Welcome. This is the first
real newsletter for Black Empire. Turn #0 basically listed potential empire
for the indecisive or Rulebook-less. There are several sections to this newsletter.
(1) The Announcements. Here is where I clarify and explain the rule, note
mistakes or make changes. (2) Nation by Nation Entries. Each Empire will
have a summary of the events that occurred in their nation. (3) The ISI Chart
which ranks the Empires and lists your name and phone numbers if you wish to be
contacted. On the whole, this
is the format you’ll read each turn.
Notes: There have been a few typos and omissions
in the Rulebook I’ve sent you, here are some that have been caught this turn.
Code Changes: The code for Stormguards
is ‘st’. This won’t conflict
with the Storm (or Mountain) Giants which is ‘sg’. The code for Woodsmen is ‘wo’,
so as to not conflict with the Witch Doctors ‘wd’.
Costs: The Action Cost of each of the various actions were
not included in the Rulebook. Here they are:

Movement cost?: When ever you read about “+0” movement cost when
reading about Mountain Man & Forester special abilities, that means that the
leader & all units following move through the affected region at a rate
of 1 (instead of 2).
Diplomacy Attribute: Nations
with Diplomatic Attribute do not perform Diplomacies. When an
Army with Diplomatic Attacks
a region, the region may choose to surrender without a fight and become a Protectorate
Training: When training your
leader must specify which area (Leadership, Might or Sorcery) that is to be improved.
Color Map: The Color Map is ready.
This is a one-sheet map of the entire world with each Empire colored in with
their own, unique color. I need to point out that I have put Maps U-Y at the
top of the page with Map P-T on
the bottom. Color Maps of the Sea of Fear will be made each turn and you can
order one for any turn for $3.00.
Turnaround Time: Turns will be out every week. For those of
you living in distant places (outside of Phoenix metro area), the best way to
get those turns in on time is through fax-machine and eMail. Because I am so busy,
I cannot take voice orders. I will send results out by regular mail, but
I can tell you what happened and
your stats by eMail and Fax Machine once results are out.

Rules Used in Sea of Fear
campaign uses the 1995 Black Empire Rulebook v4.0. It uses
the Sea of Fear Module as Scenario.
The Age of Champions
Hundred Years after the Devastation,
Strong kingdoms began to arise from the ruins of before. Human, Elves, Dwarves
and even Zombies began to stir
and raise mighty armies. But it was the New Dragonlords who led the way.
Dragons had been powerful before in the days of the Diaspora when
twelve already ancient Dragonlords held sway. But in later days, the twelve began
to die out. Only one had survived into the Age of Champions to become one
of the new twelve, Sardior the Red, but in the early years, none had
seen him since the Devastation. Of the twelve new Dragonlords, six came out
of hibernation and established
kingdoms: Qaan, Gorath, Wooglin Tesis, Celalaith, Neyarizam and Ruchah.
Ui Tehanatl, 2354 YD
Pendragon sent his army of knights to conquer Lowland.
These were led by Prince
brother. Uther did succeed there but not in Atcry where the knights were tough.
Uther died in heroic battle.
Meanwhile the berserker,
Hevydd, all by his lonesome
forced the capitulation of Slosul. Hevydd has learned from this experience.

Godwin’s man-at-arms searched the Temple
of Od and was slain by the fanatic guardsmen.

Sultan Mobius Manslaughter
Manslaughter, Sultan of the North, La’ot sent his son
Po to conquer
rival cities. Using the discipline of teleportation, Lichgoth opens a gate
to Khilkhib though which Po and
an army of vampires attacks. Khilkhib surrenders at the sight of the bloodsuckers.
Lichgoth then teleported the evil force across the lake surface to Khayman
who resisted Po until none of the militia survives. Khayman, too, was pacified.

Albatross, Guide of the Yeshmif Mountains
and his paladins enters Kletgol which
capitulates to protectorate. Blakoulya
resists the Good Guide and suffers the indignity of being conquered.

Lester the Fair
In the dwarf mine of Avesta,
found steel tools which could help his blacksmiths make
better weapons. It would take
time for the new knowledge to be so some use. Prince
three squads of storm giants march into Byl but had to winter before

Gog, Master of the Desert
Master of the Desert,
Gog, with a army of fanatic
nomads conquers Lawzho, Senj and Il Chabud. In the wall section of Sirsha,
the Flying Devil,

Ruchah with a dragon and a young
dragon (which slowed him down) flies to Tajo and gains their surrender after a
brief taste of dragon’s fire. Mountain men jumped off the worms’ backs to garrison
the mountain terrain.

Order of the Sphenedon
the Grandmaster, takes umbrage to the Ahir
and raise huge armies to break them. First the Kolkheb are attacked and are conquered.
Olkhel which had been invaded by the Ahir prince
and 1 raptor pack, 1 division of snake men and 3 fights of pteradons
faced a greater assembly of 6 raptor packs and 9 flights of pteradons. Both
Runge-Kutta and Gargalex are
experts in guerrilla warfare, but Runge-Kutta had the edge in morale and scouting.
In the snake speed battle of veloceraptors, the Sphenedons kills all the
reptiles of Gargalex except for the raptors. Later, during the charge, four flights
of pteradons are sacrificed to slay the remaining Ahiri raptor pack. Olkhel
becomes a Sphenedon protectorate and Runge Kutta with his survivors (all 6
raptor packs and 5 pteradon flights) occupy Ahir.

Helshigrath conquer Qodaj to the north with
his reptile army while his son
Gargalex does the same
to the southern region of Olkhel. Gargalex suffers defeat at the hands of
Runge-Kutta of the Rhynchocephalran Order. Gargalex flees to join his sire in
Qodaj, the remaining possession of Ahir.

Wilkedel, King of Elves
discovers treasure in a vault in his home city, Birzai.
Sithdavod with 5 divisions of elf fighters
are killed in the highly resistant land of Mifi. Sithdavod may have been a
dwarf friend, but the dwarves of Mifi are no friends to Elves (or anyone else).

Majestrix Wakamak the Mad
The Mad Queen,
Wakamak, marched an undead force into the plains of
Sisudka and conquered them.

in his own home Elf Wood of Orivesi discovers
a human man had infiltrated them. After apologizing,
agrees not to bother
the elves anymore. Kivar turns down Llelen’s job offer.

Celalaith, Crone Dragon
kin, time to be hardened by battle”, hissed
to the new batch of 5 young dragons who had just been weaned from the cave.
Celalaith led them to the land
where she had taken many generations of young dragons before, Ul Shiair, and
its deadly fortress of Vulcan. Like before, the young ones were unable to surmount
the stone-steel barriers, not with magic nor with fire. After three had
been lost, Celalaith took the two that survived back home. They had survived
the first test of might.

Baldar Redbeard was busy himself
marching his dwarves, eagles and giants to Desdo, gaining their surrender
after a brief fight.

Khanate of Rimadaho
Necros has begun to write in his diary
of world conquest.

In a Crypt, hundreds of years old,
Justice is born. Along side him an army of undead soldiers
and knights rises from the soil. As a group, the Plague of dead men moved,
oblivious to any element, to fight the Mamataha steppe dwellers. The Mamataha
are defeated but only after
they destroy 13 ranks of rotted corpses.

Clan Chief Aeneas
with an assortment of wilderness, gnome
and undead soldiers bypasses the plains of Richeer to conquer Urrari. Sadly,
his first son,
Gulias, unleashes a sandworm while exploring
the ruins of Coomi. The sandworm turns on the newly built gnome town of
Akha’eeya and eats many. Meanwhile,
Kelur the Hornblower, hires a fellow gnome,
to assist the Clan.

of the Gnome Tinkerers has offered a generous bounty to
any who would vanquish the sandworm that devours gnomes and disrupts economic
activity for the wee folk in general.
Monze Uruk Kingdom
Jack, Chief of the Sweatin’ Jungles Peoples
attacks Itampolo and garrisons the land.
Terror of Spoon Feeders Everywhere, defeats the Mankoja and the Mado Gashi, and
has time to sharpen his molars.
Ol’ Fred stayed home
and searched the old libraries for paste. He found nothing except collapsing
piles of smoldering scrolls (which Ol’ Fred ate his way out of every time he

proud land of Jada. In a treasure box, in the catacombs underneath Mbinro, prince
Lazaar II finds Jula’s Machete, a
weapon once wielded by the scion of an old Evil dynasty of Jalingo.
