THE AKA'MURRID EMIRATE OF FULANI
Mohammad II, Emir of the Fulani, The Philosopher-King of the Sahel

     Mohammed expanded 5 cities in the realm and worked with the Andalusians to complete the royal road into Takrur. He initiated a new road into Kebbi and a bridge over the Lower Niger into Oyo. Several of the Lords of Fulani received their orders, apparently to redo exactly what they did before. They were not pleased. The royal family grew larger, as Mohammed sired another daughter and finally two sons.
     Technology from the Krakas Empire helped the Emirate achieve Renaissance.

THE MARWAN EMIRATE OF BENITOGO

     Marwan installed new facilities in Accra and Lome. Oduduwa was told to rule the Emirate. Since he was merely Prince, he seriously gave thought to claiming the throne and doing just that, but he held his army in check.

THE BANTU KINGS OF OKOYO
Ekwune, Da King of Okoyo

     Ekwune granted the region of Teke tributary status to the Hawala as well as sending them three thousand light infantry. The road to Lui was completed, but Uige required more men to finish the task of cultivation. To continue the royal line of Bantu Kings, Ekwune decided that Efusu's daughter Akiiki should marry Tubuhwaire of Uige, making the region friendly and giving the kingdom a new young royal line.
     Further changes were made when Ekwune commanded that the capital be moved from Kikongo to the booming city of Boma on the coast of Kongo. He ruled from there while the instruments of government were transported across Vili.

THE KALID EMIRATE OF THE CAPE

     Utumwa sent messages to the Aethiopians offering more of the Almoravid technologies.

     Jol improved the quality of his siege engineers and watched the completion of his cultivation projects in Kilwa, Mahabo, Mapungubwe, Mobassa, and Transkei. Nguni, Ruvama, and Zambia would have been completed if he were able to allocate more labor.

THE KRAKAS EMPIRE OF AETHIOPIA

     Pelam improved the quality of his siege engineers and cavalry. He sent off more than half of his lieutenants to work with Ajari on diplomacy with great success.
     Eskalon, Prince of Massawa, was invited to Meroe where he was married to Biju, Pelam's sister, with great pomp and circumstance. After the long celebration and a few weeks to get acquainted with his wife, Eskalon headed up the important military expedition to the west to squash the revolts out there. Taking along Temban to assist with running the army, the duo went to repay Bornu for their audacity. As Festro was sent back in a case, so the leader of the revolt would be nailed up as a public display to those who would defy Aethiopia with violence.
     Eskalon continued on to Ikego, where, after it was pacified his fifteen thousand men killed all who would not give up their pagan ways. Eskalon needed to quickly return to Daza. As a result, the region reverted to Paganism and now thoroughly hate the Krakas, despite the recent cultivation projects.
     The trade routes to the Secret Empire of the Burning Sword, as Shirki al Bahri al Basra, the Ghorid Sultanate of Afghanistan, and the Chalukya Empire of Banavasi were all turned over to the Republic of Portale D'Oro.

North Africa

THE SULTANATE of IEST
Imad ibn Khalid, Sultan of Mahidia
Diplomacy: As Sidrah(ea) Caquetio(t)
     Imad improved the art of war at sea and under wall, as well as expanding the far reaching possibilities of his merchant class. Imad wished to initiate trade with several American nations, but didn't free up space in his home port for the new routes. Not taking the time to intervene in mercantile affaires, the shipping that he wanted on the routes didn't move from their already lucrative business of trade within the Sultanate itself.
     Prince Bashir's last act was to bring As Sidrah closer to the fold. Abu Said took a few warships and sailed to the Leeward Sea. His orders were to explore the North Atlantic Current. He continued north to Bermuda, charting the currents off of its sunny shores. He ventured north in 1539, returning with only a third of his forces later the following year having learned nothing.

THE ALMORAVID EMIRATE of ANDALUSIA
Hahziz, Emir as Sevilla

     Hahziz increased his diplomatic and assassin corps as well as extending the reach of his merchants further than any other nation in the known world. The naval observatory has progressed nicely. Benitogo was granted permission to build a conduit city on the Timris coast.
     Sources close to Hahziz have learned that a search for the heir of Saladin has turned up fruitless. Old and childless, Hahziz had put out feelers, suggesting that should al Saladin step forward, he would grant him the position of Prince of the Realm, essentially heir of the Almoravid Emirate, but only if he publicly denounced his father as a heretic. Specifically an eater of pork, and other vile deeds! Also, he must confirm that the overthrow of his father was justified because he was unfair in the eyes of Allah to lead the nation. And to confirm his belief that Mohammed is the true disciple of the one God, Allah. Several rumors flew across the Iberian plain that the memory of Saladin was never that he was unfair or ever an eater of pork; although other rumors that Hahziz himself was a vile man did circulate, and a desire for the old dynasty still existed...
     Nazar, noted as not being one of the best generals Hahziz has ever seen, was charged with the duties of wrestling the oversized garrisons located throughout the Emirate, bringing them to Sevilla. It took him nearly five times longer to load the twenty-five thousand men into boats at Dokhla in preparation to sail. He finally arrived at the end of 1540. Having taken so long just to get to the capital, his orders to ferry labor to the African coast would have to wait until the following spring. As a result walls were not built on Casablanca, the port city of Mbour could not be built, and the Saharan-Loop could not be completed, even though the Fulani provided most of the labor.

     Vic poured a ton of money into various internal investments, most of which paid off. Then he sent his men out to grow the company. Ogatti died after his unsuccessful bid in Bashir and the allied state of Cyprus began expanding it's domain. The Canaries were reduced to mere non-paying tributaries.
     The merchant attempted to purchase the Northern European and Mediterranean naval units, to be brought into official employment as household units of the Hawala. The Northern European transports simply refused and left the unit, while the entire Mediterranean group threw out their brokerage.
     Men were heard sniffing around Acre, wanting to meet with and give money to any member of WHOMPCO who would be willing to *cough* cooperate and provide information...

THE ALMORAVID EMIRATE of IRELAND

THE SULTANATE OF INGILTARRA

     The Dharr spent a couple years in the Sussex countryside while his men, with the assistance of the Northern European mercenary Bonoque de Samanigo campaigned against the Anglians. The mercenaries were quite expensive, but most of the cost was defrayed by rich friends and in particular an unnamed Roman Catholic nation. Jaraah bin Zulfaqar found a wife for Ralif in Wessex named Faith, as in Faithful to Allah.
     At Hull in Northumbria, Abass Nashat blockaded the port while Akil al Ferran crushed the ally of the Anglians. A Pro-Catholic agenda was followed, tolerant of the Roman Catholic Churches in Northumbria and Anglia.
     After ensuring that Wessex was free of Anglians, the army pacified Winchester easily in 1538. It marched north into Mercia, easily securing tribute. Finally in 1539 the army marched on Anglia itself. The Ingil forces had more than five thousand men and horse with close to that much supporting siege engineers and munitions. [See Anglia]

THE KINGDOM OF ANGLIA

     Kierek, garrison in Wessex, found his men had elected a new commander. With Kierek dead, the thousand cavalry unit rode north along the postal road into Mercia, outrunning the advancing Ingiltarrans. Beaucleric was unable to extract more money from the starving people of Hull and Ipswich, so he was forced to disband even more of his forces. Thousands of transports and expensive heavy guns were let go.
     Anglia had merely less than five thousand men, mostly in the form of heavy gun corps, which would prove useless without the support of more infantry to carry the brunt of the fighting. Since Beaucleric had built no walls the battle for Anglia and Ipswich would be fought on the fields and in the streets. In a short battle, the Kingdom of Anglia fell.

THE NORMAN EMPIRE OF SAXONIA
Phillip, King of the Saxons and of the Normans, Count of Blois
Diplomacy: Duchy of Perigord(F)
     Phillip released Aquitaine and Bergerac, with the understanding that the Duchy would accept peace and a restoration of their vassal ties. He left his diplomats in Carmaux and rode north into Orleans and then into Lyonnaise, which he had just purchased from the Papacy for a barrel of wine. With his lieutenant Tancred and about twenty thousand men, cannon and ballonscots, he marched on Provence. After a short battle proving that he could easily best the Italians, he returned to Ile de France.
     Two books were published by the Norman government; "The Fall of the Roman Republic", to help explain the benefits of monarchal rule vis a vis republicans. Most of it focused on the horrors of Republicanism, such as the 'Proscriptions of Rome', the 'Civil Wars', and the benefits of the Pax Romana brought by Augustus, who established the Roman Empire and ensured peace, tranquility, and prosperity for 200 years through his grip on power. It quickly became required reading in government funded schools and universities.
     The other book was titled "The History of the Saxonian Emperors", detailing the struggles of the Normans in Europe from their origins in Scandinavia, to their conquests in England and France. It emphasized the heroic nature of their rule, the benefits that accrued to Saxonia when a strong monarch ruled, and the disasters that befell when these monarchs allowed their rule to falter.
     Prior to absorbing Perigord's government, Saxonia itself was already feeling some of the effects of low infrastructure. Phillip expanded the bureaucracy, but that didn't stop Tours and Castile from degrading. Aragon revolted.

     Dmitri supported all of his projects seeing the royal road to Kaluga completed. He purchased grain from the Duchy of Cracow offsetting the effects of his bad harvest and set all of his internal fleets to the task of harvesting food from the Baltic Sea. Piotr was sent to Kama Bolgar to become its new governor.

THE ROMAN EMPIRE - Phormion Dynasty

     Stavros spent gobs of money increasing the infrastructure, warship and cavalry quality, developed his own balloon scouts, and various improvements in his espionage group.
     Prince Sebastos along with Admiral Nauteus sailed north to Gronland and then south along the American coastline to reach Querrandi south of Tupinamba in 1540. Here they split up, with Nauteus continuing on to Minuane. Both regions were colonized, with the ports of Delphi and Miletus built. Paphlagonia was converted to Eastern Orthodox.

THE DAR AL ISLAM EMIRATE

     Hassan withdrew his claim to Hahmar, albeit keeping Najaf, after selling his monopolies in Camels and Falcons to the SBB. Jamal died prior to his diplomatic attempts in Najaf. Zayd Al-Kayr, a mediocre diplomat at best, was killed by the Dulaym. The formidable city of Acre captured Barakah, demanding a ransom for his release.
     The barely recognizable body of a man was found outside of Acre in Lebanon. He had apparently been beaten to death with a lead pipe, found in a pool of blood nearby. Broken legs, smashed in face, and an empty spot where his brain used to be...

THE SECRET EMPIRE OF THE BURNING SWORD

     Hammad solved his famine problems with shipments of grain from the Harayuk Indians, this time saving quite a bit of it and building a small fishing fleet. A new postal road from Khuzestan north into Arbiliq was constructed and the bridges over the Tigris and Euphrates were repaired.

Technology in the form of a couple light guns was sold to the Ghorid Sultanate. Iesti seemed to have forgotten all about their deal. Abdulla returned home in 1540 to sire another boy. First Trader Behram Noir spent some time in Najaf working out some preferential trade treatment with the Dar al Islam.

THE BOGAZGOL KHANATE

     Bogz died in 1538. Since there wasn't much to the nation, there wasn't much to lose in the dynastic failure that occurred next. Zargan I took command of the forces, slaying six year old Bogz II at the same time. He restyled the government as a Khanate.

THE BASSO SULTANATE OF KUMIS

     Jango claimed the throne at Rayy, directing old trade routes of the Ghorid his direction.

THE GHORID SULTANATE OF AFGHANISTAN
Abdel bin Kinobi, Sultan of Afghans
Diplomacy: None
     Omar rode back to Zabulistan, crossing the newly repaired bridge across the Indus into Turan. Other bridges were also completed in Afghanistan and Pathan. In Afghanistan, Abdel bin Kenobi married Omar's daughter, then joined Jabbah Ja, taking thirty-five hundred men east into Kashmir to join Ufandin. In February of 1539 Omar II died.
     Andy, who had just returned from Chah Bahar with the new light gun corps, was in the capital alone with the entire army of some seventeen thousand men. He proclaimed himself Sultan. Jabbah Ja had designs on the thrown as well, but Ufandin was quite capable of dealing this, catching the schemer. Jango Basso also rebelled, vowing to take the capital!
     Badakshan, Dasht Margo, Ghur, Registan, and Turan revolted out of hand. The stress of the situation also lead Afghanistan and Kabul, Mizani, Khokhand and Tashkent, Khurasen and Nishapur, Pamir, Herat, Shadad, the port of Antizani, and Tukharistan to revolt as well. With the rebellions, this left Abdel bin Kenobi with no choice but to ride west to come at Ghazni from Seistan.
     By October, Abdel was in Kalai-mor. Finally in April of 1540 Andy relinquished control of the throne to Abdel bin Kinobi. Most of Ghorid's trade is now hampered by the rebellions. Surprisingly, nothing else revolted from Abdel's short command radius.

THE HARAYUK RAJPUT EMPIRE

     Rupika increased the reach of Kaunaj, as well as upgrading naval, missionary, and assassin capabilities. Captains took on new technology to speed their ships. Grain was bundled and traded to the Burning Sword for a small profit.
     In 1539, Admiral Ydrisi hit the forested beaches of Yaralone on the continent of Australia. The natives were stunned to see the boom-sticks and were easily pacified. Ydrisi built the port of Karratha on its shore.
     Alamara met up with Ydrisi on Banka taking on a fleet loaded with colonists and laborers. He ordered the construction of Koba and then sailed on to Kepeluan. Finding it inhabited, he sailed on to Irian, which had far fewer people. He placed a small garrison, ordered the construction of the port of Sorong, and then sailed for the rumored islands of Palau.
     With the assistance of Lavva Tonin, Alamara was able to chart a course to Palau. Here they found a large contingent of Chinese intent on building the the port of Koror. They returned to Sorong at the end of 1540.

THE CHALUKYA EMPIRE OF BANAVASI

THE VIET VICEROYALTY OF MAKASSAR

     Missionaries received a boost and the Viceroy ignored the cultivation projects on Timor. Returning from Ambon, Zhen Ya spend a small amount of time attempting to calculate an accurate census, but it proved to be too difficult. His wife gave birth to a daughter in 1540.
     Surivajaran sailed to Truk where he examined the logs of Twozer, who had died just before his voyage to Ponape was to begin - surely a bad omen. Fearless, Surivajaran headed into the sun rise. He founded the port city of Pohnpei.

IL SINDACATO GRANDE ORIENTALE COMMÉRCIO (Republic of Portale D'Oro)

     The Don saw increases in most of the expected investments while he spend the years in Aseb on an unsuccessful mission. His son Sebastian faired no better, not sure if he found his way to Guam or not. He sailed on to Kwanti in 1540.
     Amicis and Salamar landed at Socotra and build the city of West Port, although Amicis would not live to see it's completion. While Dimitri was successful in the Nubian city of Dongola, the agent couldn't be maintained due to the great distance to the nearest Sindacato holding at Aseb.
     An unknown general failed to attack the Nicobars.

THE GATOTKACA OF ANGORA

     Yangon was cut down mercilessly in the dark of night. Arghun, Khan of Angora, became the new Sengkuni.

THE KINGDOM OF TONGKING

     Phe Tien completed the royal road out of the misty mountains of Padishan and initiated agricultural projects in Gouangxi and Lampang. Gongli and Shau Tachi also were favored with the attentions of the monarchy.
     Prince PhoTien and General Bin Hait removed the garrisons from Korat, Monphu, Kayah, and Salween. Only Monphu revolted. PhoTien returned to the area where he failed to sway the beliefs of the Dvaravati nobility.

China

THE HIDDEN DRAGON OF CHEKIANG
Quan Yimei, Celestial Empress of Chekiang
Diplomacy: None
     Quan spent huge sums of gold on her military, seeing improvements in her infantry, war fleets, as well as her far reaching anchor and trade range. She still relied on Il Sindacato for more than fifteen percent of her trade revenue. A royal road stretching down the Irrawaddy to Rangoon was completed in 1539. Dukou was expanded greatly.
     Suma Chien watched the colonists stream into Prome in 1538 while Huang Go sat in Poppy Blossum. Before the year was up, he put to sea in the Chekiangnese Treasure Fleet (CTF). The CTF was comprised of more than 350 galleons and nearly 150 elite escorts. The cargo is rumored to be more than fifty thousand men, horse, and guns. Suma Chien was joined by Chulalongkorn and Wang An.
     The Chekiangnese Treasure Fleet sailed west to attack the Maldives. Overwhelming forces subjugated the populace. Hundreds of Mahayana colonists settled in the Sunni city of in Omarra.
     Li Gong sailed south to Palau where he left a sizable garrison to watch over the construction of Koror. He explored east towards Truk with the assistance of Xiao Wang. With some difficulty, he managed to reach Truk in 1539. He took on provisions from the Makassar and sailed east again to Ponape. No trouble on their pleasant voyage to Ponape, they continued on to the fabled islands of Kwajalein. By the end of 1540, the explorers returned to Koror in Palau with fewer ships and men, but new maps of the route between the Truk and Ponape isles.
     Colonists were killed in Prome when the pacified region rose up in revolt against the invaders. Similar revolts took place in Sagaing, Poppy Blossom, Elephant Flats, overflowing into Manipur as well.
     Huang Go met his demise as his men mutinied from his ineffectual leadership as the population of Sagaing and Poppy Blossom were dealing heavy damage. Near the headwaters of the Irrawaddy, the mutinied army left the fleet to the rebels as they fled to Bamboo Grove. The fleet of 88 warships were captured and burned to the waterline.
     At Rangoon, colonists destined for Pendash hid where they could while the region of Prome revolted. The revolution soon spread through the unwalled city as the garrison could not withstand the onslaught. Thousands of Chekiang were slaughtered.

THE CIAO ZHONG CHINESE EMPIRE
Tien Pi Gou, The True, King of the Northern Prefectures

     The Emperor saw improvements in the infantry, fleet techniques, even the number of missionaries willing to serve. He commanded that several regions should receive improvements and opened the vaults to pay for them even. His concubines received his attentions before his generals pulled him away to teach him more of the art of war.
     Kaifeng, the most populace city in the world at more than eight hundred thousand people, was held by an eight hundred man light infantry garrison. Li Wen-Yao and Lord Gavin added another two thousand men then continued back to Hopei where they had plans up north.
     Loyal colonists streamed into the city while the garrison ensured their protection as the city was stratified into several castes. The city erupted in violence as the rebels had an army roughly equal in size. None of the colonists were spared. The revolution spread into the nearby fields of Honan where the paltry garrison of six hundred men could not crush the revolt.
     Tien Pi along with general Lo Pan Wunao and nearly forty thousand men rode north into Lang Shan. Here the Chinese gave no quarter as the region was quickly pacified. The army next rode into the desert of Ordos and Ningsia, giving similar treatment to each.
     Lao Che Wunao with lieutenant Dinh-Rin, took thirty five hundred men to Chinao where he loaded colonists and supplies and and sailed south. In 1539 he reached the jungle shores of Sabah southwest of the Sulu Sea. Outnumbering the cannibals two to one, Lao pacified the region. He then built Susui, a city deep in the interior.
     Lo Pan Wonao was instructed to administrate far from the capital of Chang'An. Tien soon learned that this might not have been a wise move.
     Li Wen-Yao and Lord Gavin took more than fourteen thousand men north into Mudan. They attacked the defenders forcing them into the city of Quayang where they continued the fight for the unwalled city. They took very few losses as both the city and region were pacified completely.

     The Empress saw improvement in warship and siege quality, as well as intelligence. Eight cities were permitted to increase in size and improvements were built in Suifenhe and Sikhote. Missionaries were unsuccessful on the continent.
     Roiji, royal princes of Nihon, was married to Lord Tiroha in a lavish affair, with all the pomp and circumstance appropriate. The Empress gave the couple a substantial dowry. Prince Tiroha then sailed off to Suifenhe to conduct diplomacy on behalf of the Empire. He could not get the pagans to budge beyond economic allied status.

     Diplomacy was the name of the game in the Empire of the Storm. Gold was shelled out all over the islands. Thunderhead married a Waverider maiden in 1538. Haharua joined with Sharkeel in Taranaki to work with the people of Cloud Bearer. Sharkeel died in 1539, so Haharua continued the diplomacy, marrying a tanned beauty.
     At the end of 1540, Thunderhead died. Haharua returned to Te Ika A Maui as fast as he could to take command of the fleet. Nothing broke away in the ensuing dynastic failure.

     Anakin felt the tremors from the earthquake that leveled the capital of the Confederation from his bivouac in Sauk. He cut his mission short to return and lend a hand in the reconstruction.

THE ADENA EMPIRE

     Pepin II stayed in Adena to govern, sending his diplomats to Atapaka, trying to get them to consider joining the Empire. Michigamea was cultivated completely while Pepin commanded that all feudal obligations were unnecessary. Caddo was dropped completely. Peppin III came of age in 1540.

BONNY KINGDOM OF MERCAIN

     King Angus struggled with the task of ruling his great Kingdom. He knew that Wyandot would be slipping in status, but saw that its cultivation project was coming along. The solution to his problems came with the trade goods from the Roman Empire. His people learned about the great republic of Rome and became inflamed with the desire for self-representation. He jumped at the change to lessen his workload and make his people happy once more and helped them to create a simple constitution.
     Lord Niarl was assigned the task of administrating, where he took over from Lord Iretus. It turned out that he wasn't as good an administrator as Iretus, and so the nation suffered.

THE OAXACA EMPIRE
