Turn 24 Orders Due Back By: Monday, October 29th 1999

Announcements

IMPORTANT: I found a bug in the stat database dealing with Feudal Allies. The program was incorrectly figuring out how much troop support was. Instead of multiplying the FA’s support cost by 0 (making FA troops free) it was multiplying the support cost by –10. The end result was that some people had a negative troop support. Some people may notice a jump in troop support because of this correcting. If you are one of those people contact me, we will work something out.

If you know of any player who has told you that they dropped, and I still have them as playing an open nation, please contact me and let me know, it will make life easier for me. Also you may notice that some nations have been opened up. I am ousting people who I have not been able to either get a hold of, or have not been getting turns from at all.

If you know of anyone who is looking to join a game, send them to me. ;> I’d like to get some of the newly opened nation filled, as well as some not so apparent positions filled also. Maps have been being updated slowly but surely I am on the average of 4 to 6 maps per turn. The following have been updated this past turn, or maps have been cleaned up

Central America
South America (East and West)
North West Africa
Egypt
Arabia
India

This Turn’s Music …

Iron Maiden – Powerslave
Eagles – Hotel California
Matchbox 20 – Yourself, or someone like you

Awards!

As made traditional in other LOTE games. The Turn from Hell award will be awarded to the player who’s turn gave me the largest headache. J

Lord: Buryat

Vagabond: Byzantine

Rules Errata and Reminders

Homelands: Homelands now produce double tax rate, as per the new LOTE 5.6 rule set.

Tithe Income: If you are paying a tithe to a Religious Primate and the rate of the tithe is less than 5% then there is no effect to you; you do not lose any money. If the rate of the Tithe is greater than 5%, then you lose 1% of Tax Rate for each percentage point of the tithe over 5.

Elite troops: They are available to be built/trained when you achieve tech level 5 or greater, this represents how well your troops are versed in combat

SLAVES ON SHIPS: After some thought and discussions there is a change on slaves and their movements. While on Transports or warships, the ships will move their normal BAC a turn, instead of the 2 BAC that slaves get.

The Bug faced man clawed into the rail of the ship and fought the urge to loose his lunch. As hard as he tried to pay attention to the priest, his body didn’t. This was all that damned Abu’s fault that Borris had died. If they had never pulled the heist of the century they would have never joined forces, much less get in over their heads. His thoughts were interrupted by the shrieks of the priest. Suddenly he realized that there were other boats closing in, and they were launching arrows and large rocks.

There was no escape, there was too many of then, and they were too close. The Bug man spied the open casket of Borris and a though occurred to him. Quickly he rolled Borris off the deck and he crawled into the casket. The sounds of battle started soon after with the unknown assailants cutting down all loyal men.

"Did you get what we came for?", said a voice that had an odd Asian accent.

"Your most holy one, he is not on board"

Then the Bulgars captured our rich lands, and was soon replaced by the Aghlibids. Soon after them the Wudan were at our doors. Enough of the weak outsiders ruling out mighty lands. Now is the time to recapture the glory and power that was once ours."

Those words spread like wildfire through the central regions of Italy. Barons and peasants alike flocked to Rome in 971AD to join the Roman Army and the new nation. Ricardo was elected president of the new nation and lead the newly raised army south to give his homeland a little buffer.
