Greetings:
Welcome. This is the first
real newsletter for Black Empire. Turn #0 basically listed potential empire
for the indecisive or Rulebook-less. There are several sections to this newsletter.
(1) The Announcements. Here is where I clarify and explain the rule, note
mistakes or make changes. (2) Nation by Nation Entries. Each Empire will
have a summary of the events that occurred in their nation. (3) The ISI Chart
which ranks the Empires and lists your name and phone numbers if you wish to be
contacted. On the whole, this
is the format youll read each turn.
There were about 23 entries into
the Lottery. After that 22 of you jumped before this First Turn was due. Thank
You. I hope Black Empire will be as fun and enjoyable experience.

There have been a few typos and omissions
in the Rulebook Ive sent you, here are some that have been caught this turn.
Army
Code Changes:
The code for Stormguards
is st. This wont conflict
with the Storm (or Mountain) Giants which is sg. The code for Woodsmen is wo,
so as to not conflict with the Witch Doctors wd.

not included in the Rulebook. Here they are:

When ever you read about +0 movement cost when
reading about Mountain Man & Forester special abilities, that means that the
leader & all units following move through the affected region at a rate
of 1 (instead of 2).
Diplomacy Attribute:
Nations
with Diplomatic Attribute do not perform Diplomacies. When an
Army with Diplomatic Attacks
a region, the region may choose to surrender without a fight and become a Protectorate
region.
Training:
When training your
leader must specify which area (Leadership, Might or Sorcery) that is to be improved.
The
Color Map:
The Color Map is ready.
This is a one-sheet map of the entire world with each Empire colored in with
their own, unique color. I need to point out that I have put Maps U-Y at the
top of the page with Map P-T on
the bottom. Color Maps of the Sea of Fear will be made each turn and you can
order one for any turn for $3.00.
Turn
Turnaround Time:
Turns will be out every week. For those of
you living in distant places (outside of Phoenix metro area), the best way to
get those turns in on time is through fax-machine and eMail. Because I am so busy,
I cannot take voice orders. I will send results out by regular mail, but
I can tell you what happened and
your stats by eMail and Fax Machine once results are out.

Five
Hundred Years after the Devastation,
Strong kingdoms began to arise from the ruins of before. Human, Elves, Dwarves
and even Zombies began to stir
and raise mighty armies. But it was the New Dragonlords who led the way.
Dragons had been powerful before in the days of the Diaspora when
twelve already ancient Dragonlords held sway. But in later days, the twelve began
to die out. Only one had survived into the Age of Champions to become one
of the new twelve, Sardior the Red, but in the early years, none had
seen him since the Devastation. Of the twelve new Dragonlords, six came out
of hibernation and established
kingdoms: Qaan, Gorath, Wooglin Tesis, Celalaith, Neyarizam and Ruchah.

the Grandmaster, takes umbrage to the Ahir
and raise huge armies to break them. First the Kolkheb are attacked and are conquered.
Olkhel which had been invaded by the Ahir prince Gargalex
and 1 raptor pack, 1 division of snake men and 3 fights of pteradons
faced a greater assembly of 6 raptor packs and 9 flights of pteradons. Both
Runge-Kutta and Gargalex are
experts in guerrilla warfare, but Runge-Kutta had the edge in morale and scouting.
In the snake speed battle of veloceraptors, the Sphenedons kills all the
reptiles of Gargalex except for the raptors. Later, during the charge, four flights
of pteradons are sacrificed to slay the remaining Ahiri raptor pack. Olkhel
becomes a Sphenedon protectorate and Runge Kutta with his survivors (all 6
raptor packs and 5 pteradon flights) occupy Ahir.
