Turn #86
Industrial Stage One: Renaissance
1504 Anno Domini
Next Turn=92s Orders Due: Friday, October 24, =
1997.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I moved!!! Please note the new address and phone number. =

I apologize for the lateness of this turn that my change of =

address caused. =

I=92m posting newsfaxs at two sites. See below.
I=92ve decided to not use the Convert Pagan Chief(CPC) rule. =

Thad didn=92t leave me any notes on it. If you tried to use it over the =
last =

two turns I converted them into DC orders.
Please identify your trade partners. Thad put some wierd =

names on you trade routes. I need to know who is who.
Please let me know about special megalithic constructs. =

What, when, and how big.
I=92m experimenting with the HC order. I was given no rules for =

it so I=92ve had to come up with my own. I increased the percentage =

chance by about 20% from last turn, but I=92m still not satisfied with th=
e =

results I=92ve been getting.
I really appreciate the support and patience you all have given =

me. I=92ll try my best to live up to it.
We are going to 3 year turns at turn 100.
I had no say on what credit was put into you LX accounts. If =

Thad was suppose to do something that isn=92t reflected in your account =

balance, you need to take it up with him.
As user friendly as you can make your turns would be =

appreciated. If I can=92t read your handwriting or understand your order=
s, I =

will make my best guess as to want you mean or want.
A note on cheating: a certain amount of trust is important =

among the players and how they fill out their turns. If I feel someone i=
s =

cheating, I will not hesitate to remove them from the game.

The ARLES KINGDOM OF ITALIA(t8)
Rolfo of Provence, Rex Lagobardum

God, Pontiff of the Universal Church
DIPLOMACY: none =

RELIGIOUS SITES: Abbeys: Rolpho, Asturias, Bohemia, Austria, =

Bavaria, Swabia, Alsase
In 1502 Pope Innocent III, died in a Thaery jail cell. Initially =

this lead to a bit of civil unrest, but ultimately it made the Italian co=
ntrolled =

papacies diplomatic efforts a little easier. Late in 1503 Pope Sixtus V =

died in Wessex. The college of cardinals elected another Italian noble =

who took the name Sixtus VI. The Saxons took the opportunity of this =

transition to distance itself from the papacy.
Rolpho took the opportunity presented by the squabbling new =

world catholics to attempt to reclaim Ciboney after it=92s rebellion a =

generation ago. He sent Admiral Guarnual and General Cotto to do the =

job. Arriving in Ciboney they found the island undefended except for =

some minor fortifications in the northern fortress. The island was quick=
ly =

back into the hands of the Italians. Cotto stayed behind as Guarnual had=
 =

further orders.
The Adenans had obviously done a good job of selling the =

Europeans of the premise that they were being slowly subjugated by the =

Kornlanders. Guarnual hard orders to clear the Lower Snake River of =

blockaders. The Italians had 60 warships, with 10 being elite and the =

Kornland Admiral Breelant had 35 galleons in the blockade force. After =

the first days battle, in which both sides fought valiantly and took heav=
y =

loses, the Kornlanders knew they were outgunned. In spite of this they =

returned to battle and in the second day of fighting they were wiped out =

completely. Breelant was lost. Guarnual left the Lower Snake River =

with 44 warships ready to complete the final part of his assignment.
Guarnual was met at the shore of Kornland by King Augustin =

of Kornland in person with a force of arms that numbered 20,000 men. =

Guarnual thought better about trying to carry out the rest of his orders =

and sailed back to Ciboney.
Others of the Italian nobility, otherwise known as Cardinals, =

passed out large bribes to get abbeys built all over Europe. Many were =

more than happy to genuflect with one hand outstretched.
Some mulsims lead a daring jail break in the city of Genoa. =

They ecaped into the night never to be heard from again. Then again.
	Cotto died far from home.

Xenos to pummel them into submission. Wasting no time Xenos called =

for an assault on the heavily fortified capital of Alexia. The clash was=
 =

short, bloody and decisive. The city of Alexia was destroyed by greek =

fire. Atelkuzo was then pacified. Then Zaporozhie fell, leaving only th=
e =

city of Pereka as the last remnant of the Scythian regime. With 285 =

ships and 10,000 men, Xenos called for another assault, this time =

against Pereka=92s 100 foot ramparts. The assault was just as short, just=
 =

as decisive, but thankfully a little less bloody. Xenos was killed in th=
e =

The mission had problems establishing abbeys, mainly for =

lack of influence, but health problems were also a factor.

the Faith, Protector of Former Atakapa Lands
DIPLOMACY: none
Admiral Krolan was relieved of his duty from blockading the =

Lower Snake River by Breelant right about the same time as the Italians =

took back there old break away colony of Ciboney from King Augustin =

by force of arms. As Krolan sailed north he found a mysterious letter in=
 =

his cabin. After reading it he only became more resolute in his duty. =

Krolan surprised the Adenans with a raid on Wenro. The raids on Erie =

and Miami were canceled, but the raids on Scioto and Michigamea paid =

excellent dividends. Admiral Krolan was upset as he heard of the =

Italians incursions, =93I want a crack at them.=94
Breelant and his navy was destroyed by the same Italian =

admiral the captured Porto Edoaro.
King Augustin finally prevented the same navy from raiding =

the eastern coast. Geez, these Italians can get around.
Many Italians slipped out of Kornland and back to the islands =

robbing the Kornlanders of many valuable teachers. The effect was so =

great that by the end of 1503 the nation of Kornland had reverted to =

civilized status and the military lost much of the advantage it used to h=
old =

in the new world. Although this was a set back for the Kornlanders they =

were still able to institutionalize much of what the Italians brought to =

them in the last twenty years.
Augustin promoted his younger brother, Clement to princely =

status. Clement promptly died from excitement.
