Important News: I can now eMail your stat sheet to you, immediately after I post the newsfax onto the Web Page. If you would rather have your stat sheet eMailed to you rather than mailed, let me know. You can have your stats eMailed and your newfax regular mailed if you can't access the Web.

THE AKA'MURRID EMIRATE OF FULANI
Mohammad, Emir of the Fulani, The Philosopher-King of the Sahel
DIPLOMACY: Galam(ne), Gwari(t), Daza(ea), Bornu(ne)
The un-Muslim land of Galam confounded two Fulani leaders (Bekter and Ghadeg) by ignoring them. Both suggested a military conversion for all the missionaries that had been sent there were murdered. The Gwari were uncommonly co-operative with Lord Ahmu. Timbuktu and D'jenne expanded to 5 and 2 Gpv respectively. Tunatug and Sokoto grew then to 3 and 4 Gpv in order. Trade started with the small Leopards Kingdom.

THE SUPREMACY OF TOGO
Elembouko II, Supreme Oba of Togo
DIPLOMACY: none
Togonad forces: 14,500 infantry, 5000 sappers took back Togo which had a garrison of 13,000. These Leopardine troops were unprepared and were easily defeated.

THE LEOPARD KINGDOM
Shozaka II, King of Leopards
DIPLOMACY: none
The Leopards king, so intent on fighting the Bakong, didn't expect the Tog invasion.

THE BANTU KINGS OF KONGO
Zletinga, King of Ba-Congo
DIPLOMACY: none
The Bakongo people grumbled becasue they did not want to fight and die for the ungrateful Bini-landers. Fortunately Zletinga vacillated over what to do. The Moors sent trade ships from their new Bioko port city.

East Africa
Mercs: 10mi, 10mw

THE GREAT ZIMBABWE
Malachai, Chief of Zimbabwe, Holder of the Five Twin Jackal Chair
DIPLOMACY: Mahabo(ne), Sakalava(t)
Prince Malachai made personal ties in Sakalava to get the islanders to come back to the fold. Hwatay and Gar resorted to force against the ever rebellous Melela, Ruvama and Mombassa. Each were attacked and made to pay tribute. All three rebelled when Neshavam died in 1483. Hwatat and the troops pacified Mombassa at least. Shona was colonized to (1/5) by Jewish colonists. Xai Xai grew to 6 Gpv.

THE KRAKAS KINGDOM OF AETHIOPIA
Gobbu VI, Alem 'Elum, King of Aethiopia
DIPLOMACY: none
The time had come for Sidamo to be occupied. Caleb Jai, despite his mediocrity, overwhelmed and defeated the heathens in Sidamo and gunpointed them to Christian salvation. On the far side of Pizza Island, Jivas and 12,500 men disgourged from 50 warships to attack Merintha. Apparently Jivas was no better perepared for this assault than the last one he did. The natives killed about 8000 men and the rest fled to their boats and retreated in fear to Hafun. Jivas died of pepperoni rash. Pter got home from his long sea voyage. The desert continent he described was fantastic with flying lizards, jumping horses and amber secreting trees. Two more leaders: Naramatus and Heon took the Pteric vacation route. Both must have enjoyed themselves so much that they never came back.
Ras Hafun became cultivated. A royal road was built connecting Maureg in Scebeli to Mogadishu and its new port city Indavao.

THE SULTANATE OF IEST
Ahmed al Kaffiyin, Sultan of Mahidia
DIPLOMACY: Ghebal Gharib(ea), Madina(ea)
Halal and Mustafa with about 20,000 troops dealt with the Aswan colony harshly. These Christians who were left there were militarily converted. Prince Khalid sent a message from Hawran describing the wonders of the city of Araceta. The Sultan dispatched two more leaders to attempt convert the city and its king to Islam. The Jim (as he called himself) would not see the envoys but accepted the money and the bride (which was married to his second son).
The cities of Benghezi, Malega and Tunis grew. The Hajj Road was completed the last link from Hijaz to Mecca was finished. To celebrate lots of money was given to the poor. There was some pressure to call a Jihad against the manipulative Catholics. Ahmed wisely distanced himself from Saxon efforts to co-opt Islam.

THE ALMORAVID EMIRATE OF ANDALUSIA
Istafa (III) ibn Ruda, Emir as Sevilla
DIPLOMACY: Takrur(a), Senegal(f)
The continued Moorish support of the infidels in their ongoing wars against themselves began to sow bitterness amongst the local populace. Mosque mullahs in the villages denounced Istafa's actions as carnal and prodigal. The only way to truly help these backwards Franji would be to conquer them and teach them Islam, the only way of life. Adding insult to injury was word that the Saksonmaliq had included Istafa to be a member of the 'Order of the Holy Cross'. Now Istafa's faith was in question. It came to no suprise when after 700,000 dinars were sent to the Saksonmaliq, that riots broke out in Gambia, Jaen, Merrakesh and Salamanca destroying public works and killing tax collectors. Istafa's only response was to withdraw the navy from the English Channel.
A brave explorer was lost exploring that open ocean arrow beyond Hawran Island. A port city in Takrur (Katio) induced the locals to ally. The city also hastened the cultivation process (started by Almoravid ironically enough) so that Takrur became cultivated this turn.

THE NORMAN KINGDOM OF ENGLAND
Buford, King of England
DIPLOMACY: none
An accord was finally reached with the mainlanders and trade began with both the Saxonians and the Helveticans.

THE NORMAN KINGDOM OF SAXONIA -Red Faction
Henry IV, Excommunicate, King of the Saxons and of the Normans, Count of Blois
DIPLOMACY: Aquitaine(ne)
As the Danes and the slimy Greeks left the country, Henry IV decided to honor them with a huge edifice built in La Rochelle. It showed a cavalry charge led by a representation of the Byzantine Emperor Isaac II with an inscription that read, "The Light of this man's Shadow has cast away much of the Despair from what was an otherwise Needless and Wasteful Conflict. History will look upon Isaac II as a Man of Courage, Vision and Mercy and it will do so with much Fondness. Norman Saxonia will long remember Isaac II." Five times was this monument vandalized. The worst of it was that one of Isaac's eyes was gouged out and was replaced with an onion. Guards had to be posted to protect these statues.
The Danes left in good order but the Greeks were constantly ravaging the countryside. It was a good thing that they were going home. The city of Sete complained of the great damage done to them by these 'welcome foreigners'. They left finally in 1482. To the disgust of everyone, Henry IV then bestowed the Order of the Holy Cross to two Saracen Princes (along with the 4 Christian sovreigns: Javik of Dania, Geralt of Helvetica, Cristo of Italy and Gobbu the Abyssinian), Istafa of Seville and Ahmed of Mahida. Everyone high and low, now whispered subversive things about their supposed 'Christian' king. They whispered that Innocent III and Paul II were right about him. Henry IV was such an unpopular king. The common saying was that he wore his excommunication as if it was an award. Despite official efforts, Papal influence strengthened considerably. Saxon armies did strike back seizing Innocentine Church locations all over Saxonia and handed them to the Sixtians. After the collapse of the Sixtian Church, many of these became independent (In Lords terms, they simply vanished).
Bruges grew to 8 Gpv. Trade with England was started rewarding their non interferance in the Civil War.

THE ARLES KINGDOM OF ITALIA (replaces LIGURIA)
Rolfo of Provence, Rex Lagobardum
Sixtus V, Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Servant of the Servants of God, Supreme Pontiff on the Universal Church
DIPLOMACY: Sixtian Papacy(f)
With 24,000 cavalry, 69,500 infantry, 20 artillery, 7500 engineers, 15 mortars, 5000 condotteiri cavalry, 10,000 condotteiri infantry and 50 condotteiri guns, Crown Prince Rolfo of Provence, General Larid and Lessazndro Guehar took on the 21,000 infantry of Pope Innocent III. Innocent wasn't so populars in Latium anymore and his army was disspirited and had suffered from mass desertion. Plus the fact of Innocent's lack of generalships led to a lopsided victory in Latium. Rome's wall guard surrendered the city. The whole of Latium of Rome embraced the young Arles Prince Rolfo but Innocent III had vanished. Elsewhere thing were less rosy. Frist Pope Sixtus IV died in 1482. The church that was built for him could not sustain itself. The next Pope Sixtus V became a pawn of King Cristo and Prince Rolfo who only controlled church in peninsular Italy. Second, King Cristo's health began to deteriorate. He finally died and went to hell (as per excommunicates) in 1484. Many in Italy contested Rolfo's great power, his control of the Church, his 'foreign'ness', his perceived corruption. Many nobles thought him to be just another Saracen stooge (and past Ligurian Kings actually fought these devils!). In Savoy, Don Aldo Lundra overthrew the pro-Rolfo leaders to establish a rival kingdom at Pavia. The Arletians retained control of Tuscany, Latium, Campania, Calabria, Apulia, Spoleto, Romagna, Provence and Madeira. Their capital was Rome which also became the seat of the new Papacy.

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH -Innocentine
Innocent III, Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Servant of the Servants of God, Supreme Pontiff on the Universal Church
CONSECRATION: none successful
Pope Innocent III lost much support by sacking the public works of Latium. He had to pacify the region because the people didn't want their public works sacked. During that time, thanks to Ligurian and Moorish agitation more than half the troops deserted. The rest with Pope Innocent and Cardinal O'Connor were defeated in Latium by Liguria troops. Both holy men became scarce, hiding in cathedrals and abbeys still loyal to them.

The troops balked when attempts were made to seize Sixtian cathedrals and monasteries in the Netherlands. THE ROMAN EMPIRE (Abydos Regime)
Isaac II Comnenus, Imperator Romanus, Basileus of New Rome
DIPLOMACY: Levedia(f), Crimea(f)
Gracelessly did Strategios Justin withdraw the REF from the dirty land of Frank. Somberly did the navy carry the soldiers home. Silently did the army return to their home barracks in Bulgaria. No one was happy. There would be no triumphal victory parade, no festivals of return; they would only make things worse. Emperor Isaac II ruled in increased isolation, distrustful of his best advisor and general (which actually is typical in a Byzantine Roman court). One of his only friends was the Patriarch of Constantinople who reminded Isaac that his actions had fatally weakened the Cardinals of Rome. 'Soon', the holy man would say, 'They would see the right of Orthodoxy'. The Crimeans were talked into becoming friendly by the Atelkuzo and Pereaslavl allies who then split the troops.
