2) FINALLY the new version of stats will correctly do the tithes.

4) Check out the Lords of the Earth homepage… http://gumby.spa.umn.edu/cscdir/lotedie/homepage.html

GAME RULE CHANGES

                                    & EXPLINATIONS

Some people have asked about who belongs to what religion, so as Thomas Harlan, oh great creator of this game has done, I will mark the religions with little pictures:

U - Roman Catholic

W - Eastern Orthodox

X - Heretic Christian

Y - Judaic

Z - Shiite Muslim

v - Sunni Muslim

[ - Buddhist

¬  - Hindu

¤ - Shinto

° - African Pagan

ª - Coptic Christian

n - Asian Pagan

O.K., there seems to be more then just a little confusion as to the cost of PW.  See the chart below.

Terrain      C/C2/I/City   W/J/S     D/T/M

NFP / GP    5/10              8/15       10/20

On the Eastern tip of Northern Africa there are 2 regions, both named Zeila, now one is named Zelia and the other is Zelial.

After talking with a player, I agreed that it would make sense to have LT have 3 MSP’s of cargo as opposed to the normal Transport’s 2 MSP’s.  The rational was that the Light Transports have less armament and thussly (I like that word) has more room to move things.

Things in italic’s are either submitted text, or something away from prying eyes.

King Mohammed called his ministers and generals to the palace.  “We have suffered the presence of the Greek infidels long enough.  I tire of their intrigues and treason.  Go forth, my princes and drive these vermin into the sea!”

In his old age, Mohammed grew tired and ordered his men to nap with him often.

In his dream to have a road that connects all Byzantine cities to one another, Cartiphilus ordered more work done on his postal roads. There were a rash of deaths, all three Lt.’s had died in the year of 927AD, all from apparently natural causes, but to some that seems like too large of  coincidence.

Orthodox Church - W

Father John II

DIPLOMACY: (None)

No turn was received.

Rus Vikings - W

Viga Brand, The River Raider

DIPLOMACY: None

Ivar had all of his navy fly his new flag; it was green with a red serpent in the middle.  In the spring of 929, Ivar was out with his men when an arrow flew and struck his throat.  He lingered on death’s door for almost a week before he died.  The man who shot him was a tan skinned man of miniature stature, who was killed before anyone though to ask him any questions.

Russian Revolt

929AD -930AD

When Ivan died, Viga Brand was heading home from a very successful raid into the steps.  He heard of his fathers death while making his way through Veposkava, and when he entered Novgorod he found it a war zone.  His brother Egil, had declared Viga dead, and assumed the throne.  After a bloody war between himself and Lt. Olaf, who tried to claim the throne when Ivar had died.  When Viga came to the gates he and his men were shot at.  Viga decided he had had enough of this nonsense, especially considering he had seen a new tribe of horsemen starting to wander the steps near his nation.  With 6,500 Cavalry, 24,000 Infantry, and 5,000 Bow men Viga choked back his tears and ordered an Active siege of his home, in his fathers name.  Then all hell broke loose; the feudal Allies from Yaroslav and Kalinin turned on him, joining his brother Egil in attacking his bowmen before anyone knew what was happening.  In mere minutes the 5,000 bow men were killed, and of the revolting 6,000 Infantry, only 3,000 were left.  The Cavalry then chased them to the gates and  killed the last man as he was 50 feet from the closing gate.  Now left with 13,000 Infantry and 6,500 Cavalry, he ordered the assault.  In the fall of 929AD Viga entered his war torn Capital with only 12,000 Infantry left.  Egil was captured and hung the next day.  He then found the dead bodies of his bother and sister, both had not yet been crowned, as they were too young.  The nation is still in mourning.

Later he heard rumors that Lt. Olaf escaped and caused a chunk of his nation to the east to revolt.

King Sid II

DIPLOMACY: Lyonnais (F)

“Here is your jug of wine, Sire.  Is there anything else you desire?”

“Rome.  She has far too long been ruled by weak and foolish men.  I will take my flag there, sending this message to the puny men not worthy to lick my boot: ‘No one can stand up to the power of the Bear.’ ”

King Sid II was not pleased when his men came back to tell them that there were no mercenaries in the country side, they all seem to have been busy.

Siege of Rome

927AD

They came in early spring of 927AD, lead by King Sid II himself, with 5,000 well equipped bow men, and 139,500 Horsemen.  Latium was pacified in less then a month, but while they were doing that, Jamal readied his 20,000 Infantry and 2,000 Cavalry for a bloody battle.   Then Arkady came into Rome, under cover of night, and unloaded his army.  His 11,000 Infantry, 3,500 heavily equipped Cavalry, and 5,000 Siege troops.  At first, though out-manned almost by a three to one margin, Jamal feared he would fail.  Then he saw that the army of the Ligurian’s was almost all Cavalry, and that would be his victory.  In the only month of combat, Rome lost 26,500 men in the Siege, while the Ligurian army lost 54,000 men.  Sid II was mot happy that his generals did not tell him that Cavalry were the worst types of troops to have in a siege.
