamak, Overlord of Hai Ochostk, Protector of the Iceman, Harvester of Cute, Furry Animals
DIPLOMACY: none
As the old Annam people intermingled with the local population, they became acclimatized to their icy surroundings. They lived in ice huts and ate lots of fish, and they would go on long whale hunting expeditions. So their culture became seafaring, and I upped the imperial size. To celebrate the change, Komiskoi was colonized to (0/7) by Zoroastrians in big fur coats. Maukhuat died leaving no sons, his sister, Wulumak became the queen. Malashundo was lost at sea.

THE TUNGUS KINGDOM OF PO-HAI
Mau Sing, King of Parhae
DIPLOMACY: Sikhote(fa), Shangtu(t)
A stirring in the population drove the Buddhist minority out of Suifenhe. They scattered to Mantap, Mudan and Sikhote. The university was removed from Jenkyi and was placed in Sunchua which was renamed 'No' in honor of the move. Despite it all the university lost much of its prestige and folks called the Anshan port 'Sunchua-No'. Minister Yalang then went to Kaifeng on an important mission. Shangtu agreed to pay trbute when Yu told them their capital, Lin-Huang, would be restored.

THE HOU LIANG ZHONGDI
Lei Qui, Bing Di, Emperor of the Middle Kingdom
DIPLOMACY: none
>wham-bam-bam-bam<>wham-bam-bam-bam<
"Your greatness, there's a barbarian outside the city banging a wooden bowl!"
"What in Heaven's name does the beggar want?"
"He wants our food. Says he's willing to work for it."
"Kill him. I will not be disturbed."
And thus the Yen Di refused the Po Hai request for food. The Liang had better things to worry about such as Tang expansionism and urban planning. Wuhan, Xiu Shiu, Rugao and Guangdi each got land cleared for the building of new houses. The venerable Zhin-Ri died at the end of 1055. He was 100. Men were moved to Koguyro so that when the region rebelled it would have a decent army to defend itself with.

THE DA TANG EMPIRE
Fuang-Qu "Jong Zong", 29th Tang Ruler, Emperor of the Middle Kingdom
DIPLOMACY: Tungchuan(c), Jehol(nt)
Minister Pie made a big deal on his 'crime crackdown' program. At the head of a army of 25,000 cops, he marched to a suspected cheeseshop (cheese was illegal in Tang China). As he was about to make the bust, a crazed basket head fighter jumped from the shadows, knifed him and ripped off that medallion that hung from Pie's neck. The assassin made his escape. Pie survived the attack but was bedridden for the remainder of his life. He died in 1055 at the age of 76. The cheese crime cartel was given a break for the time being.
The Chang Wang Emperor died in 1055 himself. A new age came to be when Fuang-Qu became the Jong Zong. A postal road has been built going from Changan to Hsiang in Lichou to Chiangling in Chinghu. Kwangte gained the port city of Hagen.

THE SERENE PALACE OF THE GREATER WHEEL
Cho, Bodhisattva of Chan Mahayana
Yan Setui, Grand Abbot of Holy Chiangling
DIPLOMACY: none
"250 dollars..."
"Is there a P?"
BZZZZ!!!
"Sorry, there is no P."
Yan Setui completed the building of an abbey in Tungchuan while his beautiful nun assistant Va-Na smiled, waved and winked at those spinning the Wheel. There were no good contestants in Lanchou nor Shensi.

FOI GUO
Foi Biaxiu
DIPLOMACY: Lingnan(nt)
Lacking a prince when Muang Jung died, the nation settled on his young daughter Biaxiu to become the Queen. The court found for her a Nanhan consort so that a second house of Foi can be perpetuated. The port of Maikung was founded in Lingnan.

THE KAMBUJADESA OF LOWAN
Jayavarman VI, Emperor of Khmer
DIPLOMACY: none
"Bring me a commoner woman to marry so that I can dilute our royal blood."
"Y-yes your highness."
They brought before him Indira, a daughter of the leading Lowan merchant family. Her gauche tastes for flashy objects made Jay's knees knock. After she became the queen, she brought her shrewness for trade long since lost during the Angkor crisis. Angkor was expanded to 2 Gpv, its scars were slowly being smoothed over.

THE COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE OF SRIVIJAYA
Sri Suryanarayana II, CEO of Srivijaya, Inc.
DIPLOMACY: none
There would be yet another expedition to do in those pesky Yampi scum for Suryanavarman was jealous that his internet account wasn't as cool as theirs. So ol' Rauta and his 40 ships were at it again and he picked up Varulu Yata too. By 1052, they returned to Yampi and launched another amphibious warparty to the beach. Sure, the Srivijayans brought more men to the fiesta (14,500 Malay javalineers and 5000 Mon condotieri) but the 5000 Yampi boomerangers had fortified their high ground and a nasty monsoon storm had just blown in. Panic set in as the heavy rain fell and the Srivijayans ran for their ships leaving their dead behind them and the slain Varulu Yata. They fled back to Kediri and the soldiers were shamed. Some suggested that if at least one cavalry unit was brought to the battle none of this would have happened and both Yampi and Timor would have been occupied.

THE RAJPUT KINGDOM OF GWALIOR
Ranga Sujaimul, Rajput Raja
DIPLOMACY: Tirhut(ea)
A lack of focus in the diplomatic efforts (and no bribes of sea bass) didn't gain much ground in Maghada nor with the King of Bihar. There is that religion difference in the way. Ranga Adhira expired in 1055. His son, Sujaimul, became the new king. The ten tribes want to be resettled.

THE HIDDEN KINGDOM OF KASHMIR

THE GHUZZ TURKS
Koshul, Khan of the Ghuzz
DIPLOMACY: Al Hasa(aw)
Because the Caliph declared that Al Hasa must be the secret hideout of a mystery cult (because there are still Qarmatians there), the Ghuzz were appointed to slaughter the lot of them for their heresy. The idea of regional genocide led to a rising of 15,000 cavalry against Koshul's tribal forces of 27,000. The Al Hasans were put down but at the cost of 5500 Ghuzz lives. The population itself rose in anger and drove the Ghuzz away. They returned to their usual Dulaym stomping grounds.

THE BLACK HORDE (Karakhanids)
Kasab, Khatun of Kara-Khan, Yabghu of the Western Horde
DIPLOMACY: Ilhand horde(a)
The Black Turks moved to Ishikotrau and made sure an alliance with the Ilhand was drawn. Since Kasab forgot the way to Khokhand, the horde didn't move. Her son, Qarbu, seemed capable of ruling the horde on his own now.

THE YELLOW HORDE OF ILI (Sarkhagi)
King Kheres was decapitated by a flying cleaver. The loss of their leader threw the Yellow Horde into disarray. Also there were some desertion so there were 43.500 nomads left, though 5000 mercenary chargers were hired to help out. Then 11,500 Buyid knights plus 5000 mercenary chargers (the other half of them) atacked both the Sarkhagi -AND- the region itself (tsk, tsk). So Al Hafiz and his 9000 knights came to the rescue and helped the Yellow Horde repulse the Buyids. For his intervention, the hordesmen have converted to Sunni Muslim and were absorbed into Kumis' army.

THE EMIRAT OF SAMOLAH
Al Hafiz
DIPLOMACY: Kumis(homeland), Sarkhagi Host(absorbed), Dasht Kavir(nt)
Nominally loyal to the Baghdad Caliph and Sunni Muslim to boot, Al Hafiz now leads a great army fo 47,500 horsemen. Al Hafiz's homeland is Kumis and his capital is Samolah. Kumis became Sunni Muslim to take Al Hafiz's lead and to defy the Buyids.

THE BLUE HORDE: Kökohul
Jawziki
DIPLOMACY: none
Jawziki rested his host at Uigur. For that he was seen as a dweeb. Don't miss the due date!

THE CHERKASSY HORDE (Xi Xia, Tavoc, Tangut, Jark, Jerque, Chark)
Jehum, Khagan of the Steppe Peoples
DIPLOMACY: Seljuks(a), Kipchaks(a), Tuvac(a)
The Great Jehum plunderer of continents departed Europe with the blessing of the Magyars. The 192,000 Tanguts, 5000 Cumani and 5000 Dzungari were escorted by 16,000 Turkic cavalry and 11,000 Pechneg infantry in the Levedia. Finally into the Siberian steppe, they attracted three junior hordes into their camp - the Tucac, the Kipchak and the Seljuk. After passage through the dreary Jungarian woods, the verdant plains of Nainman were a welcome sight for the Tanguts. There was plenty of goat beer for all to drink.

THE SAMANID EMIRAT OF BUKHARA
Ibrahim, Emir of Bukhara
DIPLOMACY: Khuttal(nt)
With only 7500 cavalry and 7500 infantry, Ibrahim took on the wavering Uzbek who placed on the field 14,000 cavalry for Ibrahim had plans to colonize the region with loyalists. Both sides were equal and fought until each camp had 3500 man. A truce was called and Ibrahim withdrew to Bactria. A fortress was built in Kuhistan.

ARRAN EMIRAT
Ab'ul Sharif
DIPLOMACY: Shirvan(f)
Baku grew to 2 Gpv and the Emir watched. El Burz and Shirvan finally saw the might.

BUYID EMIRAT OF SHIRAZ
Sa'id bin Mohammad al Buya
DIPLOMACY: none
"Since we lost all our cavalry against them last time, I think you should go back and try it again."
"But sir...the danger."
"Ha! No worries. I have my spies at work already. You just do what you're told and you be rich and famous like I am."
Ahmed Mohammad and Badri gathered their army of 11,500 which was augmented with half of the mercenaries (the other half were hired by the Sarkhagi) and attacked both the flailing Sarkhagi army and the native Kumisin. Either could have been defeated if attacked separately but the Sultan wanted both to fall in one battle to prove to the entire world the power of Buyid arms. But having lost their entire force in battle again, the Buyids had egg on their face and lost arete. Related to this (perhaps) the young men have become restless and engaged in act of civil disruption.

THE ABBASID CALIPHAT (Dar al Islam)
Al Mutawakkil II, Kalifat Rasul Allah, Commander of the Faithful
DIPLOMACY: Dulaym(nt)
Mutawakkil theorizied that the Qarmatian cult did not die out over a century ago and still plots evil deeds in Al Hasa. He told the Ghuzz to do something about that - but it only earned the undying hatred of the Al Hasans. Only 21,000 Ghuzz came back from the trip to graze in Dulaym once more. Lady Tuwaske was told to align herself and her Shorshade horde to the Ghuzz but she refused and left Baghdad. The Shorshade settled around the Ural Mountain (the Arab tribe given to the Shorshade settled in Kulsary turning the region to Sunni Muslim). Otherwise the land was peaceful and devoid of strife. Al Mustad in Arbiliq was rebuilt.

THE KARIMID SULTANATE OF ALEPPO
Sirdar, Sultan of Aleppo
DIPLOMACY: Palmyra(a)
Sirdar threw away his paperwork to smooze with the Palmyrans. It did make for a better alliance but communication to the fringes became chancy. A tribute of 15gp was sent to the non-Shi'a Caliph. A Yemen leader denounced the Antioch Sultan in Misr. He got away before the police could catch him.

THE ZAIDI EMIRAT of DANAKIL
Ar Rakdad, Guardian of the Mandab Straits
DIPLOMACY: Aden(ea), Shoa(ea)
After traveling all over Arabia, Jawwad grew old, fell sick and died. He left a minor son in the hand of his vizier in Danakil. No ships came out of Misr. The Shoans complained of Nubian ill-treatment, but they're afro pagans who care what heathens thinks of infidels?

THE KHAIRID EMIRAT OF EGYPT
Ibn Mohammad Al Khair, Emir of Egypt
DIPLOMACY: Barqa(t)
Ibn Mohammad and his 20,000 knights slave raided Aswan and captured 1500 men. They tried again in Ghebal Gharib but only got the population mad. 7000 horsemen attacked the Khairid Governor. These were wiped out but did cause the Aswan captives to escape. Returning empty handed and in low spirits, Ibn Mohammad rested his troops in Iksandr for a week before he headed off toe Barqa for some carousing. The Emir found a wife there and the Khairids defended Egypt for the rest of the turn. Al Iksandr blossumed to 4 Gpv and rivals any of the large cities of the Mediterranean.

The 12,500 cavaliers and 600 swords and shieldmen rushed south to handle the emergency. Since the Spanish wanted to force tribute (instead of regular pacification), 12,000 civic and regional troops showed up to assist Gerard any way they could. Suprized, the Castillians were trounced by these numbers and fled. All 6000 swords and shieldmen were lost in the battle. There had been rumblings of unrest in Languedoc but with Gerard on top of them, nothing happened.

THE VISIGOTHIC KINGDOM OF CASTILLE
Isidore II
DIPLOMACY: Armagnac(ea)
Cascadero let the great general Feliz Rastanmeadera lead all the knights to attack the Burgudians while the going was good. He sought to force tribute from Languedoc and grab some glory. But the Burgundians had a reaction army which came to Languedoc's rescue. If Rastanmadera hadn't been so swell headed and simply pacified Languedoc, he could have beaten that reaction army at least (and pick off any local troops if he had to later). He escpaed with 3000 brave survivors to Armagnac.
