ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lords 9 Years Per Turn: As of Turn 120. Lords 9 will switch to 3 year turns. That means 60% tax rate.

Oceanic Movement: All ocean going leaders and navies travel on coastal sea zones that border your own nation and those of all trade partners at the rate of 1 month per zone. Movement on all coastal sea zones not bordering your nation and your trade partners is 2 months per zone. Monsoon arrows will speed up travel by a factor of a half. Sailing against a strong current counts an additional month. Sailing into hostile waters (H code in the sea zone on your maps) costs an additional month. Travel on all mapped open ocean arrows and inter-island arrows is 1 month per arrow. Travel on non-mapped or party-mapped open ocean arrows and inter island arrows is 4 months per arrow (as you are mapping them). These movement rules nullify the rules introduces around Turn 59 of Lords 10.

Nautical Stats Investments: All non-Renaissance (Tech 8) nations may not invest in Nautical Stats: Conduit Limit, Trade Range & Navigation. Any gold or NFP will be saved if attempted.

Undefined MSP (To Reiterate): You can convert 2m to 1t (and then demobizie it for NFP) if you FIRST pay 1 GP per MSP. These are privately owned ships and cannot be seized without consequence.

AGRO Harvests: I have adjusted the randomizer to fluctuate harvests about 33% either way. This should reduce the incidents of really bad harvests.

Capital Command Control Radius: This will radiate from your capital city your nation has an infrastructure of 2 or more. If your king is outside the CCR, the capital will be overthrown. Any Centralist Monarchy may choose to radiate CCR from the king if they so choose.

Chancellors (Clarification): All Imperial governments will have a Chancellor leader automatically rolled up and placed in the #2 slot of your stat sheet if the slot has not already been filled. If you don't like the chancellor that has been rolled up, you may replace the leader with one of your own choice (from your royal family, lieutenants or a re-roll). You may even choose not to have a chancellor at all. However, if an Imperial government is to raidate CCR from your capital, a chancellor must be present there during the turn, otherwise CCR will radiate from the ending location of your king. Chancellor effectively count against allowed princes, not BL leaders. Empires with chancellor s may have heirs activated in a princely slot. Chancellors act as regents in case the king is not of age.

2.10.3 Adjustment: Project Support: The PWB component of the Project Support has been changed. It is now
Support = (PWB/((Imperial Size + Size Divisor)*10))2

Fax Messages: If you have written something for the fax, just eMail it to me.

THE GLOBAL WAR (1532-?)
Fatimid, Atarikalimid Imam, Denmark, Dutec, Culdis, Popul Italy, Himrad, Mbundu, STIS, Basra, Sarkhagistan

Neutral: Hansa, Andalus, Ronin, Anatolikon, Armenia, Shmalid, Umma, Lubnan, Mataram, Tibet, Ponape, the entire New World

"A generation passed since the Sudanese Uprising. The Imamites asserted their control over the Mediterranean. Hard words passed between the Russian and Danish Caesars. Soon war would ignite. In 1532, obscure documents insinuated that the Danish Empire was loyal to the Atarikalami Moors. The Ghaznavi Wizard, Shah Musamasad, issued an ultimatum to the Phatima Kalipha in 1535: 'Withdraw your support of the Atarikalamite Imam or we will invade'. The Lady of Cairo refused and within a year, Afghan troops were marching on Persia and the Hijaz. Along with the Daran and Obhimbundu war against the Abyssinians, the Hurstian occupation of North Italy, the nationalization of the Egyptian Spice Company in Egypt and the fall of Sarchagistan, the war had become Global at last..."
-An excerpt from "Sword of Empires" by Roarke O'Donald (translated from the Gaelic)

EUROPA

Western Europe Mercs: 20mc, 20mi, 30mw

THE DANISH EMPIRE
Kelson II, Kaiser of All Danes, Emperor of the West
DIPLOMACY: Pomerania(t), Kassubia(t)
Kelson did little to stop the Russian invasion. He maintained a large army behind the island walls of Sjaelland. Rufus Marmaduke with the navy of 537 crocogs stuffed 67,000 dragoons on board and unloaded the lot of them on Pomerania's beach. The wilderness territory was liberated in 1538. Marmaduke pushed into Kassubia and regained the province in 1537. He then extacted tribute from Prussia. He changed his mind and then attacked Prussia in order to loot the province. Rufus died of sickness aqnd the imperial heir, Mathus Kelsson, took command of the force.
Meanwhile the Russian and Chinese armies assaulted Rostock. They then attacked Holstein. While their siege cannons bombarded Lubeck, they were interrupted by 100,000 expert cavaliers from Holland and 100,000 regular lancers. The Russian force of 140,000 elite dragoons, 7000 elite line troops, 75 elite cannons, 59 of the best mortar guns, 2000 expert elite engineers and 45,000 Dawonc soldiers held their ground and mauled the Rhine-men. The artillery barrage proved to be decisive. The Dutch had no guns. With 96,000 soldiers left the Dtuch abadoned Holstein's defense. In October 1536, Lubeck fell to an assault.
Helmut Solartund with 50 elite warships found the Lombard cove in Munster in 1536 and destroyed all the Italian boats. 20,000 infantry and 500 siege-men fled inland. The Internal Secretary was satisfied with the result to allow for the rebuilding of Derry and Portsmouth.
The allies from Hordaland, Meissen and Romsdal sailed to Gwynned to defend Rhemuth. A fortress was built in Dyffed.

THE REFORMED CULDI COUNCIL
Jorevin, Scion of St. Camber, Head Dom of the Culdi Council
DIPLOMACY: none
All local mercenaries were hired to protect the holy shrine at Rhemuth (in Gwynned). The new fortress of Valadar (Dyffed) was protected as well.

THE HANSEATIC LEAGUE
Matew Gartenshom, Hauptsächlich Kaufmann von Hansen
DIPLOMACY: none
The Hansa got real nervous with all the warfare going on.

DAS KONENKRISK DER GRUSRHEIN
Robert, King of Greater Rheinland, Lord of Batavia, Stadhouder of the Netherlands
DIPLOMACY: none
The Dutec got involved in the Global War in 1536. Phillipe Van Dorn who had the grand command had to spend a year training some of his troops into elites. Finally he took his army of 200,000 and confronted the Russians in Holstein. He lost and withdrew to Saxony in 1537. The Russians pursued after a while. There the 96,000 elite cavalry and 8000 local militia plus Buvard Jaw and 22,000 regular cavalry fresh from Tyrol faced a force of 120,500 elite dragoons, 75 elitie cannons and 59 elite siege artillery. The Russian artillery barrage blasted the Dutch (like before) and forced the cavalcade out (33,000 survivors escaped to Friesland). Saxony was lost then to the Russians. Since trade with the Danes was by sea there was no loss of merchant taxes. Elsewhere, smaller forces occupied Tyrol and extracted tribute from neutral Poitou and Armagnac. Liguria was given to the rowdy Populards.

THE MALIKAT AL ANDALUS
Mohammad ibn Rokk, Malik al Andalus
DIPLOMACY: none
Umar died so his uncle Mohammad became the new Emir.

KINGDOM OF THE LOMBARDS
Costanza Bashap, Lombard King of Italy
DIPLOMACY: none
Guenello and Costanza Bashap made it to Munster to recover their army of 20,500 and the prizes from before. Unfortunately, Darino had been killed by the Populs who overran Apulia and Spoleto. The Dutch conquered Tyrol. What was left of the Lombard Kingdom joined Costanza in his Munster camp in 1538.

THE POPULAR REPUBLIC OF ITALY
Nicola Mulicno, President of the People's Republican Society of Italia
DIPLOMACY: none
The final conquest of the Lombards was marred by a new invasion. 82,000 Dracule cavalry, 4000 Pannovian infantry, 20,000 condottieri and 350 ballistae crossed the Slovenian Alps and attacked Verona in 1536. Aldenti (bravely) faced them off with only 4500 infantry, 2000 cavalry and 20 guns. His force was overwhelmed and Aldenti was captured. The Hurszai pacified Verona and Lombardy, gained Milano from siege and then occupied Romagna.
Giacomo Perlotto was busy. He and his army of 7500 cavalry, 20,000 infantry, 21 guns and 1000 sappers conquered Calabria, defeated the Lombard rabble near Tarantum and then liberated Spoleto. He died in Spoleto in 1538.
The Dutch peacefully gave the Populs the rights to Liguria and started trade. Cargo ships were sent to Africa, Vandalia, Egypt, Greece and the Arab Mercantilists. By some odd twist of international politics, the Populs ended up on the same side of the Global War as the Imamists. The reason why this was weird was that the Imamists seized most of the assets of the Egyptian Spice Company who had sent gold to the Populs. But then the Populs and the Dutch fought the Lombards, allies of Russia, enemies of Denmark. And everyone knows the Kaiser and the Ayatollah are pals.

Eastern Europe Mercs: 40mc, 10mi, 10ma

THE KINGDOM OF HURSZIA
Gaspar II, King of Hurszia, Grand Zhupan of Pethion
DIPLOMACY: none
'Gas the Zhoop' as the nursery rhymn would go called a mass conscription and outfitted many men to fight horseback. Mercenaries were signed up both at Pethion and the docks of Pula. The force of around 100,000 men made a strong assault against the communist revolutionaries in Italy. Verona, Lombardy and Romagna were pacified by the end of 1538. There were some minor losses at the siege of Milan.

THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE OF THE RUSSIAS
Cinja II, Czarina of Great Russia, Empress of the East
DIPLOMACY: Vladimir(nt), Thrace(a)
The Chancellor Yerski Anara suffered from five assassination attempts while she was encamped at Obodria, not far from Rostock. She was protected as was Lady Sapelivy and Lady Vaktarov. The troop body lost some mass due to desertions. The assault of Rostock was on and was easily accomplished (no casulties). The bombardment from last turn had done its job softening up the city. The army moved to Holstein to fight the Dutch froggies. The Dutch couldn't stop the advance. Holstein was taken. Lubeck fell to constant artillery barrage and assault (It lost 1 Gpv). Saxony was pacified at the end of 1538.
With all the armies out and about, almost nothing protected the homeland. There was just Aleksei and 2500 elite engineers. They could not prevent the Dutch from landing 67,000 elite cavalry on Pomerania, behind the advance. These cut off the invasion path from direct land access. The counter-invaders took Pomerania, Kassubia and destroyed Aleksei's force in Prussia. Prussia was lost, but the Danes took their time about it.
New Khitan and Canbucha armies arrived in Tver in 1538. They totalled 167,500 all elite cavalry.

THE FREE COMPANY OF THE RISING SUN
Tsubigea Jumin, Ronin Captain
DIPLOMACY: Shulan(f)
The Ronin sacked and burned Serafin in Donets and looted the region.

THE ROMAN KINGDOM OF ANATOLIKON
Herakles, King of Rumania
DIPLOMACY: Peloponesse(t), Hellas(nt), Macedonia(hs), Kyklades(c), Cyprus(hs), Crete(t)
The Anatolians tried to work up the neutrals with gifts and flattery. The regents effort paid off and he got the Peloponesse and Hellas to bow before the young king. But Ajax and Ilexus weren't as eloquent. Ajax had to deal with snub nosed Shi'a Muslims. Ilexus almost caused a war in Macedon and then got in trouble telling Khomeni jokes in Black Muslim Cyprus. A great feast and carnival was thrown for the coming of age of the Rumanrex. A lot of Ghaznavid collectors coins (the 'Jackalope Edition') arrived in boxes by way of Armenia. Eusolini grew to 4 Gpv.

THE KINGDOM OF ARMENIA
Nisibis, Shah of Armenia
DIPLOMACY: Edessa(nt)
Sebastes snuck into Edessa and signed up a deal there. Stefan hung out nearby in case of trouble. Batumi grew to 6 Gpv. That road from Batumi to Konya was opened.

AFRICA

Al Mahgrab Mercs: 10mi

AS SHMALID SULTANAT AS SIQILLI
Fasher Hadi, Sultan of the North, Ruler of As Siqilli
DIPLOMACY: none
A small effort was made to improve some farmland. The famine allievated. The economy remained depressed.

West Africa Mercs: 20mi, 20mc, 10ma

THE UMMA OF ISLAM (YORUBA)
Asuor, Dread Oba of Yoruba, Lord of the Zombies, Caliph of the Shining Path, Protector of the Holy City of Parqr'h
DIPLOMACY: Gagnoa(a), Jenne(nt)
Aggu took the 67,500 infantry and 7500 slaves to Merrakesh and forced tribute there. Asuor sent gold bars north to Andalusia along the new land route in order to appease them. The cities of Bouma, Maza, Kumbi-Selah, Zungeru, Ilorrin, Cheysuk, Baughazwil and Volta grew. Adwaghost was settled to (0/6) by Shining Path colonials.

THE HIMRAD SULTANAT OF DARA
Azucentia II, Sultana of Ngazargumu, Lady of Dara
DIPLOMACY: none
Hananumar and her force of 68,000 rope riders and 250 cannons rounded up the entire population of Nubia. These new slaves were shoved to Faras. Some of the Himraqat troops deserted during this time thanks to some bad rumors about certain varieties of peas. Some work was done out in the high savannah - a postal road under construction between Salamat and Kerkoure. A raiding party led by Ibtissam successfully stole children from Napata, Atbara and Suakin. Sokoto, Nozebned, Chirop'tera grew to respective numbers: 9, 4 and 3 Gpv.

THE IMAMATE
Ayatollah Khomeni XV, Protector of the True Children of Islam, Guardian of the Shining Path, Imam
DIPLOMACY: none
Lots of gold was expressed to the Fatimids by way of the Trading Company of Samalut. Of all the efforts by the governments to build warehouses, only the factor in Parq'rh was actually built within budget and deadline. Kumalo and some mercenaries stormed in and shut down the Spice Company's cartel city in Alexandria. 35,000 mercs stomped on the 3000 guards posted by the doors. Its assets were taken back to the holy city. Wezollah Yxjsh III consecrated great mosques in Zungeru, Kumbi-Selah and set up wapf mosques in Dakar and Senegal. Ben Wudad's 20,000 pure swordsmen defended Cairo.

THE OVI PANTRAPY OF MBUNDU
Okonkwo II, Pantrap of Mbundu, Lord of the Fell Gates of Khatovar, The Last True Afro-Pagan on Earth
DIPLOMACY: none
Bwana's Maiko garrison was reinforced so that in AH 996, he could invade Nia Nia. There was nominal resistance but no Ethiopian reaction army. Nia Nia and Mossaua were pacified. A merchant factor was built for the distant STIS in Kanyamagufa. Kakundakari grew to 4 Gpv and its huts got awnings.

East Africa Mercs: 40mi, 20mc

THE KINGDOM OF ABYSSINIA (ITIOPYA)
Zanditu II, King of Abyssinia, Negus Negesti, Anointed by Jah, Lion of Judah
DIPLOMACY: none
Mass conscription helped to revive the Ethiopian army. There was little incursions. A Himrad force of 10,000 cavalry slaved Napata and Atbara. The Mbundu occupied Nia Nia. Darfur became cultivated.

ASIA

Arabia and Persia Mercs: 20mi, 20mc, 20mw

SHIRKI AT TIJAR AL IFRIKI AS SHARK (STIS)
Hanna al Hiddad, Chief Executive of the East African Trading Coalition
DIPLOMACY: none
Hanna ordered that the competion be crushed - literally. Ab'ul Hanna and some hired swords with the blessing of the Fatimids and the Imamate entered Benghazi town and shut down the Spice Company factor there. The Imam's own mercs stormed the cartel city in Alexandria. Hanna then gutted the branch office in Abu Darbah, the factor in Yanbu, the office in Jerusalem and the factor in Amman. Assets were seized, mostly fixtures and merchantise on hand.
Hanna tried in vain to acquire monopolies at Sanaa. He lacked the infrastruture, the personal savvy and the hard cash (!) to come close to any deal. The assault on the Spice Company caused a depression which mostly affected Egypt and Syria and any one who did business with them.

THE FATIMID CALIPHAT AL QAHIRA
Al Baram, Malika al-Arabiya, Lady Caliph of the Ba'athist Muslims
DIPLOMACY: none
The Kalifa al Baram decertified the Egyptian Spice Company and put a cease and desist order on all future expansion within Kalifat borders. Req and the 12,500 crusaders took care of the cartel city in Cairo itself. They had to fight 3000 guards. Fireworks were used to expel them.
Forewarned through diplomatic channels of an Ghaznavid naval invasion, Khuki Sumra and Buba Horri scuttled the fleet. The converted sailors became swordsmen and these marched back to Cairo. Up river, Barikli scored 23 points against the Bulls sacked and burned Bayuda and took his 36,000 dragoons back home as well. All was fine until AH 997 when 117,500 Afghan knights attacked Madina. Req and the jihadin rushed to the scene to confront the attackers, but the Afghans were too much for him. True, the Ghaz chief commander was wounded by an assassins dagger - but the Ghaznavids brought a back up general. All the defenders died including Req, but the Egyptians made a good account of themselves. If these gentiles were met with equal force, these stinky Afghans would have probably been repelled. Mecca was assaulted and it fell after inflicting two days of heavy damage.
A depression hit Egypt, a result of the violence done against the Spice Company and its effect on the economy at large.

THE EGYPTIAN SPICE COMPANY (AL SHIRKI AL BAHARAT AL MASR)
Yussuf al Khalan, Director of the ESC
DIPLOMACY: none
Guards were posted by the doors of the cartel buildings in Cairo, Alexandria and the home offices in Ziba. These were given advanced siege weapons to hopefully scare away government forces. They didn't work. The STIS had hired mercenaries to do their dirty work and none of the Spice Company leaders were around when Abu Darbah, Alexandria, Amman, Benghazi, Cairo, Jerusalem and Yanbu were boarded up. Ziba was left alone, though. Mustafa opened a branch office in New Jerusalem and moved on to Pisa to establish a regional office. He was arrested in Benghazi and died in jail. Yussuf, on his way back home, set up an office in Kirovsk then factors in Myra and Brana. He evaded authorities in Palestine and took shelter at the home office where he became the Director.

AL ARABIYAH AL LUBNAN
Deriq, Rais al Walad al Ibrahim
DIPLOMACY: none
Old Ivory-Spear lived to the age of 81. He left a son after his death, Deriq, in Brana.

THE LABANID SULTANATE OF BASRAH
Benusa, Amir as Sideh, Sultan of Basra
DIPLOMACY: Zagro(fa), Iraq(ne, it was pacified), Mand(t, but invaded), Abadan(f, but invaded), Hahmar(f, but invaded), Luristan(a, but it rebelled)
The Labanids were completely unprepared for the Avestan invasion. Two armies advanced to Baghdad. One picked up neutral regions along the former Silk Road. The other, some 142,500 cavalry crossed the Kirthar mountains to take Makran late in 994. The homeland of Hormuz had a garrison of 20,000 but all were swept aside while the bad guys occupied. As Sideh fell to their greedy paws. The collapse of the bureaucracy led to rebellions. Wijunnan and the Abadan split off forming an independent alliance. Benusa, the old war hero, held the west (Jazirah, Iraq, Hahmar and Kuwait), his vizier Esha kept the east cool (Zagros, Khuzesatan, Mand, Laristan and Yezd). The Ghaznavids continued their invasion, tributizing Mand, Khuzestan, Abadan and Hahmar. The other army of 240,000 jackalope riders crossed from Diyala late in 997 and confronted Benusa and his assortment of 13,000 knights, 1000 infantry and 1500 indentured servants. This little army was shattered and Benusa escaped to Jazirah. What was once a great and powerful kingdom was humbled beneath the treads of an unyielding juggernaut.

THE SHAHDOM OF SARKHAGISTAN
Sa'id al Aman, Shahanshah of Sarkhagistan
DIPLOMACY: none
The Huang elite army (44,000 cavalry, 40,000 infantry, 12,500 engineers, 200 artillery and 25 siege artillery) marched into Khwarzim in AH 994 and swamped the 31 field forts and their men plus 10,000 infantry spearmen. Shah Torvik was hurt and captured in the debacle. He would be executed. Musa Moham escaped to the capital, Urganj. It had 100 foot walls, but that was reduced to 50 feet after come bombardment from the Huang mortar guns. The Huang assaulted the city, suffering not one cut. The Sarkhagi state was sacked. What was left fled towards Bogazgol just where the Chinese were set to march to anyway. In 996, Bogazgol's defenders: Garunnan and 12,500 knights were completely atomized. Sa'id al Aman, the last of Torvik's lieutenants, fled with the navy to just cultivated Yayik which he made the new homeland. THE FARUKAS SULTANATE OF GHAZNAVID
The Great and Glorious Wizard of Ghaz, His Most Excellent and Perspiring, Musamasad, Sultan of Avestan, Khan of the Hindus, Chieftain of the Nutter Butters
DIPLOMACY: Iraq(nt)
The Ghaznavid finally made it known to the world what they thought of the Black Muslim explosion: phgppphhh!!! They built a whole lot of artillery and transports. Armies were readied for war. Three armies and two navies would advance into Arab lands. Bimato took command of the navy in A.H. 995. This was 580 warships and 235 cargo boats. The armada carried 117,500 cavalry units led by Ramohn the Destroyer and Lanhim. These landed at Yemen's port area and forced tribute from Asir and Fatimid Madina in 996. Afterr fighting a small Fatimid reaction force (losing 6000), they assaulted Mecca's 90 foot ramparts and lost 40,500 more. With an injured Ramohn, they drew back to Asir.
Two other armies, each about 140,000 knights attacked Basra. Prince Ahmudi as Sanaa and Lord Is'mail took the high road coming from Bactria, taking Dasht Kavir, Kipchak, Jibal, Diyala and finally, Iraq. The Iraqis were happy to see a non-Basra, non-Black Muslim army to liberate them. Kirha and Nakbin took the low road, crossing into treacherous mountain passes at Makran. Then, after reducing Hormuz, they tributized Mand, Khuzestan, Abadan and Hahmar.
